I remember when we were talking what we thought great improvement would be and it was 40. It's awesome to see he's on pace to blow that out of the water.

Pretty cool chart for Caleb/Ben. With all the penalties and non-existent run game, this becomes even a bigger example of how good he has been when it is needed.
-
WAS gives up the 9th most passing yards and are the 5th worst in EPA/Pass against. WAS has faced Wilson, Love, Smith, and Penix, and the last 3 threw for over 289 yards and combined for 7 TD and 1 INT in the last 3 games. Geno passed for 289 yards and 3 TDs against WAS and only 117 and 2 TDs against the Bears. So this is a favorable matchup.

I had forgotten about Ekeler. I did find this note in an article on NFL.com stating their opinion on each team's need leading up to the trade deadline. If correct, it could be a big game for Caleb:
-
Ekeler was also lost for the season, and Daniels is coming back from injury. Seeing what he looks like this weekend will give us a better idea. Getting Jarrett, Edwards, and Gordon back will help because they are all solid against the run.
-
This could be tough to call. Bears have a week to rest and prepare. BUT: The Bears rank dead last for run defense. Washington ranks #2 in run offense (largely because of Daniels).

I'm not ready to pin EB yet because it is the same Swift we saw last year. We have a new upgraded interior, even they don't seem to be the difference. Do we look at the OTs? Even BJs comment said it was not the RBs. As for Roschon, ive seen comments elsewhere that say he doesnt catch well, is slow, and maybe pass block is not up to par. BJs comments earlier that said he has to play STs makes me think thats all the coach sees.

My guess is he's not pass blocking as well as BJ wants. On a side note, I'm wondering if Eric Biennamy is the coach for them. He seems to not last long anywhere since he left Andy Reid.

Year 2 - 1st Round WRs Pearsall 20-327, 0 TD Odunze 20-296, 5 TD Nabers 18-271, 2 TD (on IR) Harrison Jr 16-208, 2 TD Thomas 12-164, 0 TD Worthy 5-83, 0 TD Leggette 4-8, 0 TD Man, Leggette was a terrible pick for the Panthers.

Caleb Comparison 2025 - 4 games 4 games with 200 yards passing (100%) 4 games with at least 1 TD pass (100%) 3 games with 60% Comp (only game not 59.5%) (75%) 3 games with 2 or fewer sacks (75%) 2024 - 17 games 8 games with 200 yards passing (47%) 7 games w/o a TD Pass (41%), 7 games with Comp% below 60 (41%) 5 games with 2 or fewer sacks (29%) Also, Caleb is on a 4-game streak with at least 200 yards passing, 3 games was his longest streak last season. Going back to Week 18 last year, he now has 5 straight games with a TD pass. He has thrown only 8 INTs in 692 career attempts, which is the lowest rate in NFL history to start a career.

Braxton was awful handling the bull rush last year too. Caleb was running for his life as Im sure we all remember. Braxton wasnt the only weakness on the OL last year of course, but I think he is done as a Bear, if not right now, then after this season for sure.
-
I agree, and even if he is "recovered" I don't think he has the same strength he had previously, which was already a liability.
-
I firmly believe Braxton hasn't fully recovered from his injury last year. His performance this year has dropped off significantly. If this were the Braxton from the 2024 before the fracture, there wouldn't be all of this talk about his replacement this year, only who do we draft next year as an upgrade.
-
From some reports, that may be where he is headed.
-
It is baffling to me, because he is out there on Special Teams, and is listed as the 2nd string RB on their official depth chart: https://www.chicagobears.com/team/depth-chart

Bears blockers as a team are 3rd in Run Block Win Rate. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46138675/2025-nfl-win-rates-top-teams-players-rankings-pass-run-block

Anyone have a thought about this and why he’s in the doghouse? Understanding that he’s still sorta in concussion protocol (wearing the guardian helmet) could he be the answer at RB needed when it comes to hard charging yards? He’s more of a pounding style runner, or so I thought.
-
He hasnt been inactive yet this year. Being demoted has already affected his value. I just dont think losing OT depth for a 6th or 7th round pick is valuable to the Bears this year.

I just think if the player is going to be inactive, then before you have games with him being inactive, but not for injury, you trade him before you tank his value.

I'll add this - I am not the only one who saw these things early, lots of people on this board agreed. But the passion around defending Fields, Eberflus, Poles and others is why this all started, the name calling and all that. None of this existed for the 20+ years I was on this board before that. Im not saying Im smarter than everyone at ALL, Im saying some people got really mad when I wouldnt budge and stayed true to my belief. And when I end up right about that stuff, I dont bring that up to say how smart I am, but to put a point on it after all the abuse I took for being early. It's natural if you get months of abuse, when it turns out you were right to say something. We can do this again when Kmet or Moore get traded. This whole summer I got heaps of crap about that too. When it happens, Im allowed to say "see?" without being an egotistical jerk. If I wanted to prove I was smart (which I dont) it certainly wouldnt be about football! Anyway, when I come back, lets ALL leave this behind. Please!

The Oline hasnt been playing well and its not logical to think it hasnt affected Swift. He is a third down type of back and not the pounder in the RB room, that person just hasnt emerged according to their plans. I think he has did find with what has been asked of him. He is effective when he gets in the open, not when he is hit before he gets to the line of the scrimmage. I think Monangai has showed some pop but the line play has restricted his play also. Not sure what they can change in two weeks, but we will find out.

You always come up with great wisdom at the right moment. An argument from a couple of weeks ago and some people just cant let it go. So much to talk about now. Its been so peaceful for the last couple of weeks.

If the Bears dont have any value for Braxton, you aint getting anything if you did trade him. Who is your depth if you traded Braxton? One injury and your back to having problems again. Kiran is next in line and he hasnt looked good. Having depth is much more valuable than a 6th or 7th round pick next yr. Ozzy would be the only backup OT on the roster.
