Realistically
Connor, what are you going to do about your tickets? We're likely selling our remaining home games over eBay if they lose Thursday.

where to begin...
Don't count on it. I'd bank on us bringing in a guy like Leslie Frazier (current Vikings DC) or Jason Garrett (current Cowboys OC). Maybe not exactly 1 of those 2, but like Connor said, we aren't going to eat $11m by firing Lovie THEN go out and spend $10m per year over the next 4 years on a guy like Holmgren, Shanahan, or Cowher. Who cares if we can't handle our own business?

where to begin...
I'm speechless. IMO- we're about to turn into the Bucs. Our defense is aging and is always hurt. However, we have no draft picks to get younger there (plus we need to use the few that we have to also improve and get younger on the OL).

If Lovie really believes this he should be fired.
The argument is over if they want to get paid or win more, not if they "give a shit about winning at all". I agree with Jason. I highly doubt guys cares about winning more then getting paid. Yeah, John St Clair loves winning over money, which is why he went to Cleveland for $3m per year.

I have a conundrum
I'll be at the game being a STH, but I watch every game I don't attend on my 60 inch HD TV. Nothing beats HD. I say you stay home.

Offseason Needs
If we sign Mankins at 8m per (which I doubt he leaves NE) and sign Atogwe to anchor our FS spot that is currently occupied by members of this board, I'd say that's a pretty good offseason. I think we'll FT Ogunleye too; otherwise we have nothing at DE going into next year. There aren't too many good DE's going into FA this year. BTW- I'd like to see what Adams can do soon.

Did you all see the Payton video?
I hate the "Peterson is the next Payton" bulls***. Payton was a fantastic blocker as well as a receiving RB, while Peterson isn't.

Offseason Needs
Between McNeill, Atogwe, Jackson, Hartwig, and Mankins, that's going to be about $39 million (Mankins- 7, Jackson- 6, Hartwig- 8, Atogwe- 8, McNeill- 10). I highly doubt that happens. I'd be satisfied with Mankins OR McNeill, and Atogwe.

Browns @ Bears 11-1-09 12:00 CT
Arizona looks so good for 2 weeks, then they get blown out by Carolina at home. BTW- Boldin left the game yesterday with an ankle. I love the guy, but I wouldn't mind seeing him out for Sunday.

Cleveland game thoughts
I was at the game so it was hard to really disect the game, but I agree on Cutler. I love this guy. He's a god damn football player and I love it. He was out there getting blasted play after play by a 350 pound Shaun Rodgers, yet he kept getting up. Under the circumstances, he played well. The OL looked just as bad with Beekman BTW.
-
Evidence that Stats lie
The OL today was the worst pass protection job of the year even with Beekman.

Anyone an ESPN insider member?
Due to the OL being so bad, we should just do a lot of bootlegs. It's better then 3-7 step drops, stopping, then having to move out of the pocket due to the ineptness of the OL. If we do some bootlegs, he's already on his way out of the pocket.

Exactly. And yeah, Lovie does have some say. But it's ultimately JA who makes the call. Therefore, maybe it's the scouts who need to get fired.

It's not Lovie's fault we signed Pace and Omiyale, and drafted guys like Harrison, Gilbert, and Igelsias, and traded for a guy like Adams.

We should really beat the hell out of Cleveland. That team is complete s***.- If the Bears HADN'T traded for Jay Cutler, and you now have 20/20 hindsight, what would you have done with the draft picks?
Clearly, I've always been with you on getting younger and better on the OL, but I'd like to see Williams get a shot at LT before I stick him on the bench and instead draft a 4th-6th round LT who chances are that he'll never amount to jack in the NFL. Omiyale does suck, but he's never been a starter in the NFL yet alone a RG. He's a RT and he always has been. He has no reason to suck total a** like he does, but cut him a bit of slack. Insert Beekman there, Williams at LT, and Loadholt at RT, and our OL suddenly has become younger AND better.- If the Bears HADN'T traded for Jay Cutler, and you now have 20/20 hindsight, what would you have done with the draft picks?
1 Percy Harvin, WR, Florida (now with Vikings) 2 Phil Loadholt, RT, Oklahoma (now with Vikings) 3 Jerraud Powers, CB, Auburn (now with Colts) 4 Louis Murphy, WR, Florida (now with Raiders) 5 Tom Brandstater, QB, Fresno State (now with Broncos) 6 Al Afalava, S, Oregon State (with us) 7 Sammie Stroughter, WR, Oregon State (now with Tampa Bay) Keep in mind, a deep threat like Knox wouldn't be working out this well with Orton, so definite guys like Harvin and Murphy would be great with Hester and Bennett. Also, Loadholt has been stellar and so has Powers. I can't complain with Afalava. Brandstater is a nice QB prospect.- Beginning of the end for Harris?
- Nothing against Cutler, but he was not the answer
Exactly. There's no way Orton would have made it this far already with the way our OL is pass blocking and run blocking. Cutler's feet make it possible to not get sacked on every play like Orton would if he was still here. Also, the lack of run game would be killing us if Orton was here. BTW- Knox probably wouldn't be making this impact as a WR, and same with Hester and Bennett for the most part.- What is wrong?
I think we can beat Minnesota at home, especially since it'll likely be anywhere from -10-20 degrees. Also, we have to pray there's either a wind storm and/or a thunderstorm for that Arizona game, or Warner is going to pick our defense apart just like Palmer did.- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
I think I was spot on with Hester's receptions and his 1 TD but 1 yard off on his yards, too. - Derek Anderson Will Start
