http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2011/...mond-mcgee.html Source: Bears will sign punter Richmond McGee February 9, 2011 6:28 AM | No Comments By Brad Biggs Brad Maynard said all last season that he was hopeful to return to the Bears in 2011. While the team got modest contract extensions finalized for long snapper Pat Mannelly and defensive tackle Matt Toeaina before the season ended, Maynard is one of the 14 players on the roster set to become an unrestricted free agent. Now, perhaps the team has his replacement in place. Richmond McGee will sign a reserve/futures contract this week, according to an NFL source, bringing a familiar face back in…

He's a bit one dimentional. I wish we'd pick him up, but he's probably not versatile enough for Martz/Smith. Then again, neither was Manumaleuseless...

So George Whitfield, the QB coach, has said that he'd like to work with Cutler, going so far as to call him "arguably the most naturally gifted quarterback on the planet, maybe the most gifted since Elway." He thinks he could work with Cutler on mechanics and consistency and take his game to another level. For those of you who don't know Whitfield, he's Cam Newton's QB tutor right now, but don't judge him just by Newton. He also worked with Ben Roethlisberger during his suspension, and Roethlisberger came right back into the league playing some of his best football. Roethlisberger is a very similar player to Jay in a lot of ways - in the past he's tended to rely o…

The website is run by a former scout and has alot of good info on it. It picked the Bears first pick as Liuget/dt/Ill. The second one was Franklin/OT/Miami. Is rising on draft boards, possible could start sometime his rookie year after Tice gets ahold of him. The 3rd pick was Patrick/cb/Loiusville. Most drafts have him listed in the top 10 cb prospects, which probably would fit with a 3rd round pick.

All three attended USFs pro day who had McClain DT as the main attraction. When is the last time all three went somewhere together? Sounds like major interest. He's 6'1" 300 lbs, 4.8 in the 40. Had 4 TFL and 4 sacks. Athletic but not productive. Only had 24 tackles. Not worthy of a high pick IMO. Was ranked 13rh in PFW draft book. I would be ok with this pick in the 4th or maybe 3rd, but sounds like alot of work and project.

http://bearingthenews.com/?p=1400 Drafting for a Better Future Instead of an Ugly Present Benjamin Franklin once wrote, “All human situations have their inconveniences. We feel those of the present but neither see nor feel those of the future; and hence we often make troublesome changes without amendment, and frequently for the worse.” It is with that in mind that I note Dan Pompei‘s review of the outside linebackers in this year’s NFL draft for the Chicago Tribune (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-0419-nfl-draft-outside-linebac20110418,0,4899973.story). Here’s what he says about the Bears need there: “Only one outside lin…

Sure, he had an off the field incident, but the guy can produce and is probably a much better fit in Martz offense than Rice. I'm calling it now, Bears will sign Santonio Holmes!

With Dahl leaving Atlanta for St. Louis, this leaves this group left for FA OL: Sean Locklear, OT, Seattle Matt Light, OT, New England Jared Gaither, OT, Baltimore Ryan Harris, OT, Denver Brian Waters, OG, Kansas City Kyle DeVan, OG, Indianapolis Derrick Dockery, OG, Washington Dockery is interesting. He was very good in 2009 but he didn't fit in Shanahan's ZBS. Gaither was good up until his back injury, and we all know those don't go away completely. Harris isn't a fit, because he's a ZBS OT. Waters might work, depending on the window the FO thinks the Bears have. If he thinks it's a 1-2 year window, Waters would be a nice sign. …

Maybe he can fill an SLB role for us. Not bad, but never lived up to expectations.
