CB is a greater need for sure. Steveson has allowed 5 TDs this season and QBs basically have a perfect passer rating against him. Johnson hasn't allowed a TD but has been horrible in coverage, a penalty machine, and an unwilling tackler. Also, CJ Gardner-Johnson was released by BUF.

Caleb is now 5th in QB Rating (104.6), 2nd in Comp% (70.9%), 4th in CPOE (+4.7%), 3rd in EPA/DB (+0.22), and 2nd in QBR (77.0). No matter the metric used, he is a legit top 5 QB. A fun fact, the Bears have no trailed since Caleb returned from injury, they have either been tied 0-0 or led, amazing.

This was always absolutely ridiculous because Williams was never like Love in any way, and he always had the highest floor of the group. So the bust label was butt hurt media members.

  6. I've never been a big fan of the "football experts" and their predictions because of stuff like this. If someone like Sam Darnold can win a Super Bowl before his draft mate Josh Allen, who really knows how these guys will turn out in the long run? So far, four of these guys have made the playoffs, and one has already played in a Super Bowl. Hopefully, by this time next year, we'll have another one who has not only made it to the Super Bowl but won it.

At the beginning of Poles term, we discussed the Polian mantra of needing 12+ Blue Chip players to be in the window. Let's dive in. On offense we have Caleb, Thuney, Wright, Swift, Loveland, Burden and Odunze. There's 7, with potentially our rookie center. On defense we have Simmons, Gordon, Bryant and Thieneman. There's 4, with Sweat, Jackson, Jarrett, Booker and Muhammad on the bubble. Can we make Ben Johnson our 12th?
  8. 1 game at a time. Bucs have backs to the wall and are a well coached team with an elite defense and elite running game...plus Baker at QB who is more than serviceable. Bucs are going to try and make us make mistakes and bludgeon us....Bears got to stay focus and play sharp here.

I will go on record - I don't have any desire for Mack unless it is near free. I'll roll with our current DE's + Shemar and Ayo coming back and what we have over Mack. With that said - I would be all-in if we could trade valuable draft capital for a dynamic corner back. For example - if I could get a legit DB for a 2nd and future pick I would legitimately consider it, as long as that piece was out there. Sauce is injured so a bad example, but he's a 25 year old DB...I can't imagine Colts move him for less than a FRP, but if I could get him for a 2nd and a 3rd or a 2nd and future 2nd I think I would highly consider that type of move.
  10. That aged poorly...
  11. The good: Caleb Williams - Had he not missed 3 games, he would be the MVP front runner. That's how good he's been. Should still be in the conversation anyways after tonight. Jeffery Simmons - Instant impact superstar. Defense can be scary if they add another DL/CB Austin Booker - Lowkey had two major plays, a blocked FG and a tipped pass that lead to a critical interception that allowed them to seal the game. The bad: Colston Loveland - Can't put the ball on the ground. Hands are not as reliable as they were last year. Needs to be better moving forward. Run game - They ran it effectively enough, but it's clear they miss Monangai. They're just not getting as many explosives and it's putting more of a burden on the QB to do everything. Need to get that fixed coming out of the bye. Special teams - Minus the blocked FG, they looked bad, again, last night. Coverage was bad, too many penalties, Tory Taylor's punts weren't particularly good, and Zavion Thomas is looking like a bad 3rd round pick through 8 games. No vision on his returns. Corners - Another atrocious ending to halftime, giving up another TD with hardly any time left after the offense had just scored. Johnson and Stevenson are the two literal worst cornerbacks in football. Can't allow that to happen anymore. Poles needs to find someone on the market. Final thoughts: What a statement game from this team. They were already Superbowl contenders before this game, but a blowout win like this, against that opponent, in the hardest stadium to play at, was a thing of beauty. They just might be the best team in the NFL. There's nobody they can't beat now with Simmons. They need to finish off Tampa Bay and go into the bye at 7-2 before hopefully getting some more guys back, and who knows, maybe another player or two via trade? If I were Ryan Poles, I am going to be even more aggressive than I was planning to be before after watching that game.
  12. Usually we gripe about how the refs get too involved in the game and sway things one way or the other. For the most part early on it was like they weren’t really there (which was nice). However I have to ask, did the Seahawks get robbed at least twice early on? The one where their receiver was going across the middle and got whacked by Lewis (I think it was?). The play where he got completely folded up. Then just a little later when Darnold was scrambling and got hi-lowed with the hit from Devin Bush? That one of the two seemed pretty apparent. Just curious why neither of those might’ve been called.
  13. We need to go into the bye with another win. TB has turned into a running team. They ran for over 300 yards last week and won without Mayfield completing a single pass. If we let this game slip away, we lose the credibility we just gained. So, can we do it? Will we shut down their running backs and force Mayfield to throw? There are no excuses available. The defense needs to keep making a statement. We are the Monsters of the Midway!
  14. Feels like a trap game, Bears need to dominate and go into the bye at 7-2. TB didn't complete a pass and beat ATL 16-0 in a rainstorm. They beat CAR 43-13 the week prior to their defense is playing at a high level and they have a good running game. Their defense has not allowed over 23 pts since Week 1. So this team is better than their 3-5 record indicates. The Bears need to take care of business at home. I don't think Johnson will allow a let down, Bears 30-17.
  15. Outside of Stevenson getting burnt on one play and the TD after the Loveland fumble that gave Seattle the ball at the 25, the Seahawks only scored 3 other pts. The defense also had multiple sacks taken away due to holding penalties in the secondary, and a Red Zone INT taken away as well. How about the Bears getting a delay of game penalty while the Seattle player is taking 15 seconds to get to the LOS? I understand you have to allow substitutions, but you can't let half the play clock bleed down to 0. I don't recall ever seeing that without the play clock being reset.
  16. I can’t remember a game with such consistent defensive pressure by the Bears front 4. The sacks didn’t come, but they could have had nearly ten if things had gone slightly one way or another. 2018 was more of an unbelievable interception year than sack year. Only Mack impressed. 2012 was mostly Peppers 2010 was lovie and the bend but don’t break. 2006 didn’t even have a lot of sacks, even if the pressure from Brown, Ogun, Tank, and Tommie was consistent. This really could be a special group.

Yeah agree on the CB. If you only got enough for one you have to go CB. If two, then CB and Mack. If he does two then he’s pushed all in to the center of the table.
  18. I was just thinking about that and how significant it must be to go 2-0 against the previous years SB teams. Well here’s the answer.
  19. This game was so fun! Offense did what it needed. Caleb is developing so much year over year. So efficient tonight. Makes it look routine and he hasn’t even done the wow and they are producing. He has a whole nother level of growth still but it is so fun to see how much he has evolved since BJ got here. And Simmons is a monster - not only is he elite - he makes the other guys better too. I think we will be loving Sweat again too - dude had a monster game and we are about to get some big Thieneman moments too I predict (I think this new pass rush is going to set him up for some more picks and maybe some pick six’s). Is this real? This is so much fun!!! One game at a time - let’s go Bears!!!

That phone call they showed Poles on in the box, lips readers are saying he said a 5th. Does thismean Mack for 5th? I think the Bears need a CB more because our DEs look better with Simmons. I seen another Simmons connection, him and Lynch played 2 years together in Tennessee.
  21. This statement game bumps their superbowl odds a lot. Caleb MVP odds took a hike up too. Trading Ten for Simmons might be just as huge as the Carolina trade ove the next 3-4 years.
  22. Getting the rookie MM back is a start and eventually Coby Bryant. Wish they got more than Phillips for Dexter trade. JJ showed a little more fight tonight after that wiff, but needs a lot more grit. He hears/sees the call outs on him, can he answer is the question.
  23. The Bears just beat both Super Bowl teams from last year in back to back prime time games. That's wild.
  24. Dominant win, signature win. Outside of Jaylon and Stevenson, the Bears win by 30. Get Monangai back and get a CB that can cover and they may not lose again.
  25. Poles is on the Phone during a critical game. Trade winds are blowing. Man, I'd love to know who he was talking to. The Chargers? The Ravens? Or ???
