Im not gonna get into too much here, but the more i read the more i l ike. Hes an offensive guru and we have the tools to be great. A recieving RB, athletic TE and a gunsliingin' QB. Plus my take is next season he can become the head coach and Rivera can come back....

Robbie Gould has been "money" for the Bears most of his career. Now Gould is kicking in some money to assist a local youth football team make a trip for a game in Miami. The American Youth Football Organization national champion Naperville Patriots, a group of 12-, 13- and 14-year-olds, are scheduled to play a team from Texas led by Deion Sanders on the Saturday before the Super Bowl. When anticipated funding from the NFL for hotel rooms in Miami fell through at the last minute, Gould immediately kicked in $20,000 to help defray the unexpected costs for the 27 players and their families. "Robbie said, 'Not a problem, I will take care of it.' I couldn't thank him…

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=6499 Bears run game struggled, but Forte finished with a flourish By: Larry Mayer | Last Updated: 1/20/2010 4:57 PM The following is the second of nine position reviews of the 2009 season. LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Bears ranked a disappointing 29th in the NFL in rushing in 2009. But their running backs did provide some bright spots to build on heading into next season. Matt Forte rushed for 929 yards and averaged 3.6 yards per carry, a decline in both categories after he gained 1,238 yards and averaged 3.9 yards per attempt during a breakout rookie season in 2008. After just two seasons,…

Tribune is reporting that he will be interviewing with Michigan State for the same position on there staff. He joined the Bears when Lovie was hired so he's been here a while. He previously spent 10 years at OSU as a coach (and also played there). I figure he has a good relationship with the Bears but I wonder if he feels the heat on the offensive side and would rather leave now when he knows he has an opening as opposed to take a chance for a year without one. I think if I were him I'd think about it, especially since the lower level assistants don't get paid enough to go without work.

  11. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...ments_Container Everyone on this site should check out this piece. Really good stuff from Gannon. Dang it, I really want Rich as our QB coach after seeing his quotes and comments. Just makes a ton of sense.

Jay Glazer is reporting that one of the Bears OC candidates, Chan Gailey (former Cowboys and Georgia Tech head coach) will be taking the Buffalo Bills head coaching job. Personally I'm surprised. I thought Frazier was lined up for the job but I guess the Bills didn't want to wait until the Vikings were out of the playoffs to hire there guy. Sucks for Frazier. Frazier is technically a candidate for the Bears DC job but there is no reason that will ever happen.

McDaniels is an ass-clown for letting him leave but oh well. Bears will not go after him since it involves a change in scheme but he'd be a phenomenal hire and he is a tremendous defensive coordinator.

"The negotiations for a new labor agreement couldn't be going any worse. If the past few days, I've spoken to sources on both sides of the labor talks, and I've come to the conclusion that it'll be an upset if there isn't a work stoppage that either delays or cancels the 2011 season. Many of us in the media have speculated about the chances for a lockout and predicted one is coming, but the total lack of progress over the nut issue in 11 bargaining sessions tells me unless there's a sea-change by one side or the other, you'd better savor the 2010 season because it could be the last football we see for a while. At the core of the problem is ownership's demand for…

The rumblings around Chicago are that the Bears will look to sign a big-time back-up running back to team up with Matt Forte and LT (Cap Casualty)/Chester Taylor (UFA) are expected to be guys the Bears consider. Evidently McGahee might be joining that group and I think he could be a real nice fit if he does get cut. LT and Chester Taylor are also real nice fits. And no matter what, it seems like we have a few real good options to help improve our rushing attack (from the RB perspective).

The other thread suggested an independent thread for discussion of what the Bears should do about their Defensive Line, given that they're now even more undermanned there and have no picks in the first 2 rounds.

All this FA talk has gotten me thinking. Given Cutler likes Shannahan and he is now in Washington: would you be willing to trade Cutler to Washington for a 1st and/or 2nd and Jason Campbell? Campbell isn't all that a horrible QB and the Bears can get back two of the draft picks they probably will need come next year. I, for one, would not want Cutler to go anywhere but just thought I would throw that out there. Food for thought.
