The Ultimate Guide to NFL Defense If you ever wanted to read an in depth article on NFL Defensive Formations, this is it. A worthwhile read if you are a serious fan wanting to better understand the defensive formations used in today's game (and even some that are no longer used much).

I just thought I'd throw this out there as a final thought (a la Jerry Springer....) Jay is my quarterback. He's a damn good QB. Not great. Not yet. Maybe he will be, maybe he won't. But I will say he's the best we've had in years. I also see improvement year to year. If he keeps improving, we might be extremely dangerous for many years. I may not like Jay's propensity to throw off the back foot. I may not like some of the decisions he makes. I may not like some of the errant throws he makes. But, I love that he is a tough son of a bitch. He may not be pissing blood like Jimmy Mac or cutting his ringfinger off to play like Lott. But, he's taken about…

Some people in my life think I have intuition, which leads me to being called a psychic, or if I misspelled that( psycho.) I think we trade down with Jacksonville and get 33 and 64 with our first rounder. Jacksonville will trade up to grab a QB they covet. 33-Arthur Brown/LB 50-David Amerson/CB 64-Brian Winters/OG 117-Akeem Spence/DT 153-Khail Holmes/)C 188-Jasper Collins/WR

This is pretty much expected, with Trent Edwards taking his job. There's a few teams he could/would be an upgrade for, and he has a short contract. If I were the bills, I'd try hard to honor his trade request, maybe pick up another draft pick or a player some team wanted to discard. With a young team in need of talent, I think you do have to move him, even if you only get a mid-round pick for him or something like that.

Barring any last-minute stat updates, Nopper gets the win of the year, after losing 10 straight, they come out and beat PapaBear by the smallest margin of victory that I can remember in our league, eeking out a 0.02 pt victory over PapaBear 149.68 to 149.66 as Chris Carson loses a yard rushing in the last few seconds of garbage time vs Minnesota on MNF. If he doesn't lose the yard, PapaBear wins and is the #5 seed. SuperBearsSuperBowl beats MadLith, knocking him out of the playoff picture and jumping up to the #5 Seed. Seeds 1-4 were unchanged by the games this week. Week 14 Week 15 Week 16 (Championship) 1 --- R…

The last time we had a pro-bowl type QB and won the Super Bowl was back in 1985. The number he wore was #9. Now we have a probowl QB and flip that number and what do you get.....#6.

Just wanted to send out a friendly reminder to all those that participated in last year's TalkBears leagues. A few of the leagues have been renewed, so if you played last year, get back in and activate your team. If not, we will start looking for replacement Gm's.

I started to talk about this in another thread, but felt it might be an interesting topic to start new. We have something like $30m in cap space. I think we can all agree we are not going to spend $80m in cash, or whatever, to sign 4 or 5 big names, including our own. So the question is, how will we use up all that space. Signing a bunch of mid tier FAs will not use up the space. W/ that in mind, I am wondering if we will see some big roster bonuses this year, as opposed to using just signing bonuses. By doing this, we would still use up the cap space this year, while at the same time, improving our situation in the future. Harris would be a prime c…

From PFT, Cutler fined $20,000 for "abusive conduct" Jay Cutler has doled out a lot of abuse of late. He punished Bears fans and fantasy owners with five interceptions Thursday night, not to mention viewers tuning in to Thursday Night Football looking for a quality game. Now he's been fined $20,000 for "abusive conduct" toward a game official in Chicago's loss to the Cardinals five days ago, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Cutler was flagged during the game for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when he complained to referee Ed Hochuli about a non-call on a fourth-and-4 in the third quarter in which Cutler thought Greg Olsen was held. Ill Take it, this was definately a dangerous game for the Bears. With New Englnad looming next week it woulda been very easy to be upset this game. Detroit is definately a dangerous team and the result was win, but it was ugly. ILL take it anyday. Go Bears.

If he's willing to take a backup position and knows his role I really wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him. I think if you surround him with some actual talent like we have here in Chicago he could end up being a solid QB. And with the Bears bringing back Jerrod Johnson, working out Boyd and Lynch, and then also last years talks of them running the pistol/read option plays, Pryor, at 6'6" with 4.32 speed he'd be a good fit to do just that. What says you?

  19. Smiley's shoulder is shot. The Dolphins know it. The San Francisco 49ers knew it when Smiley signed with Miami as an unrestricted free agent in 2008. Smiley missed the final eight games of the season with the shoulder that required surgery in 2007. He injured the shoulder again in 2009 and missed one game and was a backup in three others because of that injury. The 2007 surgery apparently didn't go very well. Smiley, according to two sources, has lost strength in the shoulder over the past two years. He often struggles to lift his right arm over his head and has lost some of the punch and explosion generated at the shoulder. That wouldn't be a problem for a sch…
