With our limited picks, Poles will wait to see cuts from other teams after the draft. Hopefully, the FAs available will match our needs to fill any holes needed until we finish the roster rebuilding process next year. If we have any less than 10 wins next year I will be disappointed. I read the Bleacher Report often and found this article interesting. I still suspect it will be a difficult contract negotiation. I was surprised by the last paragraph of the article (see below). Although I hope the author's viewpoint is correct, I think it is presumptive. CW, make it so!

Personally, I wouldn't. Maybe our #9 and our 2nd from next year - which will hopefully be around pick #64 ? I love Nabers and RO as much as Harrison. All three have the potential to be future Pro Bowlers and top-five WRs.

NO! LOL Statistically, yes. Anyone looking at the in-depth game stats will see an improvement in the number of sacks/hits/pressures allowed. However, stats can be misleading. Remember when, according to the 'stats,' Leno was a top-tier OLT instead of a turnstile for any speed rusher opposite him? While having CW on our side will undoubtedly make life easier for the OL, it's crucial for them to demonstrate their potential and strive to be a top-10 OL. This is the key to unlocking the full explosive potential of our offense, which we all eagerly anticipate.

I value Spielman's opinions. I was sorry he left the Bears, but he deserved his promotion. I have also always enjoyed listening to Greg Gabriel. I'm not a big Wannsted fan, but I love hearing what Charles Davis says. So we all (except for PHX?).) have our favorite professionals to read/listen to for their opinions. But, as you noted, you are not claiming they are right; you just value their opinion. The same is true here.

I just saw this proposed trade on NFL.com as one of three possible round 1 trades that would be a win/win for teams involved. This one had Chicago trading #9 to KCC. I personally do not like the deal. The first, being the last pick of rd 1, and he second rounder, again near the bottom of round 2, are not much better than a 2nd & 3rd instead of a 1st & 2nd. The extra 4th round is cool, but the 2025 #1 will probably be near the end of round 1. What do you guys think? Would you do this trade?

I'm noticing some recent mock drafts showing the Bears trading down and then drafting JC Latham (Alabama · OT). Is he a blue-chip OT? I don't know the guy. On a side note, the last one I saw with this trade-down scenario pissed me off because they had us trading down with the Colts, who then selected Nabers at #9. If the Bears passed on Nabers I'd be pissed.

Anthony Thomas was the last Bear player to be named OROY (in 2001). After 23 years, Caleb Williams wins OROY. The runner-up to CW for OROY is Rome Odunze, WR, Chicago Bears. One can only dream. ?

Just saw this article on NFL.com. I have always thought highly of Charles David as an analyst for NFL.com. He has had success identifying players who are not as well known as the ones getting all of the hype, but wind up being drafted and making rosters. This article identifies 16 prospects that he thinks could be drafted on day 2 or 3 of the draft. The only one I recognized was QB Rattler. I watched film on the top three and I seriously am not sure the order I would select them. They are all fantastic, each with their own strengths. If either one of the three are there at 9, I would be disappointed if we did not stay put and draft him. That said, I'd get over my disappointment if we wound up with Thomas. LOL

True. But I first responded to a 'what if' draft. He had multiple trade-backs, accumulating extra picks. Therefore, I thought picking a Punter over a player who would probably not contribute this year would be best. The pick, #122, was the last of the picks he had accumulated with the trade downs. It was for that specific scenario that I suggested using it for a punter. I don't advocate drafting a punter unless we have accumulated extra draft capital. There will always be UDFA punters to bring in for tryouts.

This is an extremely talented group of receivers who are available in this year's draft. I love MHJ, but Nabers and R.O. are also going to be pro bowl-caliber WRs. We could trade down, pick up B Thomas, and not miss a beat. The guy is awesome. I guess what I am saying is hell no, don't give up draft capital to select one of the top three. Let one of them fall to us, or trade back to mid-first and select Thomas.

You mean like Ray Guy of Oakland drafted #23, round one, in 1973 and played his entire career, 14 seasons, for the Raiders? LOL - Okay, I understand your point. But if we wound up with let's say 8 picks instead of 4 because of multiple trade downs, and it was a choice between selecting a practice squad player that might a year or two down the road make it to the playing field, or selecting a punter who can, from day one, help us gain better field position, I choose the punter every time.

If we only had 4 picks, of course, it's 'crazy talk.' In a scenario where multiple trade-downs result in a surplus of picks, I believe it's a strategic move to consider adding a top punter to our special teams. I hold a strong belief that special teams play will be crucial this year, especially with the increased significance of kickoff returns. Mark my words, there will be multiple games where ST play will be the decisive factor in the outcome of the game.

I'd love it if this happened. The problem with fan drafts involving trades is that they seldom happen. We'd like to believe that the team we have lined up a trade with would accept our offer, but the likelihood, ???? Still, the trade scenarios were reasonable and the players selected would be awesome additions to the team. The only change I would have made is to take pick 122 and draft Punter Tory Taylor from Iowa. At 6'4" 234 lbs, the guy is a stud kicker with power. I think his addition would be far more beneficial to the Bears than a blocking TE prospect. There is a fine-looking crop of Punters this year. If we had the roster from 3 years ago, Poles would be trading the pick, not drafting Williams. Fortunately, Poles has done an amazing job improving the Bears to the point where we can support a rookie QB. We just need to be patient for one more year while Poles gets us ready to be contenders.

With so many teams dealing with salary cap issues. With so many edge rushers being drafted on cheap rookie deals. Will there be some surprise cuts of veteran edge rushers for post-draft free agency? I wouldn't be surprised if Poles is already researching the players who might become available.

The Athletic is by far my favorite site to visit, and "The Beast" is an awesome publication for subscribers. It's the best draft guide available, IMO.

At this point, it would take Washington's incredibly rich trade offer to convince Poles to trade down. If they offered something completely crazy such as this, I'd trade: This year's 1st & both 2nd round picks, along with their 1st rd selections for 2025 & 2026. I believe it would take something that crazy for Poles to trade the #1.
