Just got back from the game. Some notes: - Not as cold as advertised. No wind so it was tolerable. We stood 95% of the game. - Both Brad Maynard and Robbie Gould should be in the probowl. Some one needs to explain to me how they are not. - Dave Toub deserves a huge raise. Special teams is the reason we won tonight (although they almost lost it at the end of the game). Manning return, punt fumble recovery, Hester return, blocked kick. All of these plays were huge. - Rasheed Davis did not play on offense. Bennett actually got reps. - Marty Booker: thanks for your great effort when you were here before but you need to go. Man was I wrong …

  2. I have ever seen. There were plenty of chances to get back into that game. We finally make it into the redzone, two piss poor sacks takes us out of field goal range. Then we get pinned back on the 1 yard liine down 24-3 in the third and they give up a safety. It started out hosed up and just kept getting worse. I hope this game was a wake up call. If they dont come out at home against the Packers with fire shooting out of their asses I'll probably lose it!!!

From Atlanta Cleveland gets 2 firsts, 1 2nd, and 2 4ths for Julio Jones. That's nuts for a guy who has drops.

Listened to Thayer on the SCORE with Double Z earlier tonight and he said Orton has progressed enough to be given the starting job. He also seem to say 5 yrs is enough time on Rex and the Bears need to move on - Rex has too many questions to answer. Peace

A nice look at Urlacher playing the run. This is worth watching considering all the talk about keeping our LB so close the LOS on so many plays. http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/mul...clip=Y&rn=2

Just wanted to alert everyone to the Thayers Play of the Week on ChicagoBears.com. The play of the week is Knox's 35 yard catch and run, what I thought was really interesting was the OLine's strong performance on the play, Thayer singles out JMarcus Webb, but more importantly Hester flattens a linebacker blocking for Knox! Maybe that is what this coaching staff expects and if they do not get it, players sit! Really impressive stuff from Hester on the play, not to mention the Cutler throw and Knox catch and run. I think there is alot to look forward to this year from the offence.

Thayer has some good analysis on our fullback and how he impacted the game. There was some discussion after the Giants game about how ineffective we were on runs up the middle but it was hit and miss. I felt it was worth sharing as it explains why the Giants impacted that with their 8 man fronts even using the 46 Defense at times. http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/vid...2d-260208440f47

So as of right now this is what our Bears look like on paper. Not bad but we can get better IMHO the players listed in Bold are locks to make the team, the underlined ones are the first to be cut, but the others are a toss up as to who stays and who goes QB Cutler, McCown, Blanchard RB Forte, Bush, Allen, Unga, TE Bennett, Maneri, Rodriguez, Adams, Eldridge, Miller, Onobun WR Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett, Weems, Anderson, Golden, Moss, Toliver, OT Bushrod, Webb, Carimi, Scott,Brandon, OG Slauson, Brown, Williams, Britton, Riley, Dennis, C Garza, Boggs, DE Peppers, McClellin, Wootton, McBride, Ozougwu, Moore, Whi…

Here's my not-so-serious attempt at making a draft board for the Bears that would have a list of great names for all fans. To be honest, I wouldn't be terribly upset with this draft. 1st - Colt McCoy, QB, Tex - I have never heard a name sound more like a quarterback name 2nd - Phil Loadholt, OT, OU - Just admit it...he has a cool name. 3rd - Fenuki Tupou, OG, Oregon - It's about time the Bears brought in an Islander. 3rd - Javorskie Lane, FB, Tex A&M - Javorskie is cool on it's on, and sounds like a Bear player's name. But the last name of Lane as a FB is like having Dunk as a basketball player's last name. 4th - Stryker Sulak, DE-OLB, Miss - How do you…

Just read on NFL.com what we all suspected, and hoped for, that the Bears are going to change Hester's role in the offense and he will be basically a #4 WR to come in on certain situations, packages. Here is a link to the article: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d828c..._headline_stack

Some have talked about how to fix offense or defense, and pointed to defense being closer. This is true. But if the coaches and franchise want Trubisky to succeed, he needs to be given everything he needs. That means weapons and tons of time to throw to the weapons. Here's the mock draft that would fit that bill. Trading down is obviously mandatory. Your score is: 15527 (GRADE: C+) - Don't care about this score. Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 19 (BUF): Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame ( B )-Starts at LT immediately Round 1 Pick 29 (PITT): Courtland Sutton, WR, Southern Methodist ( B+ )-Stud WR and Red Zone mismatch, a crutch for Trubisky. Round 2 Pick 6: Ronnie …

  15. Since we dont have anything else to talk about, i thought it might be a good time to say that the "new" kickoff rule looked pretty good this past year. I was initially unsure. You guys may remember that I worried that there might be some new unintended wrinkles that would allow cheap or lucky free touchdowns. But in truth, having seen it tested across a season, it seems even more solid than the previous rule when it comes to dumb little mistakes causing cheap touchdowns. Im not talking about earned touchdowns, where a Devin Hester type scores because of his skill or dominance - those are always good. But of those that were not earned, i think the new rule p…

    1. Devin Hester is a true reciever. He had several big plays today and looked the part like never before. Lets hope this continues. 2. Mike martz can adjust a game plan. His changing up the game plan was masterfull. Knowing his line was in trouble he took it out of the lines hands started the quick passing game that did not require a lineman to hold his block. Absolutely Genius. I say Genius because I never seen it from a Team in chicago before. Great win. No last minute blow ups. Truely a coaching win.

Who would have thought that a Kyle Orton led Bear team with many missing key defensive players would of whooped the first place Green Bay Packers? The Bears got to examine Orton, Wolfe, Williams, McBride, Toeiana and Kennedy. What they learned IMO is that Orton can go into 2008 competing for the #1 spot but most likely claiming the #2. The Bears should sign Grossman and release Griese and spend a first day draft pick on a QB. Running back in 2008 will not see much change as long a Cedric Benson can come back 100% healthy. Adrian Peterson deserves a shot at being the featured back coming into next camp but if anything we need to spit the carries and give Wolfe a seri…

Thanks to RockfordBears for the thought... Lovie Smith is Coach Dale The similarities are astounding. Neither has a clue how to adjust to any gametime situation. Both are stuck in "their system" so much that other concepts are an affront to their knowledge. In fact, they run their system to the fault of their team's talent. How else can we explain the fact that Coach Dale wanted to give the ball to someone other than Jimmy, who was shooting 98% throughout the playoffs? Speaking of that, both mismanage their players' talents. Much like Coach Dale, Lovie insists on forcing the square peg into the round hole, or maybe everyone else is wrong () about the cover-2 …
