  1. Still has talent, although the prognosis isn't too encouraging. Rotoworld:
  2. Safety's a need, also, but it's a weak position in this draft. Phillips seems to be the only one worthy of a first-round pick. (I know there's some disagreement even on him, it's jmho.) I think any one of Long, Clady, Otah, and Williams would be acceptable value at 14. It is a deep ot class, so if you can trade down and still get one of those four, that would be great. Even the next tier (Cherilus & Baker) look good as late first round picks. I just don't like any of the top qbs enough to get excited about using a first round pick. That includes Ryan, despite the consensus on him. Personally, I think I'd rather gut it out this year with Rex and Kyle and wait for next year -- either for the draft, or to see if Quinn is made available. As for rb, Stewart and Mendenhall both look like solid picks. And although I'm sure most would see it as a luxury, Sedrick Ellis would be a good pick at 14. Overall, I think there's a lot of value in our pick. If you could trade down and get one of Otah, Williams, Cherilus, Baker, Stewart, Mendenhall, and Phillips, that would be great, too. I'm pretty optimistic about the draft, as it looks pretty deep at areas where we have needs. Heck, if we took two offensive tackles high, I wouldn't mind. Just no reaches.
  3. He got a minimum contract: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...-bear08.article "Lloyd, who starred for Turner at Illinois, signed a one-year contract for the minimum-salary benefit..."
  4. Lloyd was hardly buried in Washington. He was the starting receiver beside Moss for most of 2006-2007, until his crap play landed him on the bench -- Randle-El was the #3. Last year he plummeted WAY down the depth chart even before his injury -- he was second (actually more like fifth, but whatever) fiddle to guys like James Thrash, Keenan McCardell. Would anyone be excited if the Bears picked one of those guys up? I even like the signing, but Lloyd sucked and sucked HARD in Washington, all by his lonesome bust self. Seeing any similarity to Berrian is pie-in-the-sky type stuff.
  5. Just signed with Seattle, sez rotoworld.
  6. I dunno. Is it so hard for you that you can't read the post I was replying to? It's a ONE YEAR DEAL. That's done so someone can get cut without being a big cap drag. Or for faded veteran stars who can at least contribute but want a shot at another multi-year deal. Since Lloyd's not a faded star, nor even a star, and there's no guarantee he can contribute, 1+1=...tryout. Guys on the verge of washing out of the league who get a one-year deal -- tryout. You love making unequivocal statements and just screaming them over and over again without backing up anything. It's really tiresome.
  7. Okay, that's possible. I haven't seen much of him with the Redskins. Not that anyone else has, either. Some places list his weight as 200, when he was 180 or so coming out of college and with the 49ers. That's a pretty big change -- you have to wonder if he's just less effective with the extra weight. Pure speculation, just thinking out loud, but it could help explain why he was such a bust with Washington.
  8. He'll never be a #1 wr. He's a scrawny little thing who, at his best, can rotate in and make a few plays. Like you say, this is a very minor signing, basically just a tryout. Nothing to get excited or worried about.
  9. So he left because he wanted to play more defense...and goes to a team with a perpetually solid lb corps... Smart choice, there.
  10. First sentence of rotoworld's take: "Al Davis has lost his mind."
  11. I would take Rodgers over the rest, but Kitna would be the safer pick.
  12. Well, I know that. But he had that last year, and he wasn't playing then.
  13. I thought they were trying to move to a more physical style of running. Why would they use him more?
  14. According to JA, we already have a Warrick Dunn.
  15. So, basically, not use him? Like last year, just worse?
  16. So does anyone know what the Falcons will do with Norwood? Rumors, anything?
  17. Angelo is a build-from-the-line-out guy. From that perspective, a great rb or wr is much more of a luxury than a great dt. I don't think it's totally crazy, but the only way it could happen, imo, is if (say) we somehow managed to land Sedrick Ellis at 14 (not gonna happen -- but then, we weren't going to land Harris at 14, either) and he shows similar dominance this upcoming year. Then next offseason you could think about a trade. But JA is not going to be satisfied without an elite dt, no matter what else he gets in return.
  18. Yeah, but Taylor might want to force a trade. He may not be around for the improved version of the Dolphins we'll see in a couple years, so he may want to get to a contender now while he can contribute. I still wouldn't be surprised to see a trade happen.
  19. Hold the phone. Parcells says JT's going nowhere -- http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3273442
  20. Cut? How could they not get picks for a guy who notched 10+ sacks last season and was the DPOY the year before?
  21. Definitely not a 3rd. If someone really liked one of those 2 in the draft and just missed on him, it's possible he could approach JA -- but it would certainly be a lower pick, maybe conditional. Doesn't really seem worth it.
  22. I didn't say otherwise. In fact, that's kind of obvious to everyone. Doesn't change the fact that we have some good players who aren't being utilized much.
  23. Because freakin the Vikings back worked so well for the Seahawks.
  24. Never again!!!!! Or 7 more years. Whatever. Now, what to do with these extra linebackers?
  25. Quinn says he's ready for the competition. Savage says, What competition? http://blog.dispatch.com/jwalker_browns/20...o_compete.shtml More discord! More discord!
