Reading a Trib article talking about what to do if/when Pace is healthy. Article mostly seems to point to the greater need of finding out whether Williams is their LT or not, but in reading the article, Briggs makes the following comment. While he has been maligned for his play much of the season, he held up blocking the Vikings' Jared Allen solo before being hurt. I read that and just froze. To say he blocked Jared Allen solo is equal to saying, hey, Jonathan Quinn started at QB. Just because you point out a situation a player was in doesn't factor how they played. Far too often we are forced to see the DL jump offsides. Far too often we are forced to see the OL twitch in crucial moments. Far too often we are forced to see the WR run the wrong route. Far too often we are forced to see the LB pick the wrong gap. Far too often we are forced to see the DB make horrible tackling attempts. This is the most poorly coached Bears team I have ever seen. I don't know what this coaching staff must do to get fired, but this is ridiculous.

It is sort of interesting to see where both of these players are a couple years after they both dominated the return game in 2007. Since then, Hester has been converted to a full time WR and has 0 return TD's and is near the bottom in Punt Returns (8.1 AVG). Receiving-wise, Hester has scored 6 Receiving TDs since 2007 with over 1,300 yards in two seasons (49th in receiving yards in 2008 and currently 43rd in 2009). Hub was on the score just a little bit ago and he saying that the Bears have already reached an agreement with Martz but "they are soooo afraid of what Cutler will think" and that is the reason he hasn't been hired yet. I will also no longer listen to what Martz says. Denver just traded Peyton Hillis, this years 6th and a late round pick next year for Brady Quinn. Kyle had a good year with us then gets traded away. He put up good numbers last year for Denver and now who know what will happen. Poor guy just cant catch a break.

Bears signed DT Matt Toeaina off the Bengals' practice squad. A sixth-round pick out of Oregon in April, Toeaina immediately becomes the Bears' fifth defensive tackle. He was known as a run stopper with the Ducks. Bears signed former Rams DT Jimmy Kennedy on Tuesday. The majority of this board wants a OT in the first round. The question i want to pose is who is the Bears Offensive Star,Olin Kruetz??? I understand that fixing the Oline should be a priority but I look at the good teams around the league and their Offensive star is not an offensive lineman. There was an interesting article on the Chicago Tribune website entitled Scout Talk: Senior Bowl winners and losers that talked about the players who played in the Senior Bowl and which ones may be on the rise and which ones are falling out of grace with some of the GMs & scouts. One player we have discussed quite a bit in other threads was the first mentioned: A good article mentioning many other players, well worth the read for draftniks.

Just kidding. But really, if you need proof that stats can be very misleading, check this out. Look at Urlacher's stats. Since his rookie season he's never had more than 6 sacks so 5 sacks this season is pretty good. Url had 5 picks, which is almost twice as many as he's ever had in a season before and blew away his old stats in terms of passes defended with 12, literally twice as many as he'd ever put up before.
