I'm going Williams. I'd rather pay the extra few million for a guy that I believe is an elite end. Just my 2 cents. Plus, I think it makes our defense that much better and should help us when it comes to going against the Lions/Packers pass attacks.

PFT has reported the real cap space numbers are out. It has us at 22.6, and that is after Forte has been franchised. Rookie pool-------------------------4 to 5 mil Our own FAs------------------------6 to 8 mil So how much does that leave us for our big signing everybody wants? I suspect we get one big contract to work and a few fringe players.

Apparently, Wimbley was the Bears top target in 2011 FA. However, he was resigned by the Raiders prior to the Bears getting a chance. This is pure McClure and the speculation is the Bears will be high on him again this year. They think he's the perfect compliment opposite Peppers. Probably will cost between 5-7M a year. I know we've talked about him a lot but I figure at this point, he deserves his own thread. I assume he will be release by the Raiders shortly!

I would give him a call better and cheaper than R.Williams http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill Randy Moss says he’s coming back Posted by Mike Florio on February 13, 2012, 10:06 AM EST Few believed it would stick. And it’s apparently not going to stick. The man who once said he plays when he wants to play has announced via a Ustream.tv live video that he wants to play. “I just wanna go to a team and play some football,” Moss said in an appearance commemorating his 35th birthday, which included at one point an acknowledge of our effort to push traffic to the event by mentioning it on the PFT Twitter page. “I sa…

Emery's first call should be to OT Eric Winston then to wide receiver Vincent Jackson. Then guard Carl Nicks. Then safety LaRon Landry. Those players fill more glaring needs and would represent a wiser allocation of funds than Williams, likely the most expensive free agent on the market. Then try to sign Kamerion Wimbley and find a good CB in FA and then draft Floyd a LB,CB

Was reading on PFT that with the QB in place, they will be going after Jackson big time. If Snyder wants someone, I think he will outbid us for VJ.The only thing we have going for us is being a better team.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7677375/...lions-cap-space If this is accurate and the Redskins are penalized with the removal of 36 million in cap space. I don't see how they can sign Jackson. Granted they can split this penalty into two seasons, but I don't see the benefit of backloading this penalty with so much lost with RGIII trade. This will give new found leverage to the bears in signing jackson. If he wants to win and make good money the bears are a logical fit. If he wants to be a rich loser then he should just sign in Tampa.

@vxmcclure23: Bears had offered a two-year contract to Bell with about half mil guaranteed. Could still negotiate that deal or be set with $1.26 million. @vxmcclure23: $1.26 million tender for Bell. @vxmcclure23: Bears tender restricted free-agent RB Kahlil Bell.

  16. http://network.yardbarker.com/nfl/article_...thorne/10285789 Earlier today we reported that the New York Jets might be interested in safety LaRon Landry who’ll hit the free agent market this week. Now according to Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears also appear to be interested in Landry as well. Both teams need an upgrade at the safety position, and might be able to get Landry at a good price, since he hasn’t played a full regular season since 2008. Cole also stated that the Redskins want Landry back, which is a bit of shock since I’ve been hearing they’re ready to move on from him.

http://network.yardbarker.com/nfl/article_...rested/10284538 Indianapolis' spring cleaning - er, make that wholesale renovation - has already removed a few high-profile names from the roster, and they're looking to move another in defensive end Dwight Freeney. And according to Len Pasquarelli, the Bears are very interested. A trade for the Colts' all-time leader in sacks might cost quite a bit in both trade pieces and finances, and the 32-year-old is hitting the decline of his career - Freeney would cost $19 million against Indianapolis' cap, and even if traded carries a $14 million base salary, an amount that would put a huge dent in the Bears' available cap…

V Jack Super Mario Nicks Colston If the Bears are going to go after 1 big time FA, which one do you think will pay off the most? Im torn on this one 2 reasons Nicks, makes Cutler and Forte lives easier in both the pass and run, there still is a chance to draft a WR or even sign a wr like Royal and Draft one too Mario- makes the entire defense better, CB and Safety both become less important of needs(still a need but not as imnportant), G-Men did it with the best Dline in the NFL. Also gets the D younger. I have watched very little on Vjack, is this guy a top 5 WR(i know he tore the Bears up)??? I feel that you never hear him men…

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...e-agency-primer Where they stand: The Chicago Bears lead the NFC North in available cap room, sitting on approximately $30 million. But it’s important to note that cap room shouldn’t be viewed as a blank check; especially when considering the Bears would likely be looking to extend several of their core players with contracts ending in the next couple of years. While upgrades on offense seem most logical of potential Bears moves during free agency, given the need to surround quarterback Jay Cutler with more weapons, it’s believed that coach Lovie Smith wants to revamp a defense led by four Pro Bowl players -- linebackers L…
