  4. Noots’ Notes-Game 13: 23-10 Win over Jacksonville By Michael Nudo The Bears treated their fans to a 23-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at a frigid (wind chills in the low single digits) Soldier Field on Sunday. The Bears made just enough plays in every aspect of a hard fought team victory to improve their record to 7-6 in the NFC North. They’re one game behind Minnesota, who eked out a 20-16 victory over winless Detroit. Coming through in the clutch (AP Photo/David Banks). OFFENSE Quarterback Kyle Orton (20-34-219, 2 TD, INT) bounced back from his worst game of the season with a solid performance. He drilled a 3-yard touchdown pass t…

Let's face it guys, this Bears team isn't very good. Our QB play is reasonable and we have a solid young RB. But out O Line is old, beat up and not exactly great these days. Our receivers SUCK bigtime. On D, we can't tackle. We can't seem to play 3rd down either. At times, teams run at will on us and at others, we play the run well. Our special teams aren't very special anymore. Oh, and our coaches are so vanilla it makes me sick. But that isn't what this post is about. Our guys are our guys and I love them, regardless. And if a Packers fan said anything I've said above I'd beat him senseless... But with all of our obvious flaws, we're 7-6 and stil…

first before we start thinking draft. I sincerely think that Lovie should start with himself. If I read it right his contract stipulated that he gets more control over team decisions like personnel, coaches etc. and thats great if it's working well. But it's not, He's no "Tony Dungy" like his mentor. Lovie seems to like to surround himself with yes men. God forbid they have a thought of thinking out of the box or the Lovie way. The same could be said for Angelo to a certain point. I'm tired of the Tampa defense, Former Tampa, Ram coaches, and players or anybody related in Tampa OR St louis. It's done, over, fini, addios. His hand picked coaching staff h…

Right now there are eight teams that are guaranteed to be ahead of the Bears in the draft: Seattle, St. Louis, Detroit, KC, Oakland, Houston, Cincinnati, and Cleveland There are five other teams that could arguably be ahead or behind the Bears: SF, GB, SD, Jax, Buffalo So, that means the Bears will draft between 9 and 14. Players who are probably going to be off the board: Stafford - QB Brian Orakpo - DE Michael Oher - OT Andre Smith - OT Taylor Mays -S Eugene Monroe - OT Ray Maualuga - LB Michael Crabtree - WR (if he comes out) Terrence Cody - DT (if he comes out) Chris Wells - RB (someone is gonna do it) Scenario #1 (realisti…

From Don Banks' "Snap Judgments" at cnnsi.com: By some estimates, it's going to be a double-digit year in terms of NFL head coaching changes. But if there's any silver lining to all that impending turnover, it's that teams looking for an upgrade at defensive coordinator might find an unbelievably deep buyer's market to choose from. How so? Well, consider the potential defensive coordinator prospects if there's a bloodbath in the head coaching ranks: Wade Phillips, Romeo Crennel, Marvin Lewis, Rod Marinelli, Jim Haslett, Dick Jauron, Herman Edwards and Mike Singletary are all ex-defensive coaches who are thought to be in varying degrees of jeopardy. And then…

Thougt it would be fun to start a Bears Big Board and how it will come together by April. This is not particularly the order the Bears would take a player, but the order they see the players ranked. How would you rank the players? 1 Andre Smith OT Alabama 2 Matt Stafford QB Georgia 3 Eugene Monroe OT Vir 4 Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech 5 Brian Orakpo DE Texas 6 Michael Oher OT Ole Mis 7 Malcom Jenkins CB Ohio St. 8 James Laurinitis LB Ohio St. 9 Michael Johnson DE Georgia Tech 10 Rey Maualuga LB USC 11 Sam Brafford QB Oklahoma 12 Taylor Mays S USC 13 Aaron Curry LB Wake Forrest 14 Vontae Davis CB Illinois 15 Kn…

  11. JUDGE RULES IN FAVOR OF WILLIAMS AND WILLIAMS Posted by Michael David Smith on December 3, 2008, 7:28 p.m. Minnesota Vikings defensive tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams have won a big victory in their efforts to avoid being suspended by the National Football League KSTP-TV in Minneapolis is reporting that Judge Gary Larson has issued a temporary restraining order against the NFL. That means, for now, that Williams and Williams should be allowed to play Sunday. The Williamses said they were heading straight from the courthouse to the Vikings’ practice facility. However, this is far from over. KSTP reports that another hearing is expected in the next fe…

In this game it became clearly obvious that Lovie Smith has lost this team. Ron Turner ran four consecutive plays up the gut for no gain when the Bears clearly should have gone up 14-3 in the second quarter. The next play run by the Vikings goes quickly for a 99 yard TD reception to Berrian of all people is pretty sad. Shows that the defense was not completely thinking about all the scenarios that were possibly coming at them. Then if you look at the sidelines as NBC showed them, the entire team seemed to have their heads down and had this "We Are Defeated" look all about them. To me, this just goes to show how far this team has slipped since the debacle in Miami for…

INJURY REPORT AND IMPLICATIONS Jacksonville Jaguars (4-8) at Chicago Bears (6-6) By Michael Nudo ________________________________________________________________________________ ____ Injuries on the offensive line have severely limited the Jaguars’ offense (Getty images/Streeter Lecka). BEARS OFFENSE vs. JAGUARS DEFENSE Kyle Orton has struggled (41-83-417 3 TD, 3 INT) in the three games since his return from a high ankle sprain. He appeared to be moving around in the pocket better last week, but had a difficult time with both accuracy and decision making. Fullback Jason McKie (quadriceps) missed last week’s game. He was replaced by Jason Davis…

Trib reports: "The Bears re-signed defensive end Joe Clermond to the practice squad Tuesday. Clermond entered the league with the Bears this season as an undrafted free-agent out of Pittsburgh." Now the DL is solidified. Now we are going to kick butt! NOT!
