Refrigerator’ Perry hospitalized in S. Carolina CHICAGO (AP)—Former Chicago Bears defensive lineman William “The Refrigerator” Perry is in serious condition at a South Carolina hospital, a spokeswoman said Tuesday. Perry, 46, was hospitalized to deal with complications from Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a chronic inflammation disorder of the peripheral nerves, the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune reported. Aiken Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Melissa Summer declined to give additional details Tuesday. Perry’s nephew, Purnell Perry, told the Sun-Times his uncle was admitted more than a week ago but was expected to recover. “They were making su…

Per PFT: "Sources: Bills Shopping Simpson Sources close to the National Football Post have informed us that the Buffalo Bills are looking to trade free safety Ko Simpson before this weekend’s draft in New York. The former fourth round draft choice has complied 143 tackles and 2 interceptions in three NFL seasons. The Bills have been active in the past week. On Friday, Buffalo traded away Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters to Philadelphia in return for multiple draft picks and are reportedly shopping wide receiver Roscoe Parrish and defensive end Chris Kelsay as well." Simpson's a young guy (still only 25) with plenty of potential, who could be had…

In reading today's articles about JA's interview it seems he's changing his strategy a bit from what he's done in years past. Recently we've taken players who fell a bit due to injury. Of course everyone knows what happened with Williams last year. In the past we've taken Bazuin who I believe had a bit of an injury pre-draft that was aggravated in camp. Of course we took Harrison in Rd 3 and Bowman in Rd 5 who both fell due to injury concerns. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/04/an...ss_2009_nf.html "Angelo on drafting players with medical c…

I didn't see this posted anywhere yet: Angelo answered some questions about the upcoming draft, particularly with regards to getting a receiver. Highlights: Could the Bears trade up? JA: "I don't feel like we have enough ammunition to do that." Angelo didn't rule it out as a possibility but he acknowledged it would be tough to pull off if not impossible. Angelo says if the Bears draft a wideout in the first four rounds he believes it will be a player who will be able to step in and contribute as a rookie. When he was asked what the difference could be between a receiver at No. 49 or No. 99. JA: "If the receiver we like isn't there [at No. 49…

The last time we had a pro-bowl type QB and won the Super Bowl was back in 1985. The number he wore was #9. Now we have a probowl QB and flip that number and what do you get.....#6.

RD2-49 Louis Delmas FS - With the 1st and 2nd level WR's off the board, the Bears select the top rated FS. RD3-99 Mohammed Massaquoi WR - Bears had him targeted in RD2- Massaquoi is a quick big target the Bears are looking for. RD4-119 Zack Follett SLB - Bears need an upgrade over Roach/Hunter, Zack is a hard hitter, superb instincts, pass rushing mutha that JA is drooling over. RD5-140 Matt Shaughnessy DE - Hard worker that needs some fine tuning and body refinement. Attn:RodM/RustyJ RD5-154 Jason Watkins OT - Developmental player to groom behind Pace, Shaffer, and Williams. Another RT/LT prospect. RD6-190 Brandon Tate WR - Bears take a shot on a playm…

That's easily the busiest time of year for this site. I do wonder if there will be the same excitement since the Bear's don't have a #1 pick. The draft starts at 2:00, which means we should make our first pick by 7:00 or something like that? As usual, I'm taking an "Al Bundy Vacation," which means I'll be roping off the area around the TV, and the wife & kid have to pretend I'm not there. I'm looking forward to the chat room.

From Rotoworld: Jaguars signed WR Torry Holt to a three-year, $20 million contract, according to NFL Network's Steve Wyche. He chose the Jags over the Titans. The Bears, Giants, and Eagles never showed interest. Holt, 33, is coming off his worst season and will be playing on grass for the first time in his career in a run-heavy offense. He's a poor bet to match his 2008 numbers (64-796-3), although Holt is an upgrade over the Jags' current receivers. He's likely projected to start opposite Mike Walker, with Dennis Northcutt in the slot. The draft, of course, could change that. I can't believe the Bears were not interested. Who do we sign now? I bet we could …

Demitrius Byrd from LSU. Man, it seems like something like this happens every couple years I remember when Dennis Weathersby from Oregon Stae was shot like 3 days before the draft. Hope to see him recover. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=4083554

Kenny Britt is flaky. Darrius Heyward-Bey's hands and route-running are suspect. Hakeem Nicks was overweight and not in great shape when the Ravens worked him out Friday. In other words, the receivers are a suspect group, and a few of them we thought would be picked in the first round are going in the second. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...20/draft/1.html Let 'em fall. The Bears will scoop 'em up...

Only about 10% of our posters glasses with be overflowing, maybe 30% will view the draft with a half full glass, about 40% of the posters will view the draft with a half empty glass, and the remaining 20% of the posters glasses will be empty as they will throw them through their TV screen, breaking not only their TV but the glass as they curse Angelo and demand his resignation. Angelo will trade down at least twice. Angelo will draft only 1 or 2 players many of us ever heard of or considered in all our drafts. Anyone else want to add their predictions? LOL

This weekend, I played GM for the Bears in an online 7 round mock draft. Here's what we ended up with: 2) Rashad Johnson, S, Alabama - With Robiskie gone, this was a pretty easy decision, as I didn't want to reach for Iglesias or Massaquoi. 3) Brandon Tate, WR, North Carolina - A bit of an injury risk, but the best potential of any WR left, although I considered Jarret Dillard as well. 4) Henry Melton, DE, Texas - A guy the Bears appear to like a lot with the speed they are looking for off the end. 5a) Gerald McRath, LB, Southern Miss - Not on my radar really, but the highest rated player on the board for me with the versatility and speed at LB the Be…

http://espn.go.com/chicago/columns/blog?name=dickerson Leading up to the draft, Jeff revisits Jerry Angelo's hits and misses as Bears GM. April 18, 2009, 10:25 PM By: Jeff Dickerson US Presswire We are officially a week away from the NFL draft. Now that you're up to speed on many of the prospects, let's focus on Jerry Angelo's draft history with the Bears. We assume safety will be addressed next weekend. Don't be surprised if the Bears double dip at that spot, selecting one early, and one late. Angelo's track-record at the position says it all: 2002: Round 5 -- Bobby Gray, La. Tech 2003: Round 4 -- Todd Johnson, Florida 2005:…
