I’ve been trying to avoid starting a new topic but saw a story on Robert Quinn that got my attention. Turns out he’s had a benign brain tumor most of his life. I know someone like that and being benign doesn’t mean it’s not dangerous or disruptive. Many props to him considering how he’s playing this year and has played most of his career.

Does anyone follow, listen to or watch anything from Barstool Sports? I have seen a few things, mainly Big Cat who is a Bears fan, seems like a funny guy. Well, Pat McAfee, former Indy Punter, just signed a $30M a year deal with FanDuel leaving Barstool Sports. First off, that is more than he made in his entire NFL career (which is mind-boggling). Secondly, I can't imagine what ESPN and other networks are paying terrible QBs as analysts (Dan Orlovsky, etc). Besides McAfee, the only other personality of interest in Barstool is Big Cat. I can't imagine he is making anywhere near that much because the entire company is only valued at $200-$400M nowadays, which is …

He has some good insights into our offseason with the new coaches, strength and conditioning program, Oline, and the WRs. Most of that is in the first half of the interview and the second half goes further back to his days with Angelo.

The Bears really got the shaft in terms of SoS this year. The NFC North in general got both East divisions which don't have a team with a losing record. So that is 8 games against winning teams, then the Bears have 2x MIN and played SF. So 11 games against winning teams, and 4 of the non-winning games are against GB and DET. That leaves ATL and HOU as the last two games. I still can't believe the Bears lost to ATL. After the next two weeks, the Bears will have played the top 4 teams in terms of DVOA, PHI, BUF, SF, and DAL. Talk about bad luck. At least the Bears get the NFC South next year. That is the only division without a team with a winning record. They al…

  6. Pretty big news, I like the continuity for Year 2 for the new offense.

I think we should address our offensive problems in FAgency and defense in the draft. Go after Dem. Bell OLT -Bills young and above average Go after Steve Johnson WR-Bills, better passing option here Go after Steve Smith WR-Phil, not cost alot and will like the chance to be a bigger part of offense Go after Fred DavisTE-Wash all good offense teams have a good pass catching TE. In the draft we get a DE, CB, and LB help .

  8. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...ng-me-positive/ Johnny Knox praises Hester for “keeping me positive” Posted by Mike Florio on May 31, 2012, 5:53 PM EDT AP As MDS has pointed out, Bears receiver Devin Hester is paying close attention to Brandon Marshall. But Hester has paid a different kind of attention to teammate Johnny Knox, and Knox is forever grateful for it. Knox praised Hester on Wednesday for showing true concern for Knox in the difficult months since Knox suffered a severe spinal injury during a December 2011 game. “Devin has done a great job of keeping me positive,” Knox said, via Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune. “H…

What if we beat Dallas with the same dominance that we beat NE? So what changes ? We will be in the running for a playoff berth in a less than stellar NFC. 6 0f the next 9 games are at home. Buffalo and Philly are almost sure loses but the rest of the schedule is winnable. We have a ton of young players, are they starting to jell and play better. The answer is YES. A weak spot is our D line. In the last 3 games they are holding teams to 105 yards rushing a game. Down from the pervious average of 185. Our DBs are starting to take over games. With the ability to stop the run and get more TOs that is putting us in the position to win every game. Getsy is star…

It seems Fairley has run afoul of Lions' management. http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2014/...ot_pick_up.html If you recall Peppers was accused of 'taking plays off now and then' but still did pretty well when he played in Chicago. And Fairley is younger...fifth year in next season (2015). Would Chicago benefit from looking into this? Maybe Fairley could prove to be a decent 3T or NT given the right situation? My thought is he played too much into the free for all no discipline that was Schwartz' coaching and became lazy because of it. Maybe with the new staff in Detroit he'll do better? Maybe he'd do better in a different NFC North team?

  14. Martz oozes confidence at first press conference Posted by Evan Silva on February 1, 2010 7:30 PM ET The Bears' hire of Mike Martz as offensive coordinator is being criticized in some parts and praised in others. At Monday's introductory press conference, Martz touched on some of the developments that led up to his new position and his plans for the Bears' offense. Martz felt an "instant connection" with quarterback Jay Cutler when the two met for dinner in Nashville on Saturday night. "That happened to me with Jon Kitna the first time I met him, too," Martz said. "This was very interesting because we were on the same page on so many things." …

  16. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...ain-in-seattle/ No Tim Ruskell first-round picks remain in Seattle Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 13, 2011, 11:03 AM EDT ReutersDrafting poorly is the quickest way to sink a franchise. There is little debate over whether Tim Ruskell drafted poorly while he was team president of the Seahawks. Only nine players remain from the 2005-2009 drafts when Ruskell was in charge. The best player among them? Probably Brandon Mebane. Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times notes that no first-round picks are left from the Ruskell years. Cornerback Kelly Jennings was traded for a roast beef sandwich before the season.…

  17. I IMHO think that they will be better than they were last year due to Martz leaving and players back from injury. They were doing well at the mid point of the season having a few games I think without giving up a sack. If the Bears use the shotgun more and the short three step drops then the Oline will not have try to hold their blocks long. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/nfl/bears/

After the major offseason moves, the main roster snap counts come down to the following: 2020 - Trubisky, Fuller, Leno, Massie, RRH, and Patterson 2021- Fields, Trufant, Jenkins, Daniels, Goldman, and Cohen/Williams Fields replaces Trubisky, huge upgrade regardless if Fields starts immediately or not. Jenkins and Daniels on the O-Line vs Leno and Massie is an upgrade in my eyes. Goldman back for RRH is an upgrade, and the backfield touches of Patterson to Cohen/Williams as an RB is an upgrade. The two clear downgrades we have are Fuller at CB for Trufant/Roberson/Graham/Burns and Patterson as KR to Herbert, Newsome. However, of the 22 O/D starters, onl…
