There are a lot of choices of people covering the Bears. Lately I've been watching on YouTube, The Sick Podcast with Adam Rank, Swift Sports Network, Hoge and Johns , and Chicago Football Connection. On podcasts, Chicago Bears with Thayer and Joniack, the Noname podcast with Olin Kreutz. Twitter with Jacob Infante and Gabe Gabriel. What day you

This is what the Bears will be facing between now and the next GB game. QBR Rating: Week 4 - Jones - 27th - Jones is terrible Week 5 - Cousins - 20th - it depends on what Cousins shows up Week 6 - Wentz (TNF) - 24th - Wentz was sacked 9 times by JAX Week 7 - Jones/Hoyer - 25th - Jones hurt, Hoyer may start Week 8 - Rush - 3rd - It seems like he has peaked and will only come down once there is tape on him. Week 9 - Tua - 1st - I don't think he is this good or will be able to keep this up all season. Week 10 - Goff - 8th - Goff is way too high for who he is, he will come down too. Week 11 - Mariota - 12th - Surprisingly high for what looked like a ca…

What if we beat Dallas with the same dominance that we beat NE? So what changes ? We will be in the running for a playoff berth in a less than stellar NFC. 6 0f the next 9 games are at home. Buffalo and Philly are almost sure loses but the rest of the schedule is winnable. We have a ton of young players, are they starting to jell and play better. The answer is YES. A weak spot is our D line. In the last 3 games they are holding teams to 105 yards rushing a game. Down from the pervious average of 185. Our DBs are starting to take over games. With the ability to stop the run and get more TOs that is putting us in the position to win every game. Getsy is star…

Apologies - I was traveling in rural parts from Friday-Monday (with family) and during that time an issue with our server (not the server company) popped up. Basically - the database maxed out (I keep a lot of back-ups and needed to trash a bunch of legacy back-ups). It started happening last week intermitently but wasn't aware of the broader issue. Unfortunately - I was traveling in remote parts starting Friday so was NOT aware and when I became aware, well, I wasn't about to cut a rural vacation with my family short (sorry guys - but priorities). But yesterday I dug my car out (it was burried in 2 feet of snow from the storms we got on Friday night / Saturday w…

Surprise here to see Fields ranked among the top 15. Also shocking is seeing him ranked ahead of Rodgers (14) and Stafford (22). This author also has Brock Purdy listed as 15th best QB in the NFL which is just ridiculous IMO...and I'm a fan of Purdy's. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-qb-index-ranking-all-68-starting-quarterbacks-from-the-2022-nfl-season https://www.si.com/nfl/bears/news/justin-fields-gains-high-spot-in-qb-rankings

Really interested in how people see the Bears’ CBs shaking out. Obviously help is needed but what kind of help kind of depends on how you see the current roster: Jaylon Johnson - His contract is up next year. Is he a #1 despite his lack of takeaways? Do you extend him this off-season? Kyler Gordon - He has a rough start last season but got better and definitely flashed. Is he an outside CB or do you leave him in the slot? If he’s a slot guy who is your #2? Kindle Vildor - Do you trust him? Seems like one of those guys who has done well relative to where he was drafted but you can’t really count on. Worth keeping absent better options but I’d like to have be…

Swift Sports Network put out a short video about Poles interest in Jake Witt. Seems he has been in touch with him for over a year, interviewed him, took him out to dinner, etc... Then I read an interview held with him on windycitygridiron.com. I suspect Poles will draft him with one of our 7th round picks or gamble and pick him up as a UFA. One way or another, don't be surprised if this kid doesn't wind up as a special project for Poles on our practice squad.

  8. I was looking over some stats and noticed a few things that got me excited. Regardless of what you may think, the Bears are closer to the 2022 Eagles than they are to the 2022 Bears this year. Jalen Hurts was in his 3rd year and finally broke thru with a new WR1 in AJ Brown. He ended the year with the following line: Passing: 306-460, 66.5%, 3701 yds, 22 TD, 6 INT; Rushing: 165 ATT, 760 yds, 13 TD If you simply give Fields the same number of attempts for both passing and rushing, his numbers (from 2022 w/o Moore) would look like this: Passing: 277-460, 60.4%, 3243 yds, 25 TD, 16 INT; Rushing: 165 ATT, 1179 yds, 9 TD Outside of the INTs, that is…

Here's a couple videos with some good thoughts about our running game with Braxton Jones and Darnell Wright. Glynn Morgan explains how pulling either OT could make it really hard to stop our run game. If he's right in Week 1 GB could be in for a surprise. I like Schmitz's analysis on Braxton Jones and since he covers his run blocking you can see how he was utilized last year. The assumption is we'll now be doing the same type of plays from left or right.

After the Kmet extension, $3.6M got applied to the 2023 cap, bringing the Bears cap space down to $28.4M, still the highest available cap in the NFL. The next 4 teams are the Cards with $25.9M, Jets with $23.6M, Panthers with $20.6M, and Cowboys with $19.6M. So only 2 teams over $25M and 4 over $20M left. The Bears could take on a vet for a $7.5M cap hit this year and still have the 3rd biggest cap. Poles has the Bears in a great position as they can still spend and save some to rollover for next year.

Looking at the current roster, it seems like the top 46 players are set unless something extreme happens. That leaves 7 slots open. Using last year's 53-man roster position composition, here are the battle spots, 3 on offense, 4 on defense: On offense, it looks like the last WR spot is still up for grabs and is ESBs' to lose. By adding Moore, the WR room was knocked down a slot, which makes Pettis and Webster likely cut candidates. 6 WR? Can only have one of the following 6 players: WR6 (ESB vs Pettis vs Webster vs Ford vs Fountain vs Reed) TE3 still seems totally up for grabs. Will they go the H-Back route and Tonges or try for a more traditional 3rd TE?…

  12. This may not sound like a big deal, but TE was an issue last year after Kmet, and the Bears needed 3 on the 53-man roster. This really upgrades TE3 from the likes of Chase Allen and Jake Tonges to Marcedes Lewis.

  13. The more I look into this, the more I believe Fields is going to easily throw for more than 3500 yards. We are just so tainted by the last two years that we can't see past those. Trubisky averaged 208 yds/g for the Bears. Even in just a 16 game season, he averaged 3328 yds per season. That includes his rookie year where they barely let him pass. Trubisky threw for 3223 yds in 2018 (in 14 games), that was 230 Y/G, which would be 3910 for 17 games. So who did Mitch have to throw to? These were his top 7 targets (ARob, Gabriel, Cohen, Burton, Miller, Howard, and Josh Bellamy)! The leader in receiving yardage was ARob with 754! I forgot how bad that offense was beca…

Torn Achilles. At his age could be career ending. Regardless of what the Bears fan in me thinks about him it does suck to possibly end your career that way.

It's funny how much crap this guy takes because he is not Kelce or Kittle in their prime. Sure he is probably not a true top 5 TE, but he is constantly in the top 10 in most categories, yet it seems like people treat him like a dud. Here is where Kmet is at after 4 weeks for TEs: 5th in receptions 5th in yards T-2nd TDs T-2nd 1st Downs Since the start of 2021, Kmet is 11th in receptions, 10th in yards, T-9th in TDs, and 12th in 1st Downs. Thoughts?

Good move, surprised he signed it with all the stuff going on and with the team's record. I am sure it is a nice raise.

  20. Dust settling but multiple reports popping up that Cousins will sign 4yr deal with Falcons. No word yet on $'s. Not a good look for Field(s) but now the dust is settled at QB.
