1. Eben Britton, OT, Arizona ---IMO, he fits our scheme perfectly. St Clair still hasn't re-signed and is bad in the run game. 2. Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers ---A possession WR who is a perfect compliment to Hester. 3. Sammie Lee Hill, DT, Stillman ---A massive NT who knows how to get to the QB. 3. Phillip Hunt, DE, Houston ---Has a nose for the QB. 4. Troy Nolan, FS, Arizona State ---Big safety who has a nose for the ball and knows what to do when he gets the ball (3 TD's this past year). 5. Louis Vazquez, OG, Texas Tech ---He could go earlier, but Vazquez had a great combine with, I believe, the most reps of anyone. 6. Austin Collie, WR, BYU ---Re…

Looking at the end of the first round, there are several teams that might go WR...and that could cause a run on WRs that screws the Bears out of at least an option to take a second-tier WR with their second pick. TB - They really need a WR badly. Detroit - All jokes aside, they STILL need another WR. Someone to compliment Calvin Philly- How many years will they need weapons for McNabb? Minny-Berrian is their #1, but Rice and Wade aren't that impressive. NE - Nope. They're good. Atlanta - Need a compliment to Roddy White, and Jenkins isn't that great Miami - Ginn is still not great...need more weapons Baltimore - Always a need Indianapolis - Marvin's…

I like to think we're not going to wait until after the draft to just sign players off the scrap-heap. Here's some guys who are still available I hope like hell we're thinking about trying to sign: Byron Leftwich: What the heck happened to him anyway? He was supposed to be the best free agent quarterback available, and I haven't even heard a rumor about him other then he might resign with Pittsburgh. He's proven he's a good back-up and he'd definitely keep Orton on his toes. Khalif Barnes: At 26 years old, he could be our starting RT for the next 6 years. I'd like to sign him AND St. Clair. Jared Page: At 6-0, 220 lbs, he's considered a big free s…

I know we like St. Clair, but we do like OT's with bad backs. This was from PFT: BARNES WON’T BE A RAIDER, AFTER ALL Posted by Mike Florio on March 7, 2009, 9:50 a.m. So much for those reports that free-agent tackle Khalif Barnes was set to sign with the Oakland Raiders. According to the San Francisco Chronicle and other publications, the deal has fallen apart. Per David White of the Chronicle, all talks between Barnes’ agent, Kenny Zuckerman, and the Raiders are now off. Barnes is now close to signing with an undisclosed team. As White points out, the collapse of the deal could push the Raiders back to free-agent tackle Marvel Smith of the Stee…

I participated in a 4 round mock draft with our old affiliation (www.nflfans.com) this morning. Pretty much every team had a representative, no trades, and we went straight through in about 2 1/2 hours. Things did not go at all as I had expected them to, so I thought I would share my picks, my thoughts, and the full results: 1) Mark Sanchez, QB, USC - I was truly unprepared for Sanchez to be here and had been preparing to take a WR. But Maclin went right before my pick and all the next WRs batch (DHB, Britt, Nicks, Robiskie, Harvin) were still on the board. Knowing that our back-up QB is currenly Hanie, not being sold on Orton, and hoping that I could at least get Ro…

Chicago Bears must pursue Terrell Owens now! Forget all the lame excuses, wide receiver a no-brainer Rick Morrissey | In the wake of the news 4:16 PM CST, March 5, 2009 The sports talk shows in town were hyperventilating Thursday over what appeared to be one of the great debates of our time: Should the Bears pursue Terrell Owens? This is some sort of trick question, right? If the Bears had two or three halfway decent receivers, this might be a discussion. If the Bears had an offense that was the envy of the NFL we might be talking about whether it's prudent to bring in a problem child like T.O. If Kyle Orton's steady hand at the tiller was such that he…

I touched on this in another thread, but wanted to throw it out there. I think most here (though not all) would like to see us consider OL in the 1st round of the draft, particularly if one of the key OT prospects fall to us. But this is what is bothering me. If our two key FA signings before the draft are both OL (Omiyale & St. Clair) how likely is Angelo to then take an OT in the 1st round of the draft? IMHO, signing Omiyale and St. Clair does nothing to take away from our needs on the OL. Both are solid depth, and players I would not mind in a competition for a starting job, but neither are players I want to enter camp as the set starters. Yet if we…

Let's say we do not get another WR in FA or via the draft. I show the following on the roster: - Hester - Davis - Bennett - Aromashodu (waived by Indy - did not play for us) - Rideau - Burgess (practice squad) I would assume then the top 5 would make the team with Hester, Davis, and Bennett as the top 3. If this is the case then why not play Olsen more at WR (he played around 15% of his plays there this last yr with Kellen Davis and Clark at TE). We had some success with Olsen at WR last yr and I would love to see Kellen Davis get some time on the field - he looked very good in the preseason. Formation could be 2 WR (Hester and Olsen), 2 TE …

While not the top tire list of needs, I think he'd be a good addition and an improvement over McKie. Not sure it even matters as he played most games and it seems JA's only looking for guys with only 1 start in FA... Sorry, couldn't resist the dig!

...and another one's gone. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines...L&hl=140875 Bucs re-signed SS Jermaine Phillips. Terms have not yet been disclosed. Phillips received little free agent interest, with only the Chargers and Seahawks sniffing around. Instead he'll return to the starting lineup at strong safety in Tampa, with Sabby Piscitelli staying in a reserve role. Mar. 5 - 6:14 pm et Source: Tampa Tribune

Specifically, I'm having the pipe dream of Marvin Harrison and Torry Holt. What if the Bears signed them both? That makes the WRs: Harrison, Holt, Hester, Bennett, and whoever else That thought makes Jason happy.

Looks like there's some merit to the earlier post... http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...-bear05.article Team thrift foils Angelo, Kirwan says BEARS | NFL Radio analyst claims free-agent pursuit curtailed by spending limits Recommend (7) Comments March 5, 2009 BY BRAD BIGGS bbiggs@suntimes.com Free agency is a week old today, and so far the Bears have only versatile offensive lineman Frank Omiyale -- with one career start -- to show for it. They're not the only team that has done more window shopping than buying, a product of a diluted free-agent pool and a weakened economy that has some organizations tightening their bel…

Sorry if this has already been posted, but Draft Party (http://www.youtube.com/user/DraftParty) has put together videos of the top WR prospects in the draft, which is helpful for those of us who haven't seen much of them in college: Michael Crabtree http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ySmg1f8ZSM Jeremy Maclin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA619-10IIM Darrius Heyward-Bey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyjaBWuo4zA Percy Harvin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34--XTjboDI Kenny Britt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a98USWn8dG0 Hakeem Nicks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWakmo3_m2s Brian Robiskie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urUgs…

Fairly simple question. Assume the contracts are favorable, assume Lovie, Orton, Turner meet with him and decide things are ok, assume whatever other details you want that would make the situation positive. In that case, would you want T.O. on the Bears?
