So I saw a thread on Twitter on how SB winning teams have never had a QB that took more than 15% of the cap in any year to date. Which is odd considering most of the SBs were won by Brady, Roethlisberger, Mahomes, and Flacco over the last 20 years. So I looked back to year 2000 to see what were the top 10 teams in terms of winning pct, how many HC's they had, how many different leading QBs they had, playoff appearances, SB appearances, and SB wins. The Bears were 21st over this span with a 181-206 record, which is sad. So what stands out below is the top of the top teams have had the same HC or only 1-2 over the last 20+ years. Secondly, over that same ti…

The Bears lost Tuesday's practice because they apparently exceeded the amount of contact activity earlier in the offseason. Two views on this right now. One is the team is setting the new tone and culture at all costs and losing one non-contact practice is worth the price to have contact earlier in the offseason. On the flip side, this is the second public mishap by the new regime, first the Larry O contract (which potentially prevented the signing of another top FA) and now this.

It is interesting to me that I got a Bears email from their Pro Shop and Trubisky is on the image. Why would they put a potential back-up QB as their main marketing image? That leads me to believe he will be the Week 1 starter regardless, and the team is committed to giving him at least a few games to prove himself, and then if he falters, Foles comes in. This is not a competition.

Last Monday, the team had a zoom meeting in regards to the social injustice and police brutality ongoing issues in the country. Apparently, from reports and quotes from the players, they went into thinking it was not going to be productive, but it turns out that it really hit home for a lot of players. The team's bond strengthened and you could tell that some players genuinely felt like there was progress made. In general, that's great, and for a team that has to rely on each other on every play, that is also a great thing. Nagy has been trying to change the culture and I think that meeting may be one of those turning points, where the team was half in and half out on all…

Bears | Tillman's status for Week 1 uncertain Comment (0) Thu, 10 Sep 2009 07:18:55 -0700 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports it is not known if Chicago Bears CB Charles Tillman (back) will be allowed to play in the team's Week 1 game. Didn't know where to put this. I heard Jarrett, Dexter, Sweat, and Booker are working out together in Florida with a pass rush specialist.( Didn't see his name mentioned.) Clearly Jarrett had to have a lead role in putting this together. I thought this shows a leadership position getting players together. I also heard Olin Kreutz saying he was working with Kiran A at his gym. These are the type of commitments that is going make this team jell.

Record - 9-8 (I have been flipping flopping on this from 7 to 11 wins, but will stick with something in the middle. A few facts to consider, the Bears were 1-7 in one score games last year and lost a few in brutal fashion. If those games even out, the Bears are 6-10. Considering they have an easier schedule this year, that ups it to 7 wins. Then consider offensive improvement (Moore, Wright, etc) for 1 game, and defensive improvement (6 new starters) for 1 game, and you can get to 9 easily. Without any other factors considered, they are 9-8. MVP - Fields (Even if he improves as a passer due to Moore +, his legs are what make him special. That dual threat is hard for …

Caleb Williams is now 70th on the Bears all-time passing list. He just passed the likes of Jason Campbell, Henry Burris, and Moses Moreno. Up next is passing Sweetness, Red Grange, and Doug Flutie. D'Andre Swift is 220th in rushing yards, and at his current yards per game, would only need 41 seasons of 17 games to surpass Walter Payton's 16,726 rushing yards. Swift would break the record when he is 67 and on his 16th contract extension with the Bears and Caleb Williams' grandson at QB. DJ Moore is now 52nd in receiving yards and is closing in on Anthony Miller and David Terrell on the all-time list. Cole Kmet is 17th in the franchise in receptions. He jus…

Here are the worst records against the top half of the league. It makes sense that most of the bottom feeders are on the list, but I was surprised to see DEN on there. They are 8-0 against bad teams and 0-5 vs good teams. If they make the playoffs, they are the first team eliminated (AFC side). ATL would be the same for the NFC. There is only one team on this list with a losing record AND a positive points differential, the Chicago Bears. You cannot make up how bad this team has been under Flus. JAX 0-8 CIN 0-7 CHI 0-6 MIA 0-5 DEN 0-5 (8-5) NE 0-5 NO 0-4 CAR 0-4 LVR 1-7 NYJ 1-7 SF 1-6 NYG 1-5 ATL 1-5 (6-6) Besides one-score game lo…

Looks like there's some merit to the earlier post... http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...-bear05.article Team thrift foils Angelo, Kirwan says BEARS | NFL Radio analyst claims free-agent pursuit curtailed by spending limits Recommend (7) Comments March 5, 2009 BY BRAD BIGGS bbiggs@suntimes.com Free agency is a week old today, and so far the Bears have only versatile offensive lineman Frank Omiyale -- with one career start -- to show for it. They're not the only team that has done more window shopping than buying, a product of a diluted free-agent pool and a weakened economy that has some organizations tightening their bel…

I was thinking today at how the wins this season have been sort of "hollow", either we've played bad teams or teams at the right time (Indy Week 1), etc. So I took a look back until 2006 to see how many winning teams we beat during the season, and I found an interesting trend, we beat either 2 or 3 teams every season, no more, no less, regardless of our record. Check this out: 2006 - 2 wins, SEA and NYJ as we go 13-3. Can you believe we won 11 games against teams at 8-8 or worse? 2007 - 2 wins, both vs a 13-3 Green Bay team (we accounted for 2 of their 3 losses as we floundered to a 7-9 record) 2008 - 3 wins, vs IND Week 1, PHI, and MIN. We went 9-7 and missed…

As per PFT. That means teams can stay far under the cap. Now I'm starting to get worried, especially when you consider: 1. We appear to be done adding offensive playmakers, essentially swapping Greg Olsen and Rashied Davis for Roy Williams & Sam Hurd. Not an upgrade. 2. Considering our d-line was mediocre, after letting Tommie go, I thought we'd add a quality guy to help Peppers. Instead we get Gholston. I have as many NFL sacks as he does. Seeing how we did nothing to improve Gaines Adams, I have no faith in Marinelli. Maybe Gholston will die and then we'll bring in a pro bowl DE. 3. Secondary--We let D Manning go, and we plan to replace him with Majo…

I was looking something else up, and this came to mind. When was the last season the Bears had 10 or more losses, and how that compared to other teams? It has been 10 years since our last really bad losing season. Only the Patriots, Steelers, and Chargers have had a longer run. 1. Patriots - 2000 (3-2) - Brady 2. Steelers - 2003 (3-2) - Big Ben 2t. Chargers - 2003 (4-1) - Rivers/Brees 4. Bears - 2004 (2-3) - Cutler/Orton/Grossman/Griese 4t. Giants - 2004 (3-2) - Manning 6. Saints - 2005 (2-3) - Brees 7. Ravens - 2007 (3-2) - Flacco 8. Packers - 2008 (3-2) - Rodgers Besides the Chargers who essentially replaced a great QB with another, we are …

Here are the teams with extra picks in the top 3 rounds: HOU: #2, #12, #33, #65, #73 SEA: #5, #20, #37, #51, #83 DET: #6, #18, #48, #55, #81 CAR: #9, #39, #61, #93 PHI: #10, #30, #62, #94 PIT: #17, #32, #49, #80 NYG: #25, #57, #89, #100 Even after blowing the 1st pick, HOU is still in decent shape, 5 picks in the top 73. SEA and DET both have 4 picks in the top 60. When I was thinking about trading partners, I was looking into which teams had more flexibility to move up. Compared to someone like IND, who the Bears are linked to, would basically not pick again until the 4th round if they move up to #1.

From Omaha Beef... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/...the-omaha-beef/ Tebow has an offer from the Omaha Beef Posted by Darin Gantt on April 30, 2013, 3:22 PM EDT Reuters Tim Tebow’s always been more of a loaves and fishes guy, but he has a chance to move some Beef if he wants to. In your regularly scheduled indoor-team publicity drive, the Omaha Beef have offered Tebow a chance to come play for $75 a game. Beef assistant general manager Andrew Mather told the Associated Press that he left agent Jimmy Sexton a message, but didn’t expect to hear back. Their quarterback, James McNear, has thrown 21 touchdowns and two interceptio…
