  1. 3. Martin's ultimate most grievous cheap shot get me riled up like no tomorrow!
  2. 3. Right on! (Rivalry: competition for the same objective or for superiority in the same field). I think it's still a legit rivalry. They just have been handing our asses to us for decades. I'm tired of it. But I've started to become numb to it. The losing that is. The hate is still there!
  3. 1. Solid points. I do hope, he has learned and will be better. Billicheck looked horrible in his first gig... Not going there, but it would be nice to finally get it right. 3. Detroit will never come close to how irritating GB is to me! It's like 1A vs F. I hate no other team in any other sport on earth more than I hate Green Bay! At some point, doesn't the pendulum have to swing the other way? I'm not expecting it to. But, I do want it to!
  4. The bad luck did weigh on the scale! But, it's just the entirety of it all. Thank you again!
  5. 1. Despite what I want, Eberflus is staying I believe. I simply don't think he has what it takes as a HC to get us to the promised land. 2. I'm fine with whatever Poles does at QB. Going JF1 or drafting a new guy. Poles has done well enough in his time here that I'm willing to let him do what he feels is best. As always, I reserve the right to disagree with it, if the moves proves incorrect. But, I'll damn well support whoever is under center next season. 3. Pardon my French, but F&*K I wanna beat GB so bad!!!! Sure, evidence points that we will lose for the 10th time in a row... But, dammit I want this! Cheers fellas!
  6. Hey man, I bowed out first! I've loved the league, but I'm not finding the time and love of the fantasy element these days. It was fun and everyone involved made it good! But, I'm ready to move on.
  7. It's nice to have relevant players again!
  8. I think Flus stays, but I don't agree with it. When you are at rock bottom, getting to medicocre shouldn't be applauded. Harbaugh will come into the Chargers and get them far. We will miss out on that. Like we missed out on Arians, etc. That said, I've come to terms with it. I'm still not buying any licensed product nor attending any games until I see 2 winning seasons in a row. I think Flus is Dick Jauron. Decent. Good guy. Can get a defense going. yet, clueless on offense or how to be a real HC in the modern NFL. This is regardless of what we do at QB.

I hear ya. But, the Asst. HC title and that he worked here before... It's better than the last crops of dolts hired!

How about S/T coach? The last one we hire had good results. Ditka. Looks at Harbaugh in Baltimore. Maybe we throw Dave Toub as a possibility?
  11. This! Nice guys make great friends...but rarely great leaders of men. His teams are not ready (see week 1, etc), they make a ton of unforced errors (false starts, etc), they rack up penalties (see the daily usage of Velus...), he doesn't come in with a good game plan (see Minny), he can't adapt in game (see Denver), he hires people of questionable character (see DC and RB coach), he hand;es the press worse than Selina Meyers' bag man in Veep (stammering, yammering), his vaunted defense has yet to beat anyone or play well against anyone that is remotely a good team (we shall nee...they are improved...but the proof will be in the pudding this Sunday). There's just too much. He's in over his head and doesn't give me any semblance of being on top of it. I wanted Daboll. Looks like he's a whiff too. But, fLose ain't it. We may get a wosre hire. We tend to do that. But, he's not it.
  12. Fools gold last week? This article below highlights what I thought I saw....JF1 looked great when man projection was on and struggled w zone in the second half. If the article is correct, every defense we face will go into zone and force JF1 to deal. I'll be curious how Thursday goes. https://www.dabearsblog.com/2023/reviewing-justin-fields-game-against-denver
  13. I also think going away form Jim McMahon and Wilbur Marshall impeded us severely.
  14. Very good points. I want a strong coach. Doesn't mean he has to be a yeller. Clint Eastwood is proof of that compared to Rowdy Roddy Piper. Both are strong. One's quiet, calm strength, the other all bravado. Both can work and be successful (Roddy was great in "They Live").
  15. Fair enough. We agree to disagree. Many other coaches had all the talent in the world and couldn't get the SB win. See early Elway w Dan Reeves, etc. We were in the playoffs virtually every year but his last. Again, if we lay blame at other coaches for sucking, he deserves some semblance of credit for not sucking. McMahon and others have talked badly of him. No doubt. He's no legend. He's not great. Maybe not even good. But, he deserves some credit for getting it done. Without him, we don't truly know if we would have won it. What I do know, is we did. And we did in such spectacular fashion that it's still considered one of the all time great teams. Not just great defenses. For accomplishing that win, I will forever be thankful. Could have been better w/ Buddy. Also, could have been worse. We will never know. All I know, is it's nice. I like it. And I like characters. Everyone involved in 85 virtually was a character. Ditka, Ryan, JImmy, Walter, Danimal, Singletary, Dent, Mongo, Otis, Wilbur, Gary, Fast Willie, Butler, Suhey... Those guys made it fun. There's nothing fun about the current Bears. Let me enjoy my nostalgia. :) If I'm pissy about our best season ever...why the F even care now?
  16. Spot on. Though Ditka deserves credit. Not accolades. But it was under his watch, If we blast jabronis like Eberflus, Trestmen, etc. Then we must be consistent and give credit. He was mediocre as a coach. But his personality instilled a level of respect by fear or something else...that worked. It was really Ryan, a healthy Jim McMahon, and the wonderful Walter Payton that won it all for us. But, he was part of it, a big part of it too. You couldn't be more right about the back offices! Finks, Vanissi, and Muggs would have been wonderful see play out... Ditka love grew with the SNL skit and other things. So it's become a lot of tall tales, so to speak. But, he does deserve credit. Out best coach ever was Halas. The next might be Lovie... That says a lot.
  17. I do agree. But I get it. Fans not only pay with hard earned dollars, but with passion, increased anger and stress levels. But, the players get paid. To be professionals and play. Even a league minimum salary would place me as the highest earner in my company. They have coaches, veteran players, psychologists, PR, etc to help these players out deal with morale. I have a bottle of Lagavulin. DJ Moore hasn't been here long enough to understand the decades of frustration. Also, he or others should know, the booing isn't all on the players. It's really on the coaching, management, and ownership. It's one of the very few venues a fan can express dissatisfaction with a team. I just hope they aren't a-holes about it, which we know some can be. It's part of the deal. You want cheers, play well. You don't want boos, play well. At least play hard and smart. This town has supported effort and drive w/o results. You can see it. But when Claypool is out there doing jack S&*^, not caring, being dumb, fans can rightfully boo. But, whatever you were subjected to that rose to the level of a potential physical altercation seems way out of line.
  18. FYI - I almost put fans down! But I ultimately thought they were justified being negative creeps (anyone catch the Nirvana reference there?)
  19. Ha! While I do think there are a ton of crappy fans (we aren't alone...every single franchise has 'em...some more than others), I think there is some justification. We've been mediocre to awful for like 20 years. I personally can't understand going to a game and not trying to enjoy it. And if you're not, leave. Or just don't go to the game. People that go to the games and are that negative need to simply not go, or just sell their tickets if they can't enjoy it. Life is too short to spend upwards of a grand on going to a gem with one's family and not have some fun. Hell, at minimum, I'd just wander Soldier and look at the history. This current iteration makes me numb, but seeing history of Walter or Butkus will always put a smile on my face.
  20. You guys all made great and valid points here after going through all the posts... I think the answer is kind of "all of the above." Seem to me it's: 1. (GM) We keep drafting the wrong guys. For all the, it's the coach, it's the GM, it's the ownership...all of that noise goes away if we draft the correct players. (or get the correct FA's for that matter). This is intrinsically on the GM. Who is out bet drafted player right now by the current regime? I'd maybe say Wright. Brisker had flashes, Gordon is MIA, our 2 DT's are fair. Stevenson has some flashes. Bottom line, we don't have a star. In the trade, we did get Moore. He is our only legit "Superstar". Our GM can make trades w draft picks. Maybe he just can't pick well? We all know through the posts here who he missed out on taking Velus, etc instead. 2. (GM and Ownership) We keep hiring the wrong coach. From missing out on Dave McGinnis to Arians, to Daboll (besides Lovie), we've whiffed every single time. We always seem to hire the "nice" guy. I think the McCaskey's didn't like Ditka, so everything now has to be polar opposite. Except, it doesn't seem to be working. I think McCaskey keeps feeding the GM, you must hire A, B or C, and better not hire D, or you'll not get hired or lose your job. But, if the GM really wanted to keep his job, he'd hire a good coach no matter the demeanor. So, blame goes to both GM and Ownership. 3. (HC) In game, a lot goes to blame on the HC. He picked his coordinators, etc. He's game planned or not game planned as it would appear often. We constantly have tiddywinks players vs Gary Kasperov in chess. Our coaching is historically and epically horrific since Lovie. AD (After Ditka), at least Wanny has pedigree, Jauron was an ample defensive guy. After Smith...oh man. Just a cavalcade of rotten. 4. (Players) Once you get to the Bears, guys seem to now want to suck as they continue on. Fun and flashy rookie turn into mistake prone whiners complaining that they don't like fans booing because the team sucks. Tremaine Edmunds looked strong in Buffalo. Comes here and makes rookie errors every Sunday. I don't care that the DL sucks...do your job. Allow the first because you have no choice. Don't F up and allow a TD. That's pretty much it. It's everything and all at once. Maybe Warren is the difference. With Sweaty Teddy, we know it'll be rinse repeat. With Warren, I still think it'll be rinse repeat. But, there's a chance it won't. We as a fan base have been burned too many times, too often, and too consecutively to not fear the worst when it comes to this franchise. Until proven otherwise, I'm going to assume more of the same.
