Final Mock 4/25/12

Featured Replies

1. Michael Brockers, DT, LSU

---Great run stuffer. Perfect compliment to the pass rushing Melton.

2. Nick Perry, DE, USC

---With the emergence of Brockers and Jones, some mocks have Perry falling into the mid-2nd. He's a great scheme fit.

3. James Brown, OT, Troy

---A lot of people think he's an NFL OG or LT.

4. Tommy Streeter, WR, Miami

---Lanky WR who is a red zone threat. Reminds me of Plaxico Burress.

5. DaJohn Harris, DT, USC

---Bears add again to their DT rotation after losing Okoye and cutting Adams.

6. Philip Blake, C, Baylor

---Blake is a natural C, but he can compete for an OG spot until Garza loses his job, gets hurt, or retires.

7. Duke Ihenacho, SS, San Jose State

---Safety depth in case Conte, Wright, or Steltz flame out.

I would love that but dont think Perry would drop that far. So Curry or Branch could come into play. They looked hard at Stephenson/OT/Okl and that is about where he may go in the third so think that may fit better. I dont like Streeter when they might be some better choices for 4th round.I like McNutt, Toon, M. Jones better that could be around then. I think with some depth at CB, they would take one in the mid rounds.

So here is mind:

1 Merculis/DE The Bears like him a lot

2 J Allen/LT Could beat out Webb in first year, moving up as prospect

3 Quick or Jenkins, both might be gone then M. Jones/Cali

4 Tandy/CB/WV The brought him in, had 4 ints. as a senior

5 Daniels/DT/Iowa can give you a pass rush

6 Nielsen/OLB/Iowa productive player with speed

7 Whitney/FS/VT speedy 6 footer.

I dislike waiting until the third to get OL help since I obviously think it's still the #1 need, but starting the draft with Brockers and Perry would be unreal. If the addition of those two didn't turn the Bears front-four into the NY Giants 2.0, where a QB isn't safe on any down, then I don't know what would.

Also, I'd rather seea CB in the 5th instead of another DT.

Overall, however, this would have to be considered a good draft for the Bears.

I think you are going to sorely disappointed unless someone falls.

I fully expect draft day disappointment. It goes with being a Chicago Bears fan.

I'd be okay with that draft but could see it going this way:

Rd 1 @ 19 R. Rieff OT Iowa

Rd 2 @ 50 V. Curry DE Marshall

Rd 3 @79 AJ Jenkins WR Illinois

Rd 4 @ 111 Kheeston Randall DT Texas

Rd 5 @ 150 Tank Carder LB TCU

Rd 6 @ 184 Coryell Judie CB Texas A & M

Rd 7 @ 220 Kelcie Mc Cray SS Arkansas State

I could live with too...

If we got Brockers AND Perry, that would be sick. I just don't think Perry falls that far. I can't see us picking up 2x DT's, and we almost always pick up a LB. Otherwise, it looks good.

Remember, Tommy Harris Round 1, Tank Johnson Round 2, I would not rule it out.

Would really be on board with that except Daniels /Iowa instead of Randall

How about instead of all that realistic stuff above, we trade Forte and our first to the Bucs for #5, and snag Kalil (assuming Claiborne goes 3 and Richardson 4). Then we trade our third to the Giants for Osi.

Why do the Bucs need Forte?

Why do the Bucs need Forte?

They want Richardson, so presumably they aren't happy with Blount.

That slot in the draft pays way less than Forte wants, and no mileage.
