  1. Why to I submit myself to this? There are just better things to do with one's Sunday than this...
  2. Let's somehow get the banks to block that wire transfer to the refs...some old Al Capone connections or something. Let's blast that OL. Let's play smart in the secondary one time like Mike Brown was still back there... Let's let Fields just do his thing as plays break down. Then, I'll wake up from the dream and see that the resslts are probably going what you said, jason. But, I'm going to take a bizarre U-Turn. Let's sit back and just enjoy this one. If GB beats us, so be it. it just means we aren't good enough. No need being upset or angry. It is what it is. Only during Smith's tenure around the SB were we the better team. It's been a while. I doubt that baton gets passed today. Let's relish the idea that we have one last shot at stopping Rodgers before he's no longer a Packer. Sure, if he plays for another team and visits, we want him to lose. But there will be less desire for ill will than before. Let's enjoy yelling at him to throw that pick or get sacked. If he does well, then so be it. He's a talented player. We didn't deserve it. But more than anything...I really want to see some good plays out of Justin. Give us some hope to hold onto. Make it fun, kid. Make us proud to be Bears fans. It's a heavy burden. But, this young man, I think is up to the task. No matter what happens, he should learn from this game. Now let's F'ing BEAR THE F DOWN!
  3. Oh I remember. At least that was somewhat in the heat of battle and Payton braced himself. What happened to McMahon was the epitome of cheap shot.
  4. THIS! THIS! THIS! My pure unadulterated hatred for the Packers stems 100% from that one single event. I am beyond convinced that cost us multiple Super Bowls... And in return, the football gods give them Favre and Rodgers. We aren't owed it. We need to f'ing take it.
  5. The Raiders seems off yesterday. It was a shorter week, the Gruden email stuff, etc. They were riper for the pickens than they were against the Chargers I think. Thanks for correcting my on Grant! I must've forgotten those due to fine gin and tonics I was consuming during the game! I think Desai should get huge credit. I kind of glossed over that because of the "defensive grade" I think that would change my grade more to a B-. I love the win, I like what I'm seeing from Desai. Lazor is an upgrade. But Nagy should still be fired as season's end. He's not it.
  6. Far easier to get blown out...like I did!
  7. I have been burned by GB far too often to think anything other than getting blown out by them will be the case. I would just like to see some progression with Fields. Rodgers will carve us up as he usually does.
  8. I don't think the Bears remotely thought they'd get Fields. Dalton was just going to be the starter. Maybe pull the trigger on a late round QB and wait and see. Fields changed everything.
  9. Great analysis Adam. I'm going for a broader brush stroke for grades... I thought the Offense got a C+. They didn't do much except early on. Fields made critical 3rd down plays when we needed them most at the end. Scoring just 20 points against a team struggling like the Raiders did yesterday is not swell. A really strong team would easily come back and snatch victory from us like has happened many times before in the past. Especially w/ GB. Running game was solid. Herbert is a pleasant surprise and pack for "urgency" in hi play than Williams. However, these 2 guys couldn't pick up hard short yards if their lives depended on it. This is where we miss Monty. Maybe this is where you give the ball to Nall? Or even Horsted? We need power. Defense eared a solid A. Your points above say it all.. Basically, if you hold a professional team under 10, that's a damn A. Special Teams gets an A- The kicking game gets an A+, but the return game wasn't as great as I was hoping from the new guy. Work in progress. Coaching gets a C. This staff shouldn't be judged on a curve. It was light years better than the first 3 weeks, but getting 20 points isn't good enough. It's acceptable. Average. Too conservative. Tried running up the guy on short yardage w/ back who couldn't do it. They need to do that w/ Monty, but not with any of the other guys. Again, evidence of lack of adaptation to your players' skills. Overall grade average is a B. Like old Bears football. Strong running, strong D, solid specials, suspect coaching. Fields will be the x factor. Without some of his late 3rd down conversions, the defense was either gonna get gassed for a cheap one or have to do something epic. I'm excited to see him grow and progress and become a real factor.
  10. Solid points. We got into mega-conservative mode yet again in the second half of a game. Played "not to lose". I don't like that. Shows fear.
  11. The appropriate glassware for a neat whisky!
  12. Ha! Big CHEERS to all of you! We will celebrate for Justin!
  13. Well put. The big plus is we saw what we were hoping we'd see from Fields.
  14. It won't his ego is too big to just let it be and admit guilt. At some point, when we start seeing some potentially continued success, he'll take it back just like he did last year. And do you really want a HC, where daddy GM has to continually tell him to give up play calling? This isn't the guy to lead us to the promised land.
  15. Here's the response ( I blacked out his signature ...) .
  16. Here's my original letter: Mr. George McCaskey Chicago Bears Halas Hall 1920 Football Dr. Lake Forest, IL 60045 January 13, 2021 Dear Mr. George McCaskey, I am a longtime fan of the Chicago Bears and currently am on the waiting list for season tickets (ID# xxxxxxx). I am currently 50 years old and have been a fan for as long as I can remember. My father passed his love of the team down to me. My father even went to college with the great Dick Butkus. My dad sat me down at a very young age in the mid 70’s and asked that I watch Walter Payton run. I did. And my life was forever changed. I watched some very bad years. I also watched some great ones. Including the best of all time, 1985. I’ve read countless books on the great Papa Bear and others throughout Bears history to gain a greater appreciation of the team. All my years as a fan, I’ve never written the club. After today’s press conference, I am compelled to do so. I have watched this team regress over the period of three years. I watched GM, Ryan Pace, draft poorly in the first round. I watched Mr. Pace give up a tremendous amount of draft capital for players who aren’t performing. I watched Mr. Pace promise me that he’d draft a quarterback every season. He has not. I watched Coach Matt Nagy not groom a young quarterback. I watched Coach Nagy tell me the team should run more, when he is the one making the call on how often to run. This is the Bears. We run the ball. I watched coach Nagy give up play-calling and see some success with Coach Bill Lazor. Then, I watched coach Nagy take the play-calling back, which resulted in some less than stellar performances against our most bitter rivals, the Packers and the Saints. I was truly hoping your press conference today would allow the fan-base to get a fresh start. Instead, we are getting more of the same. A trajectory that seems more regressive than progressive. To say I am disappointed is an under statement. While I respect what Mr. Pace and Mr. Nagy have done, they simply have not done enough. One winning season out of three is not what this team should be striving for. Sadly, watching more of the same from these two men is leading me down a path of apathy. My passion has simply been put on hold. I simply do not trust these men to lead the team. They need to regain my trust to gain my passion. I just do not see that happening after what I’ve seen for three years with Coach Nagy and longer with Mr. Pace. I currently live near Los Angeles, so I have to subscribe to the Direct Ticket in order to watch all the Bears games. I’ve been doing this since about 2004. This season, I am planning on cancelling that as I feel the cost of the Ticket will not be worth the product on the field. I will still watch what I can from the national games for the Bears and still root the players on. But, the questionable leadership from Mr. Pace and Mr. Nagy leave me with no other choice. I am hoping the Bears can again become a team to be reckoned within the next few years. But, I feel this coming season at minimum will not be worth expending much energy on. I will someday be a season ticket holder, and will take that responsibility to heart. I will attend games and root my team on. The Bears are in my blood. The Bears feel s like family. But, like family, sometimes tough love is needed. Now is that time. My parents and fellow Bears fans that I am in communication with feel the same way. Please consider a large chunk of your fan-base as unhappy with the lack of accountability from the head coach and GM, and we eagerly await candidates to fill those roles that are better suited for the job. Thank you very much for your time. My best wishes to your wonderful mother and matriarch of the Bears. Stay safe and healthy. Bear down. Sincerely,
  17. Spot on! I doubt Nagy and his band of clowns could take a pro bowl roster and make his "scheme" (Aka - collection of plays that don't build off anything) work.
  18. It needed to be reasonable. Ted's not going anywhere. Especially with a new stadium in the works potentially. I want him gone, but there's no way Georgie does that.
