http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/no-tea...beat-the-draft/ It basically says that nobody is beating the draft. Most are average at best. Only a few teams do well consistently, and even then their main guys get fired after one or two misses. It also analyzes the GMs (I'd love to see where Angelo falls into that analysis). I particularly liked the portion about "The Loser’s Curse", which essentially "argues that NFL decision-makers shouldn’t be so quick to attribute the apparent efficiency of the draft market to an abundance of picking skill. To do so is hubris." I've been saying this for quite some time. These owners/GMs aren't as good at picking players a…

Dude had to get fired to REALIZE OL is important. Jamies Winston followed by OT and OG. And that's on top of the OT AND OG he drafted last year. Seriously, that guy can kiss my ass square on the butthole.

With the recent OTAs a few things we learned. Ferguson is lighter which puts him in play for LDT position. I think with McDonald's circus life, Ego,and Ratliff moving to RDT that those will be our starting DTs. Forte's here and Marty is not. Funny thing is both Bennett brothers are holding out for their respective teams.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/...-to-linebacker/ Jared Allen “having fun” with move to linebacker Posted by Josh Alper on June 3, 2015, 4:24 PM EDT Jared Allen AP When Jared Allen was with the Vikings, he balked at the idea of moving from defensive end to outside linebacker. On Wednesday, Allen chalked that up to “ignorance” while discussing the very same transition that he’s making with the Bears this offseason. Allen said that he thinks he’ll be doing the same kinds of things at his new spot, but that playing linebacker will be “easier on my body.” “My body feels fresher because I’m not banging every single day and putting my hands …

So maybe it's slow and I'm looking for something, anything Bears related. Saw this speculative report (below) about the Bears looking at FA Evan Mathis (I'm for the 'no thanks' category). But what caught my attention was that the Bears are $8.1 million BELOW the cap at this point. That is with something like 90 players currently on the roster right? Seems pretty incredible. Of course I k is there are a few that need contract upgrades but still, seems pretty impressive. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0623-story.html

http://www.scout.com/nfl/bears/story/15574...-olb-david-bass This scheme might fit Bass' skills better than the last one so we'll watch for this in training camp. Reportedly Acho has looked good as well but some of that could just be his familiarity with the 3-4 which gives him the advantage up front. I'm not too keen on Willie Young's fit in this scheme, especially coming off that achilles injury. If Fangio wants OLB who can get to the passer that's not Houston's forte but I can't see us cutting Houston this year. I think Jared Allen can flourish in this new scheme as a backup player focused on the 3rd and long, or obvious passing situations. Last year …

For whatever reason I can't get my phone to post a link, but there are reports floating around that the Bears are interested in adding Jermaine Gresham. If his backs fine this would be a fantastic move. Gase used a lot of 2 TE sets in Denver even with the 3 headed monster he's had at the WR position. Plus there's not much depth behind Marty anyway.

In all his years in Chicago Cutler has had to practice against the Lovie 2 and then for two years again Mel Tucker's toothless version of the Lovie 2. Given his history I won't make a prediction about how much better Cutler will be at protecting the football but I will say that practicing against Fangio's D this camp is giving him the most variety in defensive looks/schemes that he's ever seen in camp. I can't see this hurting Cutler at all, nor the rest of the offense. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-1...57-21e1bad607a0 "They got after us today," said quarterback Jay Cutler. "They beat us in about every period we had. [Fangio] has done a good job of m…

  16. Redskins Special-Teams Standout Rejects Contract Offer Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 30, 2009, 12:11 p.m. Washington Redskins reserve linebacker and special-teams ace Khary Campbell has declined the team’s contract offer of a veteran minimum salary and is holding talks with other NFL teams, according to David Elfin of the Washington Times. Per the report, Campbell, who led the Redskins in special-teams tackles over the past three seasons, has made up his mind that he’s not going to accept the offer and will be moving on. “That wasn’t something I was going to accept,” Campbell told the Times. “And they drafted two linebackers. They did what they had to do,…

Not too surprised. http://www.betvega.com/super-bowl-odds.html Very little respect here, again, not too surprised. I would like to think we are going to kick some major ass this year with a revitalized defense and an Offense that will be for the first time in many years very capable of winning games and taking advantage of the field position our D and STs provide.

Bears | In holding pattern on adding veteran WR Comment (0) Sun, 10 May 2009 16:37:38 -0700 Vaughn McClure, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said the team could look to add a veteran wide receiver, but added they would be comfortable heading into the season with their current group of receivers. Angelo said, "A veteran receiver is something we could do. We've looked at just about everybody. But right now we're in a holding pattern. If we go to camp and go into the season with the hand we dealt ourselves, we're very comfortable with that as well." ----------------------------------------------------------------…

Bears | Ogunleye, Idonije unlikely to land new deals this season Comment (0) Mon, 18 May 2009 05:40:49 -0700 Vaughn McClure, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo sounded somewhat apprehensive when asked about the possibility of rewarding DL Adewale Ogunleye and DL Israel Idonije with new contracts this season. Both players are in contract years. "We did quite a bit last year if memory serves me right," Angelo said. "I think we were unprecedented in terms of all the people we did extensions with so, in part, that made fewer players come up. But those that do well, we'll definitely do what we've always done in the past. I'v…
