  1. Past hour

  2. Its easy to look back and criticize transactions. What I do know is, he made the two best moves this team has ever had. BJ and Caleb. Also, the net result of all of these mistakes was a 12 win season. I suspect we do that again. He is a C+ to me, not great but not terrible. Its okay to have your own opinion, for me, its about results . Call him lucky with Caleb ad BJ, but he is the one that did that and he will not be remembered for failed 3rd round picks. When he took the job, he said it would take 5 yrs to be a winner and compete for SBs. So far so good. He took his job on Jan 25 2022,
  3. The Bears are one of a few teams that have hit on the waiver wire. Last year it was D'Marco Jackson. It's one thing to hit on a UDFA, but a waiver wire one is rarer. Now if Poles could just draft better and stop trying to be the smartest guy in the room. The draft day video of Poles smoking and joking about how the broadcast doesn't have video on Hyppolite is damning. He really thought he was outsmarting the league and now he looks like the idiot. It is one thing to take a guy later than his projected ADP, that shows value, and in some cases patience. Reaching for guys has rarely, if ever, worked out. Burden was drafted later, looks like that will work out. Same for Monangai, same for van den Berg. Those are value picks with the traits you like. Reaching for those guys rarely works. Velus Jones, Amegadjie, Hyppolite, Taylor, just to name a few. Pickens felt like a reach too, but maybe not as much. I really hope he changes his draft approach with Ben Johnson now influencing those picks.
  4. Today

  5. If I understand the rules proper, there is a short term (4 week) pup list and a 6 week designation. Not sure how they decide those actions.
  6. I was surprised by Sanborn, T Smith, and James Lynch being cut. They did certain moves to be able to move players to IR short term and not expose certain players to waivers. So does anyone know , they are allowed to have two vets on the PS? I thought only 1st and 2st year players were allowed to be on it. I dont remember the rules. One thing I like about Poles is he has no problem moving on from draft mistakes of which he has many. Its about building the roster thru many avenues. 4 UDFAs making the team says a lot about our Scouting dept. We have 18 first and second year players on the team. Also we have coaches now that can develop players, never had that trust before.
  7. This one cat that does a lot of Bears vids said he and one other player will probably end up on IR tomorrow - and thought the same about that TE. And he thinks of the two vacated roster spots Sanborn will be called back to fill one.
  8. I saw that a lot of the ‘new’ players appear to be on defense. Pretty significant overhaul there.
  9. A few changes are coming for sure. Being a playoff caliber team as well as one proven to give anyone a chance to earn a spot is going to pay dividends with our ability to attract talent for the practice squad.
  10. Rumor is the 4th te will likely get put on injured list. My guess is they want to sneak him onto roster and hide him into practice squad.
  11. We won our division last year and now we have 11 rookies on our 53. Four are UDFAs. 20% of the team has no NFL experience. It’s what you might expect during the first year of a rebuild.
  12. Sure but that player won’t likely be on the game day active list. You can always bring up a player from your PS when needed. Or has Hayden Large been some special teams standout we haven’t noticed?
  13. The initial version of the 53 has some interesting situations. Just 4 LBs kept with Elliot as #4, Sanborn and Hyppolite both cut. I expect one or both back on the 53 or practice squad. Could we also be planning on signing another LB who was cut? 5 Safeties kept around. That doesn’t seem like a long term situation either. 5 CBs…with the new guy on the 53. I’m ok with that. I’d expect Beanie Bishop to get added to the PS while he serves out his suspension and we see what we have with the new guy. 5 DTs: Grady, Jordan VDB, Gallimore (wasn’t real impressed by him in preseason), Loving, and Street. I was critical of Grady’s play last year and not sure what to expect this year, but I’ll admit having him mentor two young and talented players in VDB and Loving is an ideal situation. 5 DEs: Davenport cut likely goes to PS. That’s odd for the former 1st Rd star, but nice you can do that with these veterans now. Congratulations to Kromah for making the 53. Daniel Hardy rounds it out but seems like once he’s primarily special teams focused especially if Davenport is on the PS. 5 WRs: Kaden Davis is likely a PS player. 10 Oline: Ozzy is on the list so that’s great news. I’m less enthused about Benedet as a backup OT this year but I can see him easily being the 6th Oline Ben uses on those rare plays when he goes heavy. 4 TEs: Keeping Hayden Large around surprises me.
  14. Yesterday

  15. The next 24 hours should be interesting. Besides Bryant, Large & Ozzy could all 3 wind up on PUP. I also agree with others that our RB room still may see a change at #3. LB is thin, as is CB (even with some of the Safeties being able to fill in at Corner). We have a lot of changes coming.
  16. For sure. And that portends well.
  17. If we plan on using a relatively high number of 3 TE sets, having a 4th TE might not be a luxury, but a need in case of injuries.
  18. Kromah and Loving played well and earned the job. 4 TEs also, surprised but like that Strange kid. Practice squad will be interesting to see wants to remain a Bear
  19. I like Smith - seems like a good cover corner depth piece. I get he has had some serious injuries - but they seemed like that - serious injuries vs a fluke.
  20. On Monday I think Smith and the TE large will both get put on IR opening up two spots. Hypolite was over drafted and may be out of the league a year later. Can’t stay on field - I’m curious if he is on practice squad - believe he was waived with an injury designation.
  21. Yeah tomorrow there will be some movement. Coby Bryant has to go to the IR too, dont know why he hasnt already, not sure the advantage. Roschon is still not safe, we will see who goes on waivers. I expect we'll pick up a 6th WR too. But for today, here's the depth chart. Green players are new this year, so you can see all the turnover. Oh and Im not saying JVDB is a "starter" its just how I put it on the sheet. Call it a 53 man roster and a rough depth chart.
  22. I'm surprised about Terrell Smith. One question I have is, why is Coby Bryant on the 53 instead of IR or PUP? I admittedly don't pay much attention to those rules and regulations...
  23. I presume we will see a few guys move to IR and then a couple guys picked up. LB looks thin. DB they went light but have a ton of safeties - Lewis can obviously play both. A 4th TE surprises me as well.

  25. agreed. Some players get the big money and that’s it.
  26. Never blamed the coaches, stating this is year 2 of DA and we are not going to see this vision. It's a huge let down to
  27. More or less all of it although Overthecap just shows his cap hit as 1.075mil, there was no guaranteed money. Contract was listed as $1.2mil value so my guess is there was some type of bonus in there that he didn't achieve.
  28. I don't see how any of that is the coaches fault.
