  1. Count me in that faction as well. I'd like Trestman to pick his guy and groom him...

    That game was awesome.

  4. So many of us have been clamoring for more FB usage. Glad to see Tom make mention...
  5. I completely agree on your take on tacking fundamentals. The players may be trying so hard for the strip, that they are not wrapping up correctly... Interesting point. I love the potential of what Bostic brings to the table. I'd like to see him get his reps. I fully expect some big mistakes. But I also expect to see some big hits. If he can come away smarter from his mistakes and build on them, we could be treated to something special down the road for sure.
  6. Because of the law of averages... Then again, we somehow find these legendary LB's somehow...
  7. Great points! I truly hope Bostic can be "that" guy. I don't expect a Briggs/Url beast. But a really good solid potential pro bowl level player. Trestman has talked a lot about fundamentals. I hope the players respond...
  8. Ha! Pool jumping guy! I forgot about that one...
  9. Agreed. One door closes, another opens... Wasn't that how Url got his gig?
  10. But everyone brining up Url is mising the point. He is no longer on the team... We need to discuss how we can fix what is in front of us. Emery will probably get something out of how he handled the situation. We didn't hire a seasoned veteran. He will make a few mistakes. Maybe those were. It would certainly be interested to see how things would be...but the move strike me as one of a team that want to go forward instead of clutching to the past. If you look at our D...we are old. Adding a very old Url probably does not solve that issue. Having Izzy probably lessens the pain, but Izzy was not spectacular. We are oigng youth movement. And we will see more of it next year. I peresonally like his take charge attitude. It should be his way or the highway. Url got boat-tons of loot from this franchise. He also went with the same attitude of my way or the highway. Why is that attitude good for Url and bad for Phil? Agreed on Tucker. I prefer a guy on the sidelines. But, then again, maybe that's just semantics. He has his work cut out for him...
  11. That's a shame. I think we've exceeded our injury quota...
  12. Good points. But please let Url go...the Bears miss Singletary too, but he's also retired. Let's move on from that one and deal with the hand we are dealt. Tucker, right now, has an extremely thankless job. He's dealing with a transitional defense and a rash of injuries that even Dick LeBeau would struggle with. THis is a town used to great D, and we're not getting it. If he can do anything positive with this D from here on out it'll be focussing on tackling, getting the damn safeties in place, calling a little better game, finding the right time to blitz...and that will be a job well done. I hope he's up to the challenge. And BTW - Di Camilis needs to get his unit tackling better as well. That's a serious dropoff from Toub... Again, more fuel for my bizarro world thought. A previous strength, now a potential weakness. (Except Gould...who is still the gold standard of kicking....excet on-sides)
  13. Well said! The urgency issue is really annoying for me. Why is this an issue w/ a professional squad? Also, why are we taking a TO on first down too many times after a fairly big play. Get up and run the next play! After that TO, we just ran up the gut. A TO for that? I could see on burning a TO on 3rd down...but on first...for a no gain gut run? Just bad... I like Trestman...but enough with the 4th down going for it. Only do so when the score and time of the game dictate it or you are in no man's land with small yrd needed. (Between kicking a FG and not quite worth punting...like the 42yd line...)
  14. Done! Injuries are Killing us, but lack of tackling and poor safety play is correctable and curretly irritating.
  15. I'll take a win anyway we can get it! Granted, we were depleted...from the DT's, to Tillman, to DJ Williams. But, our guys are still missing tackles, safeties look out of position... That stuff I am more irritated about. I tihnk the "age" issue we've been hearing about for years is finally here. Briggs still looks OK. But Tillman can't stay on the filed, half the time I can't tell if Peppers is out there, and Hester appears to be done. To me, it is bizarro world. Our previous strengths are now weaknesses, and our previous weaknesses are now strengths. The good thing, is in the modern NFL...it's better to be better on O than D. And from this point on this season, we should expect to be gashed on D. And the O will have to deliver stellar performances to get the wins. I fully expect every game to be a struggle. Time to get my popcorn out! (With a glass of Lagavulin...)
  16. Our O is good enough to win it all. Our D is a disgrace. Wait, what?!!! This is the polar opposite of what we've been experiencing for decades. OUr O did just fine. Other than a couple of questionable play calls. 4th and ? Kick the damn ball Kromer and Trestman!!!! But the D was gashed again. An off the street hack, had an Earl Campbell-like night. I'd look like Bronko Nagurski out there against our D. We need a change. Hard. It's not working. We can only beat the bottom feeders.

  18. Thankfully, the Gnats don't have a Jimmy G clone...
  19. Glad to see i'm providing you with such entertainment!
  20. Super trap... They are better than 0-5. I just hope we're not the one that gives them the win...
  21. Maybe McCown should start and play until the 3rd...then Cutty comes in?
  22. He's got 13,660 yds for career as a Bear. Luckman has 14,686. He need sonly 1,027 to break the record. At the end of the season, if not in 4 weeks of play, Jay will be the all time Bears passing leader. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/team...eer-passing.htm
