The news will come today on Cutler, if it is season long, are we now rebuilding for the future? Cutler would be a big loss, but I think our main problem is a porous defense with no bright light in the future. Our top two playmakers are hurt, hopefully not for long. Peppers is average at best. Safeties suck a big one. Bostic, Bass, Frey, are a few names to watch going forward, but not much in the well. The end result of bad drafts are showing now with not many backups looking like players. Stars are getting older. Low lights-Peppers, Wright,Conte, Tillman hurt all the time, lack of depth at DT. Highlights-entertaining games but, fear will be …

I'm not disecting the details of what's going on, but looking at it as a broad brush stroke. I don't think the Titans had a pass over 20 yards last Sunday. Could it be, we're employing the "bend don't break" philosophy and are actually bending and breaking? I just swear, we're giving up everything in front and nothing in back...and to me that screams "prevent". Which we all know prevents winning...

He wasn't tagged, obviously. I think Ward is more realistic. Either way, the safeties on the team don't belong on nfl rosters, Let alone starting.

  5. I was reading some of the Benson stuff and I started thinking...what did we really lose from last year? Rubin Brown: He played injured for 8 games, then went on IR. Fred Miller: He played in every game, but not very well. In fact, he caused as many problems as just about anybody on the team IMO. Moose: 40 receptions and 3 TD's. He had more drops than TD's. Berrien: 71 receptions and 5 TD's. not bad, bu not really good eaither. Again more Drops than TD's Griese: While his 10 TD's were OK, his 12 picks cost us at least two games Benson: 674 yards and 4TD's. not exactly a pro-bowl type year. While thst list looks like starters all over the pla…

We have Howard, Cohen, Davis and Patterson. If we trade Howard on draft day, we in turn will draft a RB. Even if we don't make a trade we are still going to draft a RB, so we go into camp with 4 or 5 plus Nall is still a practice squad nominee. Last year we ran the ball 468 times. As the offense progresses we end up with more overall plays so I will leave this number about the same. HOWARD or draft pick-- 200 Carrie's Cohen had 117 last year, so we give him 100 Davis-- 100 Patterson-- 40 Trubisky had 67 last year, but let's say 40 this year. Nagy likes to mix it up so I think it will not be a load type of back anymore. I think D…

  8. I just got off the phone with Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan from Moving The Chains. A few callers before a guy named Super Bowl Shuffle was talking to them about the criticisms Jerry Angelo receives. They said that Jerry told them there was a situation happening he couldnt do anything about because of a lack of cash. Ha wasn't given permission to spend the cash needed to make a move he said, quoting the hosts, "made him sick in the stomach." Saying that it was something they could really have use to help the team. Not sure if this is about Cutler, Cassel, Houshmanzadeh or possibley an OL. It sounds as though he is frsutrated by it and said that his comments about Craig St…

With the NFL meetings come access to coaches and GMs. Rich Campbell put together some things to know about our new offense. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-bears-matt-nagy-bears-offense-20180327-story.html Some of the standout items: We'll be running 13 personnel quite often with 3 TEs on the field. This should answer the question as to why we kept Sims. Of course we'd all like to pay him less for what will be a more limited role. As is typical in KC, we'll be seeing lots of screens. Cadence... we may fail on offense but it will be done quickly. Some of those plays will be deep and maybe even on 4th down as it appear…

Was perusing the early morning rags and saw a small blip about how "Arian Foster to Chicago makes the most sense." When I went to open it was a video article so I didn't get a chance to see who the hell made this prediction. But why on earth would the Bears ever consider this? Granted he was once a good player but in the last few years he's had nothing but health concerns. If we won't keep Forte this makes no sense at all. And as Jason would say this is pure "dumb". Absolutely, undeniably no thank you.

  14. I'm thinking, without looking up individual arm lengths, that Poles favors longer armed prospects and wanted to have a discussion or thoughts on how he's choosing his prospects. Last year, we had a OT and several DL come through his draft process and I wanted to predict which Line prospects are Poles dudes. This year, the only OC prospects, that I can tell you off the top of my head with longer that 33" arms is PSU's center. JCP has average length and the other top two C prospects have below average length. Who recalls the arm length on Poles line targets? IIRC, we brought Wright in for a visit correct. Did we draft anybody that we didn't visit?

Now I dunno if they will trade him, or decline matching offers and take the two first round picks or what, but we tagged him. And if we did get two more first round picks, and we could package two of them to get a rookie QB and use one on an OLT, it might be an improvement for the offense, regardless of how good Robinson is as a WR. https://www.chicagobears.com/news/bears-put-franchise-tag-on-robinson

  20. Started by adam,

The Franchise Tag's deadline is tomorrow. The new league year starts on March 17th (next Wednesday), so the Bears will have to get under the cap by that date. If they tag ARob, they would have to shed a ton of salary to get under the cap in a week. The only options I see are the following: 1. Franchise Tag and renegotiate a long-term deal to lessen the cap hit in 2021. 2. Tag and trade 3. Let him go to free agency, but still work a deal with him 4. Let him go, don't pursue
