Michael Bennett to #Seahawks on a 4-year contract reports @ProFootballTalk

And now, as @ProFootballTalk reported, Seattle's deal with DE Michael Bennett is done. Expect it to be four years, about $34 million.

If the rumored numbers are true and the Bears offered the same 8.5M then the whole "Bears won't spend the money" argument is out the window.

Lame. Guess he wanted a better chance to win, which I can respect.

I stopped saying the Bears are Cheaper a long time ago. When they signed Peppers I said I wouldn't say it anymore.

Ya, I agree with that, Emery has spent big money as well (Bringing in Marshall, Cutler deal, Bushrod and MartyB deals were cheap year 1 but expensive overall)

Well, on to Michael Johnson or Lamarr Houston.

Houston is listed as a DE, but it says he played DT somewhere else. at 6'3 300 I would think he is built more like a DT.

I liked Johnson coming out of GT, hope they can make a play at him. Wouldnt it be cheaper to sign him than Bennett?

Who really knows at this point lol. With Everson Griffen signing for around the same money as Bennett I have no clue what to expect anymore.

Rotoworld said Houston, while listed at 300, looks more around the 275 range, he's a DE, and he's fantastic against the run. Getting after the QB he's just kinda meh.

Johnson's interesting, sack number fell big time but he still got after the QB and he's good against the run

28.5M for Bennett...Wow.

All reports say that's less than what the Bears offered.

Respect for goin after titles over $$$. Hopefully the Bears make him regret it by winning one before Seattle.

Everson Griffen, with one career start, gets $8.5M/year with Vikings. Michael Bennett takes $7.125M/year to stay in Seattle.

Wow, that is a steal for him at that price. He was on a 1-yr $5 million contract and now only re-ups for $2.125 more per year? I was really expecting $8-10 for him.

So the Bears offered about 1.3 more and he chose the Seahawks. Hope this sets the market for Johnson and the Bears can get him.

Yup, apparently 2 teams offered more money. I share the same hope. Hoping for Johnson or Houston at 5-7M

Get MJ for 6.5 - 7 and it's good to go

Unicorn's brother can pound sand as far as I'm concerned. Next...

That would have been a fair contract, now to plan B. (which probably isnt much of nothing.)

The title change and first post in this thread threw me off lol. I was like why would Bennett signing with Seattle hurt us financially. I had to do a double take till i realized what happened lol.

The Bears have failed horribly in the past at finding DE's in the draft. I was hoping to see him signed. He may not be Peppers in his prime, but I'd put him up there with Ogunleye.
