Obviously QB's are way too protected by the rules and, IMO, rules can't possibly protect the QB's. All the rules in the world wouldn't have saved Brady last season. When a lineman accidently hits a QB with his pinkie it shouldn't cost the D 15 yards. COME ON! And this whole "Landing on the QB with all your weight" deal, ridiculous. That's exactly what you should do to a QB when you get there! I'm not saying hit him late, play within the rules. But the rules shouldn't make it nearly impossible to get a sack without incurring a penalty. I don't believe "helmet to helmet" ought to be illegal. Maybe they should make better helmets but if two players collide and i…

Just read in this in the Chicago Tribune today. "Rookie defensive end Henry Melton, placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury, didn't look too banged up as he jogged to the practice field to watch his teammates."

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=6086 He's saying he's fine but then says it's only 50/50 that he'll play? Bullshit. If they hold him out and his "replacement" gets burned a few times and we lose our opener to Green Bay, I'll blame Lovie! He's your top dog out there on the corner, don't waste time with the other guys.

Chicago It seemed that the bears were content to run a small set of plays to build on field chemistry. I didn't notice a lot of two tight end sets or Olsen in the slot or lined up on the outside. I mention these because I see those two sets doing well against Green Bay on Sunday. Green Bay Going to a 3/4 defense is tough having run something different the year before. First: New personel to fit the defense means decrease in team chemistry. This helps our running game due to the changes in the middle. I know Raji looked decent in the preseason but I like our chances up the middle. Perfect time to play green bay in green bay is the first game of the yea…

Since this was the position he started out with at Texas he could be a good FB with this run first team because of his size at 6'3 260 and how fast he is. As you saw he can run back kick offs too, LOL so we know he can catch also.

LM: Why did the Bears chose to keep Rashied Davis and Devin Aromashodu ahead of Brandon Rideau? JA: Rashied has a role on this football team. He could be a good slot receiver if we chose to play him in the slot. He also has tremendous value has a special teams player. That in itself is why he has value to our football team. If you’re not one of the top three receivers, four, five and six have to be the best special teams players. So he’s got a real value for our team. Brandon was a close call. Obviously, we liked Devin Aromashodu a little bit better, and we’ll see if our assessment of our receivers was accurate. LM: Jay Cutler didn’t hide the fact that he felt A…

Bears | Tillman's status for Week 1 uncertain Comment (0) Thu, 10 Sep 2009 07:18:55 -0700 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports it is not known if Chicago Bears CB Charles Tillman (back) will be allowed to play in the team's Week 1 game. CB Zackary Bowman is expected to take his place in the starting lineup if Tillman can't play.

According to Betus.com they have us listed as 3 1/2 pt underdogs. This is a bit surprising as this would mean that on a neutral field they like GB by almost a TD.

INJURY REPORT AND IMPLICATIONS Chicago Bears (0-0) at Green Bay Packers (0-0) By Michael Nudo The Packers are eager to get rookie B.J. Raji into the action (Getty Images). BEARS OFFENSE vs. PACKERS DEFENSE The Bears’ offense is in good health entering the first contest. Troy Polamalu on Madden 2010 Cover, gets hurt in first game of the season. Ouch. We play the Steelers in Week 2, and that is a huge loss for them if he is out (and a plus for us). EDIT: Steelers coach Mike Tomlin indicated after Thursday's game that SS Troy Polamalu was initially diagnosed with a sprained MCL in his left knee. There's nothing "concrete" yet on Polamalu's injury, and Tomlin admitted that it could be more serious. Expect the All Pro to be sidelined for at least 3-6 weeks. - Rotoworld

  17. From PFT: League's reaction to StarCaps ruling focuses on disparity Posted by Mike Florio on September 11, 2009 4:23 PM ET In the wake of Friday's decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit that Saints defensive ends Charles Grant and Will Smith will be suspended for taking StarCaps and Vikings defensive tackles Pat and Kevin Williams won't, the NFL's reaction centers on the obvious differences in treatment, and the union's role in letting it happen. "The real losers today are the players on 31 other clubs," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said via e-mail, "who no longer live under the same rules as players on the Minnesota Vikings -- a resu…

I wanted to get everyone's opinion on a proposed trade in one of my leagues. I have been leaning both ways. T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Brandon Marshall for Torry Holt, Greg Olsen, and Santonio Holmes. BTW this is a PPR league.

It is supposed to look that way. Having a couple of the defensive linemen in a cocked position -- usually the interior linemen -- is just one of the minor tweaks assistant head coach Rod Marinelli has implemented since taking over the defensive line." ************************************************************************** Maybe I was drinking too much during the games but I don't recall our DTs lining up this way during the preseason, at least not routinely.
