  1. F that! The Bears will be the 2012 Bears! They'll be better than these Giants! mmmm, Kool-aid......
  2. BINGO! I think you really spelled it out there. 9 times out of 10, the SB would have probably been Ravens and Saints w/ the Saints winning handily. (F Green Bay...) But, I feel also that this past SB was a bit of an anomaly, not the probable. However, I also think the idea of the offensive minded teams hag a better chance to win over the long haul of the playoffs is the way to go. Yes, the Ravens are the exception. SF was also such... But SF only got to the NY game because Smith threw like Sammy Baugh in the win over the Saints. The Pats lucked into missed FG's, last second end zone defensive heroics and poor game planning by BAL. I think if we shift our focus in Chicago to O, good things will happen. 1. Games get a bit more exciting...higher scoring, etc. 2. We can become "Saint-like" in terms that even a bad defensive showing need not be a death knell. We can score in bunches and make a game out of any game. 3. Odds are, our "Bears-ness" come to play often enough. Let's face it, D is in our collective blood. it's like magic. Somehow, we always seem to have a decent D. We will have a changing of the guard in a few years, and I think, somehow, someway, we will land a great drafted player or 2 that become the next Url/Briggs/Mike Brown/etc... Like the Packers luck into QB's, we'll luck into defensive players. It'll interesting how Emery views this. I won't judge his overall views by this year's draft. Too much is already in place, and he's probably going to lean on staff already in place to give him a bit of direction to a large extent I imagine. However, once he gets a year under his belt, and sees things first hand, I think next year's draft and actions will speak volumes. Plus, I think the salary floor hits too...if I recall correctly.
  3. Gotcha. Although I don't see Avril going anywhere but Detroit.
  4. Even w/o the video, I think the right move was made given the options available. And I'm all in with Cutler. If he likes it, I like it.
  5. The Pats D wasn't that under-rated. They were not good. They had moments. But overall, they were not good. They just don't pass the smell test. I saw a ranking by points scored during the game that Collinsworth put up and they were in the middle of the pack at 15 I believe. The Giants did get hot at the right time. The right time is the playoffs. I would tend to agree that I'd be shocked if D isn't selected in the 1st 3 rounds, especially given that we have 2 3rds available.
  6. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...om-back-injury/ Johnny Knox faces long road to recovery from back injury Posted by Michael David Smith on February 8, 2012, 4:12 PM EST AP Bears receiver Johnny Knox cracked a facet joint in his spinal column when he was bent backward awkwardly during a December game against the Seahawks, and when initial reports said he would need 3-4 months to recover, that sounded like good news compared to how ugly the injury looked. But now comes word that the 3-4 months estimate may have been overly optimistic. When a fan asked Knox on Twitter last week whether he thinks he can play next season, Knox didn’t answer the question directly, saying only that he wants to get to 100 percent before he thinks about that. And Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com, citing multiple unnamed sources, reports that there’s doubt about Knox’s potential availability for 2012. According to Wright, Knox had a vertebral fusion and will have to wear a back brace for another month, and his timeline for recovery could be more than six months. For Knox, who hinted in a reply to another fan on Twitter that the injury nearly paralyzed him, getting his health back is the most important issue. For the Bears, it may be a long time before they know whether the man who emerged as their best wide receiver last year will be back in the fold at all in 2012.
  7. That's pretty much what I was thinking. Agreed, that you don't just ignore the D...and especially this season to get the most out of Peppers, we should get another pass rusher somehow...but it can be done in FA. I think the philosophy should change to reflect the modern game. You have the QB...focus on that!
  8. Agreed. Worth a look. Also, if the price is right...I'd take a gimpy McNeil over a healthy Omiyale any day.
  9. I basically agree. However, the key is Cutler. I think his window is 6 years. As long as you give him some offensive weapons, we can allow for a year or 2 of changing of the defensive guard among those 6 years in the middle. Run at it now for 2 seasons. Turnover the D for the next 2, and make one more push for the other 2. Just generally speaking....

  11. Say what you want about the Bears accountants, but I think Cliff Stein can handle the cap if we want to go all in.
  12. I agree. I love Forte, but he has his issues. And the biggest one is he can't pick up tough yards especially near the goal line. I think he's franchised.
  13. Who really knows what took so long getting Bates. The Bears like being secretive, so they could have been eyeing him the whole time. I still think we need s complimentary WR. I don't expect Knox to return, and don't expect a thing from Roy Williams. Whether that "complimentary" WR is a draft pick or a FA, I think we need something. It need not be a stud, just a good WR. I personally don't want to see Hester there unless it's just once in a while to go deep. He's not reliable enough. I want guys that Jay can rely on. Bennett is that guy though. Don't tell jason you don't think OL should be upgraded! I would like to see an upgrade to Webb. Or at least an attempt. At worse, we get a solid back-up that can send Omiyale to the unemployment line.
  14. Theme of the off-season should be: GIVE JAY WHAT HE WANTS! 1 stud WR 1 complimentary WR 1 improved OL And throw Smith a bone and get a pass rusher.
  15. Or Cutler comes back and we win the SB!
  16. Agreed. It'll be interesting how our new GM plays this...
  17. Interest in Bowe brings a huge smile to me and I'm sure many others!
  18. Seems like a good fit at this point for sure.
  19. A big knock on Barber is he is injury prone. That alone could make one think a RB should be taken at some point in the draft. The question is whether you go for a bruiser to compliment Forte, or a similar RB to Forte to spell him (replace him?).
  20. ...and some teams have WR's that go back and help a QB out.
  21. The commercial was going in chronological order...so Hester should only be towards the end, as he was. Fewell was in the running for our DC when he opted for NY instead and we went w/ Rod M.
  22. I know plenty of fellas who have! Have fun, but be safe!
