According to NFL.com, the Bears have signed C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Here is hoping he can give us a boost over the pedestrian efforts of our current DBs.

Glad to see help is on the way.  With this news, I assume Stevenson injury news will not be positive later today.

You're probably right. I think CJ was signed with the hopes he could play slot, where he played for the Eagles when they won the Super Bowl. Sounds like, from the article, that is his best position. If he can cover for Gordon, and Stevenson can play, that would be awesome.

He has a history of an attitude but he played well last year while starting for the Eagles. It definitely cant hurt our depth. Maybe our D captains can keep in line.

Looks like he is going to play the Slot CB, which is a massive upgrade over McCloud who has arguably been the worst starter on defense.

All of this.  Especially the part about the D captains needing to keep him in line.  I remember when he and Javon Wims had a dustup during a game that I believe ended up getting Wims ejected and a significant penalty.  He also was seen mocking Tarik Cohen during that same game.  He's a known 'chirper'.  

Interestingly while reading up on him and while with Dennis Allen in NO, Allen grew tired of him and pushed to get him traded (2022) where he eventually found his way to Philly.  Aside from all that, one significant red flag is that the Bears will be his 3rd team since leaving the Eagles earlier this year. 

CJGJ is a ballhawk. 18 INTs in 64 career starts. Jaylon Johnson has 7 INTs in 71 starts and Stevenson has 7 in 36 starts. So as long as they can keep the attitude in check, he will be an upgrade over McCloud, Owens, or whoever else they were plugging in there.

that would be amazing - also if Booker comes in and makes an impact, that would be huge.

Im a little reluctant to "crown" a DL who hasnt really done it yet, but all reports from practice say he is ready to make his presence felt on the DL. That would be welcome news indeed!
