Martz says that Omiyale's moving to right tackle, that Olsen can contribute in his system (and says there's a problem with the system if Olsen doesn't fit,) and that Cutler's exceeded his expectations so far. My two cents: 1. Excellent move as far as Omiyale goes. The guy started to look not-totally-awful at guard toward the end of the season, but he's clearly a tackle and he's much more of a pass-protector than a run-blocker. Beekman's an upgrade from him at LG. If Tice can coach Omiyale up on the switch to the right side (I'm pretty sure he played on the left in Carolina) then he could be a decent option at RT. Especially with Manumaleuna lining up next to hi…

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...mully19.article Since Angelo and Smith got together in 2004 27 defensive players have been drafted. How many starters last year from those 27? A whopping 4, Tommie Harris, Zach Bowman, Al Alfalava, and Danieal Manning...That track record sucks. I don't care what industry you are in, a 15% hit rate is pathetic. Now cue the Angelo supporters saying how great his late round special team gems are...

So the Bears are the biggest players in free agency, for sure, but they aren't the only ones. The Lions are making some aggressive moves of their own: so far, they've inked Nate Burleson from the Seahawks and Kyle Vanden Bosch from the Titans, plus they traded to get Corey Williams from the Browns. None of those are blockbuster moves like the Peppers signing, but they're all pretty smart, I think. Burleson isn't a great #1 receiver, but as a #2 paired with Calvin Johnson, he's miles better than Bryant Johnson or anybody else on Detroit's roster. I think he could be a credible complementary receiver, which they haven't had in a while. As for KVB and Williams, I …

A few weeks back, the SCORES Boers & Bernstein show said that the Bears were having trouble getting a 5th round pick for Olsen. While I didn't believe this, I did believe his value wasn't what we thought it was. Today Denver received a 5th round pick for Tony Scheffler AND a 7th. I'd thought we might see a draft day deal in which the Bears moved up to the 2nd round. That ain't going to happen with trading away next year's picks.

Now that we're inside two weeks before the draft, and we've gotten some idea of the players the Bears have brought in for workouts or observed at pro days, I'm wondering what people are thinking about what the Bears will do. This is not necessarily what you want them to do, but what you think will actually happen or what their strategy might be. I'm going to go all seven rounds, based on what I've been seeing in newspaper reports and who I think might be available when the Bears draft: 3) Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, CB, Indiana (PA) - I don't think any of the good FSs like Nate Allen or Chad Jones will be available, though the Bears would almost certainly take one of those…

Hi Folks It's about that time of year to run our annual TalkBears Mock Draft, if we have people interested. Here's the general way we run it, but I'm more than happy to change based on suggestions. You get a team, you handle their draft as the GM. We can decide whether we want to allow trades or not. You get 24 hours on the clock, so sometimes picks come fast and then there's a small delay. If we start in a couple days, there's probably time to get 2 rounds in. Sadly, no one gets to be the Bears this year, since they're pickless, but that makes things easier on me. Carolina also doesn't pick til the 2nd round, so we can wait on filling that one if you're interes…

Rotoworld is reporting that the Steelers just shipped Santonio Holmes to the Jets for a 2010 fifth-rounder. It's the #151 pick overall. Holmes is a big character risk, and I'm not one of these people saying that the Bears desperately need to upgrade at receiver, but Angelo absolutely should have sent a 5th for him. Santonio and Hester would have been a nasty pair of deep-threats for Martz's deep passing game.

Passing on a rumor from a friend of a friend who has contacts in the Rams from office. The Bears apparently called them offering Greg Olsen and the Bears third rounder for the Rams second rounder and a mid to late 2011 pick. The Rams turned it down, but agreed to talk more on draft day. Apparently the Rams would like a TE, and want to see what is avaiable when they pick at the open of the second round. If the guy they like is gone, they may talk more with the Bears.

Looks like Harrison is taking this offseason more seriously than last. Judging by the picture here he's in better shape than anytime I saw him last season. It's still early in the offseason and there's still a lot of weight lifting to be done and a lot of biscuits to pass up. http://www.chicagobears.com/photos/index.asp?SECTION_ID=340

According to ESPN Insider the Dolphins are shopping him. While he hasn't shown that he is a #1, I dunno. I think he could thrive in Martz system.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor...&id=5062971 OK guys, I’m bored. Above is a link to an Albert Haynesworth “on the block” article. Here’s a guy that’s a beast when healthy. I salivate at the thought of having a guy like him line up next to Tommie Harris. Our line could look like a train wreck coming at opposing QB’s. …And he could actually be affordable, as the Redskins already paid him a 21 million roster bonus this year. Thoughts??

http://www.profootballfocus.com/articles.p...arc=&id=151 No. 25 -- Chicago Bears The Bears were one of the teams that had only a couple of guys play well, whilst the others struggled and left their offense dead in the water. The "couple of guys" in this case were center Olin Kreutz and right guard Roberto Garza, with the rest being various shades of poor. None was worse than Orlando Pace and it was a huge mistake believing he had much left in the tank (he didn't). By the time he was benched in Week 13, the Bears were already gasping for air. Amazingly, as poor as a right tackle as Chris Williams was, he may end up being a success story if he can keep up his late-…
