Bears wideouts produced biggest day since '04 Posted: 9/17/2009 2:57 p.m. Jay Cutler has been widely criticized following the first four-interception game of his NFL career Sunday night in Green Bay. But the Bears quarterback helped his young wide receivers post big numbers in the loss to the Packers. Earl Bennett (7 receptions for 66 yards), Devin Hester (4-90) and Johnny Knox (2-82) combined for 238 yards, the most by Bears wide receivers in a game since Nov. 24, 2002 when Marty Booker (10-157), Dez White (8-106), Ahmad Merritt (3-24) and Marcus Robinson (1-3) generated 290 yards in a 20-17 overtime win over the Lions.

After finally being able to sleep thru the night this week, I have come to a conclusion that we are in for a total ass raping this week. It more than likely wont be on the scoreboard because the Steelers just dont put up points like that, but if we looked that bad against a team running a defense for the 1st time, Pitt should make it worse. Most of you know that I deliver the Chicago Tribune and while I was delivering it I saw a little headline that said Bowman to get the nod, but I didn't have time to read it so I came home and found the article. Many of us were hoping it would happen and I think this is the coaching staff saying that they aren't afraid to make changes like we thought in the past. A new Bear fan was born yeaterday to my son and daughter-in-law lemonej III 7lbs 1oz and 19 inches. I will bombard my grandson with Bears' gear since my daughter -in-law is a first cousin of Antwon Randle El.

The past TC showed us that Cutler had a preference for Brandon Rideau and Devin Aromashodu and during the first game Rideau was on his couch and DA was inactive I guess with Davis getting some playing time. Why would they decide to play Davis over DA?

There has been a ton of critical talk from this past game, understandably, but there were a couple players who I think could warrant some positive comments. Daniel Manning - I have ripped him up and down for some time, but he has really showed development. We saw his contributions last year as a returner and nickel. In camp, we hear he will be our starting FS, and there was a collective moan. Now I wonder though. There was a particular play that really stood out to me. I don't want to make too much from one play, but at the same time, it was the sort that gives me hope. I believe DM was playing FS, but he may have been the nickel. As much as we mix it up, its …

In today's Tribune, an article by Fred Mitchell (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-16-walter-payton-statue-sep16,0,3208115.story) advises that the Park District is opposed to a statue being erected outside Soldier Field. I personally find this appalling as the excuses that the Park District give is that the statue for "Sweetness" is not for a war veteran and does not take into consideration other Bear Hall of Fame members or legends. I am hoping that many Bear Fans will write to the Park District to voice displeasure with the Park District's lack of respect to the greatest running back of all time and the founding franchise of the NFL. All bad news must come to an end and it finally did as of about 5 minutes ago. My wife and I just found out today that she is pregnant with our 2nd child. The doctors believe its fairly early within the past couple of weeks(still celebrating the fact that we got Cutler I believe) We will be going in in a couple of weeks to have an ultrasound done.

Starting strong-side linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa went down in the first quarter Sunday with a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is day-to-day, according to an NFL source. IMHO and i have said this ever since we have gotten Ron Turner that we lose because of the plays he call or doesn't call. Prime example we are in the RED ZONE three times and you never used OLSEN ..not one time on a mismatch. Better yet why not the 6'7 DAVIS. The run up the middle never got much so why not use the play action pass to Forte/McKie in the flat. Maybe the bootleg to Olsen instead of Clark.. During the game when the Packer were coming after Cutler...where was the dump off to Forte?And for those of you who say its Cutler and the defense that lost this game.....think about this. Pittsburgh too is without their defensive leader, and he may be more important to them than Urlacher is to us, and that is saying a lot. They had absolutely no running game (36 rushing yards) vs TEN and their O-Line looked almost as bad as ours. Big Ben was sacked 4 times and threw 2 picks. He also had a couple of "near" picks but got lucky. I think this will be another close game, and definitely winnable. The early line has the Steelers favored by 3. One concern is that they have had a couple extra days to rest, recover, and prepare.
