http://bearingthenews.com/?p=589 Game Comments: Bears V. Seahawks, January 16, 2011 Posted on January 16, 2011 by Tom Shannon Defense • The Bears came out with lots of single coverage with nickel personnel. They did a good job doing, it, too. • A key to the defensive effort was the ability of the Bears to stop the run with seven in the box. • The Seahawks were doing a lot of things right. For instance, with the exception of a brief period in the second quarter, they were mixing it up well with some good play calls. • The Seahawk plan was obviously to attack the edges. They also came out and showed some good misdirection plays. As most fans know, sp…

So looking at the current roster and contracts, the Bears have a very solid core, and look to add 5-6 more high end pieces to it this offseason. If they trade a top pick, it will be even more. Right now I am going to assume they pick up 5 impact players: Impact draft picks: 3 (2x 1st rounders, 3rd rounder) Expected bigger FA acquisitions: 2 So if the Bears run it back with Fields on his 4th year, here is where I think they need to upgrade or fill in the core of the team (top 35). The bottom 20 of the roster are very fluid, and would be filled with 4th Round to UDFA and 1-year vet deals. On offense, Center, WR2/3, and TE2 are the most glaring …

These two videos popped up on my feed today and I thought in light of the draft picks and what we've seen and heard about in our practices it was good for me to get a sense of the vision for the offense. (If these have been posted before I couldn't find them) In both videos at times they talk about how effective Goff was using his RBs as outlets which immediately reminded me of the reports of Johnson yelling at Caleb "faster, faster" when he was late on the outlet to Roschon this week. The 12 personnel video gives insight into the various strategies Johnson is using to stress defenses with 2 TEs alignments...beyond just the usual run/pass options. Colt McCo…

Floyd IMO is still ascending. I think with his body type we'll see that for a couple more years as he gains strength. The decision on his 5th year option is due this offseason and with all the things he does well I don't see anyway we can let him go after next season. So we're likely paying him the 5th year option which I believe is worth around $13-15mil. I'd rather see if we can work out a 3 or 4yr extension and since he doesn't have elite sack numbers try to keep him for around $8-10mil/yr. He's a good player but not elite in any category and his injury history mucks up the negotiating waters. If he's here for 4 more years (3 yr extension) he's just 30 when…

https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2019/06/19/the-nfls-11-best-offensive-tackles/ So the Bears did not make a top eleven tackle. But they had a player in every other list and in some two. Just amazing how good this defense is. I am looking forward to seeing how they will play with Pagano. And I don't for a minute think they are going backwards just because they lost Fangio. When Ryan left they were just as good and in many areas even better.

  12. I personally feel we need a subforum in here to separate college football and the draft from the Bears. I don't know about others, but when I click on this forum, I look for Bears and NFL news, and I think separating the two would be beneficial. Thoughts?

  13. Conditioning has Rex Grossman optimistic about 2008 A good article on Rex and his attempt to win the starting position at QB. I must admit, I admire his work ethics mentioned in the article. He is definately attempting to do everything possible to turn his career around. Will it be enough? Did he wait too long to work his butt off? Time will tell, I will be anxious to see how this translates on the field this Saturday. Unfortunately, I have a fantasy football league draft at 6:30 PM Central for a league at work so I will have to watch a recorded version after the draft is over. Therefore, I will not be able to be on the foum to comment during the game and …

Not expected to sign him, at least not yet. Expected to wait on making a move on wideouts until after the first preseason game on Friday. If Holmes was healthy, I would be on board with the move.

Forte has been a very good player for us but will be 29 during this football season. RBs start to hit the wall once they hit 1500 carries and Matt is at 1506, with 341 receptions. I think they start to take some of the carries away as they try to get two more years out from him and diversify the offense a little more in its second year. I dont think we go after anybody in FA, we will cut Bush(to much money). We have Ford, and will remain one of our backups but think we draft a compliment player to Forte. I think it will only be a 6th round type that will be able to be a backup RB and also play some slot WR. If Thomas/Ore or Archer/KS last until th…
