Listening earlier today, I caught an update segment on the SCORE. Terry Boers is reporting his source inside the Bears says that Lovie wanted to hire Martz and that Jerry veto'ed the move. Peace

Here is a link to an article on the Trib's website tonight: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,0,860559.story Question that I have for everyone is that with the way Tommie Harris breaks down, Gaines Adams passing and no idea on Wale at this point, would it be within our interest to see if we are able to make a run at Peppers. I have always like him and the effort that he brings and he is one of those dominant type of players that it maybe nice to add him to the defensive mix. Do we have enough money available and will the McCaskeys agree to giving Peppers a respectable contract to help shore up the defensive line a little bit?

  5. Bears | Martz envisions Hester as a dominant slot receiver Comment (0) Tue, 09 Feb 2010 09:00:21 -0800 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz said during a radio interview that he envisions WR Devin Hester as a dominant slot receiver, a shift that could result in him being removed from the starting lineup. However, Martz could utilize plenty of three-wide receiver sets, which would provide Hester with ample opportunity to start. "Devin Hester in that role could just be stupid good, if that makes sense to you," Martz said. "What we can do with him inside, the matchups we can get with him on third corners, saf…

So the Bears are the biggest players in free agency, for sure, but they aren't the only ones. The Lions are making some aggressive moves of their own: so far, they've inked Nate Burleson from the Seahawks and Kyle Vanden Bosch from the Titans, plus they traded to get Corey Williams from the Browns. None of those are blockbuster moves like the Peppers signing, but they're all pretty smart, I think. Burleson isn't a great #1 receiver, but as a #2 paired with Calvin Johnson, he's miles better than Bryant Johnson or anybody else on Detroit's roster. I think he could be a credible complementary receiver, which they haven't had in a while. As for KVB and Williams, I …

49ers, Jimmy Garoppolo agree to five-year deal Posted by Michael David Smith on February 8, 2018, 1:36 PM EST Getty Images The 49ers have their franchise quarterback locked up for years to come. Jimmy Garoppolo has agreed to a five-year deal with the 49ers, according to multiple reports. The full numbers aren’t out yet, but Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that the total value is $137.5 million, which would make it just a bit better than the five-year, $135 million deal Matthew Stafford got from the Lions last year. At $27.5 million a year it’s the biggest per-year average on a long-term contract in NFL history, although there’s no word on how much …

Pace keeps things close to the vest before every draft so there's not a lot of chatter about the Bears. Nonetheless, I'd still like to have a thread where we can put all draft rumors. Technically what other teams do in the draft is Bears related. Let's start off with some Bears tidbits... http://draftanalyst.com/small-school-gems-offense Bears have interest in a small school QB, Connor Jessop, and a small school OG, Matthew Gono. Three NFC North teams are showing interest in Gono. I'd say Jessop is a UDFA candidate. I don't see much anticipation but he is accurate. Gono has some good raw talent and could be in play very late in the draft but it's …

Just based on career stats alone which LB would you take? I'm just curious with the healthy debate of how un-instinctive Edmunds is and that it's a liability early in his career. This is the stat line for the top 4 LBs in the draft (Chubb played DE). In a blind test this is about which numbers catch your eye in terms of what you want to add to our defense. (I have not posted a poll on this new site so I'm not sure on the formatting and if this is going to end up a double post.)

Bears trade up and get a highly productive WR. This has Nagy written all over it. Smith was for Fangio, Daniels was for Hiestand, and Miller was for Nagy. The Bears traded #105 (4th rounder) and next year's 2nd for #51. Based on how they value draft picks where next year's are worth one round less, we won the trade (in terms of value).

View this from the perspective of our personnel. Robinson is easily the equal of Jeffrey, except he's better. Shaheen matches their TE at least in terms of athletic ability, and of course we have Burton. Defense's have to respect Howard on the run option at the snap. Then see the play design with quick hitting routes and imagine Anthony Miller with his quickness making those inside or outside breaks. Topping it off is Trubisky's quick and accurate release. We've seen how well Foles can execute this. If he makes the right reads these plays will be hard to defend. The video includes film of the Vikings defense trying to figure out what the Eagles were doing. …

This article poses an interesting question: https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2019/02/01/5-moves-the-chicago-bears-should-make-in-free-agency/4/ Should the Bears go after Clay Matthews? Does anyone really think he's going to sign for a reasonable and minimal contract considering his production the past few years? Would he start over Floyd?

We have picks 126 (4th), 205 (6th), 222 (7th), 238 (7th). I think Pace is going to make a trade to get either one more pick or to get back into the 5th Rd from 205. To get that done he'll either drop back from 126 or he'll use one of next years' picks to move up.
