Forte sounds like he needs a tissue. Oh poor me I am going to make almost 8 MILLION dollars this upcoming season and I was offerred a fair long term deal before last season and again this offseason but me me me cry cry cry .

Another best case is you deal him for a 2nd rounder (no one would give up a 1st for him and to be honest, given the lack of importance placed on RB's, I don't even know if you get a 2nd for him).

The Chargers let LT go as did the Cowboys with Emmett Smith who was the NFL all time leading rusher. This is a business decision.

How are the Bears treating him like crap? Good for them that they are being sensible with the situation and realizing that you shouldn't have to over pay for RB's in this league. The Bears offered him a fair contract. Look at what happened to the two best RB's in football that got paid last season. How did that turn out for Minnesota and Tennessee? These are the very reasons you never want to put all your stock in the most fragile position in football.

Those same people wanting an extension for Forte will be the ones who will be pissed at Emery 3 years into Forte's 6 year extension saying "Emery is a f***ing idiot. Why did he give a running back coming off an injury a 6 year extension who already had 4 years in the league? WTF. Now our cap situation is screwed." Get a grip on things, people. This Bush signing has more to do with Barber's future in Chicago than Forte's, anyway.

Would it have happened if Forte had signed the fair deal he was offered? Nope.

Sure, they've hedged their bets on a Forte hold out, but now they've essentially said they're willing to go through the season with Bush as the #1 if Forte decides to hold out. But at the same time, they've told potential FAs that they play hardball with their own guys, and this could be something that dissuades other FAs from coming to the team.

Bush's deal is reportedly 14 Million for 4years with 7 guaranteed. The rest of the contract is 1.75 mil per year.If you prorate the bonus for the first 2 years thats 5.25 million a year more than 2 million less than what Forte is tagged for. Forte being pissed is about as important as you and me being pissed.The Bears have the ability to franchise him again next year so If he truly wants to leave sign the tender and ask for a trade.Don't do it threw the social media. More importantly is the Bears now don't have to do anything because he is franchised and they have Bush and Barber under contract. Don't get me wrong I believe Forte is the best Bears RB since Neal Anderson and would hate to see him go but,I've been a Bear fan longer than he has been living.

For their careers, both RB's (Forte and Bush) have the same YPG (4.2) and rushing TD's (21).

I do hope he contributes from day one of this season, but if not, it's good knowing we have some solid options at the position now.

Yep. Just like when we signed Marion Barber & Chester Taylor & added Ced Benson to compete with Thomas Jones. I was THRILLED with all three of those transactions and all 3 sucked. I'm skeptical.

 

What baffles me is we have many needs at starting spots & we focus on back-ups. We need to resign Okoye, I'd love to see us make a run at Marcus McNeil. Tim Jennings gets benched but it looks like he'll continue to be a starter.

 

We entered the off-season with both lines needing upgraded and it looks like we'll wait until the draft. Dissappointing.
