The epitome of mediocrity 1. 6-6 record, 16th overall ranking on defense, 23rd overall ranking on offense. It doesn't get (much) more tepid than that. What's especially disturbing,however... 2. Is how the Bears appear to be regressing. The defense has been spotty at best all season. now the offense can't get out of its own way. Special teams, a former strength, have disappeared. "Super Bowl" contenders, when they lose tough games early in the season, from my recollection, don't get steadily worse as the season wears on. Why get cute? Give the ball to Forte every down from that distance, anyone doubt he'd get it in?

The one consistent bright spot has been Forte this season and he finally eclipsed the 1000 yard mark as a rookie. Congrats, hats off.

Extremely fast with great size b - Jeremy Maclin (WR) More of a reciever than Bey and can be used all over the field c - Taylor Mays (S) My personal choice, this dude is a monster at safety. What got into him? He was awful in Chicago and he goes on to Tennessee and is contributing like a real WR. He ended the season last year on a hot streak of several games and is having a decent year so far this year with Kerry "Im drunked" Collins. I always hate when a player leaves the Bears and goes elsewhere and contributes more than he did in Chicago.

But, let's take a look at how Sunday night's game will affect the NFC North standings. Now, if Chicago wins, the Vikings are in BIG trouble, as not only would Chicago have a one-game lead over the Purple, but they also will have swept the season series from the Vikings as well, meaning any tie between the two teams would go to Chicago. That would be a huge advantage for Da Bears, and would put a significant dent into any hopes that the Vikings would have of winning the NFC North. And, since this division sure as heck isn't getting any wild card teams, that would mean the Vikings would be sitting at home this January. However, assuming a Green Bay loss to Carolina.…

BEARS PLACE VASHER ON IR Posted by Mike Florio on November 29, 2008, 1:19 p.m. If the Chicago Bears are going to return to the postseason in 2008, they’ll have to make it happen without starting cornerback Nathan Vasher. On Saturday, the Bears placed Vasher on injured reserve. The team announced the move via e-mail several minutes ago. Vasher has a broken hand. Recently, coach Lovie Smith wouldn’t comment on whether the injury would end Vasher’s season. To fill the spot created by the move, the Bears promoted fullback Jason Davis from the practice squad to the active roster.
