I have been quietly on the sidelines throughout this mess thinking that it didn’t make sense Cunningham would take a lateral move to a position where he didn’t have final say over the roster.

It IS a strange idea. The best rationalization i came up with (and Im not saying this is true, just the only thing i could think of) is that it is a step up in responsibility even if he doesnt have FINAL say, and since he doesnt have final say he can still move on to a team that wants him to be a GM WITH final say after this move?

Also, it's going to be more money too.

But after turning down other jobs, this is strange I agree.

Im looking forward to what the final contract actually says.

However, if he does move onto another GM position that does have responsibility, ATL gets 2 comp picks. That is what makes this whole thing absurd. Either give picks to everyone or no one.

Biggs mentioned today combine would be where the Bears would maybe ask about the picks. Biggs is super connected and he didn’t want to get Bears fans hopes up but figured fact he said it meant he heard they were at least going to try. Would be big to get those picks.

I heard Greg Gabriel say that George has already called the NFL administration about this matter.  Not sure where he got that but he's worked in those offices before. He must have some connections.

If we don't get the picks, it will effectively end the Rooney Rule.

Goodell is a complete asshole. He's on NFL Network advocating for the Rooney rule, because Florida has ruled it discriminatory. But, he shows his true colors by shoving a true Rooney candidate up our ass. Ryan and Cunningham have both stated that the GM role is exactly the same as the previous GM (Fontenot), whom the saints received the comp picks for. Slurp the Saints, screw the Bears.

All told, I bet Goodell is applying pressure to George to keep the Bears in Chicago, because it's better for the shield. He should have been fired after Bunnygate...

The rule is ( to get promoted) and that happened. Now they add to the description ( top football guy).

It hurts no other team, just extra picks for promoting a minority canadate. It insane they are taking this stance. The bears should sue them over this. It will force them to give us the picks or dump the policy.

The NFL brass won't like that but it's not like they are doing us any favors now.

League doesn’t want to admit that they messed up. Sucks but it is what it is.
