The new name some bears fans want is Dexter Lawrence.. He had 1/2 sack last year. The next two years he will get 54 mil at 29 and the reason he wants to be traded is he wants more money. He is a better player than any DT we have but at 6'4" and 330. Ran a 5 05 40. Not sure that fits the new speed scheme.

We all agree we need an improved pass rush but we also need better DE depth. This draft poses the opportunity to draft one or the other. Guys like Myles Garrett or Maxx Crosby who can give you both are somewhat rare. My question is which do you prefer we draft because we have options in the first couple rounds of players that go one way or the other? The obvious answer is we need a DE but having one really good pass rusher on the roster would change things for us in games where we can get a big lead early. Wow. Apparently the Browns restructured Myles Garrett's contract, so if we traded for him, this would be our cap number for him: 2026 $9.1M 2027 $17M 2028 $21.3M 2029 $58M OR $5M dead cap to cut him 2030 $58M OR Nothing to cut him Those are three VERY affordable years for Myles Garrett, and a $5M out after that. This makes him very affordable for us. The only question is what will the Browns need in trade to eat all that cap. Very interesting.

I was looking up some numbers, basically to see how rare a situation Myles Garrett is in with his level of individual dominance combined with team failures and right off the bat, he is definitely up in the top 10 all-time. With a career AV of 123, he has only played in 3 playoff games. There are only 7 players with higher AV and 3 or fewer playoff games. 6 played pre-1970, leaving Willie Roaf as the only modern day player to have more AV with 3 or fewer playoff games. He has a 145 AV with only 3 playoff games. So if CLE misses the playoffs again in 2026, Garrett will pass Roaf during the 2027 season with the highest AV with fewest playoff games in NFL history (SB era). …

Our first two visits happened. They brought in a RB, Seth McGowan/ UK and a center from Kentucky Jager Burton.. He is the 17th ranked OC on draft buzz. An UDFA type. McGowan is the 9th rated RB on draft buzz. 4.49 speed. He is an explosive type RB with a 43.5 vertical and 131" broad. Overall rank #170. Would be a mid round pick. Pick 129?

Comparing the Bears roster to the rest of the league by position group, they only have 5 players in the top 10 at their position in terms of AAV, Thuney, Jonah Jackson, Kmet, Odeyingbo (as Edge2), and Gordon (as Slot CB). Technically, Gordon is the highest-paid Bears player in relation to the rest of the NFL as the 2nd highest paid Slot CB. Odeyingbo is the next as the 3rd highest Edge2, then Thuney at 7, Jackson and Kmet at 8. Gordon's is the only deal that will be that high for another few years. Odeyingbo will be gone next year, and all the rest will slide out of the top 10 with other players getting new deals. My assumption is Darnell Wright will get added to the top …

I don't mind that the Bears are being modest with their free agent acquisitions this year. They were one play from the NFCC, had a ton of injuries, and most of their offseason losses (snap-wise) were on the defensive side of the ball, where they need upgrades anyway. Also, just like every other year, there have been some outrageous deals going out. Jaelan Phillips led all free agents with $30M AAV and had 2 sacks in 8 games for PHI. Pierce resigned with the Colts but still got $28.5M, which is crazy high for a WR2. Hendrickson got $28M and Lindenbaum got $27M. Rarely do signings like that work out in the long run. With the unexpected retirement of Dalman, the Bears lost 5 of their top 9 players in snap count, and 6 out of the top 11. Those 6 were all starters. Then they also lost what I would call 4 key contributors, players with a significant number of snaps. Here is a quick rundown of the losses and gains so far and how I think they will address them: ADD/SUB LIST STARTERS: 1. C Drew Dalman (1154+15) >>> C Garrett Bradbury. On paper, a downgrade, but it may actually be a pass pro upgrade and run block downgrade) 2. Sounded like he had an offer from Bears and Pats - ended up choosing to reunite with Vrabel. Wish him the best. Was hoping we'd keep him. Fact we were still talking to him tells me we may still add a vet safety yet. I still think a 1yr deal with Brisker could make some sense. Maybe give him some upside with incentives and allow him to hit the market again next year.

Ravens back out of the deal - will be interesting to see what the new going rate for Crosby is.

Another solid depth piece, looks to fill the McCloud role (who was burnt way too much when he was on the field), so this may be bigger upgrade than face value.

Seems like a lower-end depth piece. Played a year with DA in 2022 in NO, so there is some inside knowledge on what he brings.
