  1. I think the experience with Pace and the fact that even if he had anything left in his tank it would be a band-aid at most is the reason JA did not go for him. There are already a lot of players being cut by teams. I think the Bears will wait until a younger player with some promise shows up before they pull the trigger.
  2. Exactly. All the owners want to do is shift some of the money that would be paid rookies to the vets. (These figures are TOTALLY for example only, not real) If the owners are now giving 10 percent of the salary cap to rookies and 90 percent to the vets, they are looking to give 5 percent to the rookies and 95 percent to the vets. (all imaginary numbers) That should make the vets happy. Rookies still get a huge payday when you consider they have proved nothing and still getting millions of dollars. Owners are happy because they are not throwing away so much money on unproven rookies that may never play a down in the NFL.
  3. Seems like he will be at a reasonable price, I found this while searching:
  4. Maybe you are right. Maybe JW was the only LB CAR would take in the trade. I know we are too heavy at LB with Pisa coming back. I just wish it could have been Roach or McClover. I can't say I like either of them better than JW.
  5. I am not so sure. I thought JW looked pretty darn good. CH I believe is a SS. I would be happier if he were a top notch FS.
  6. I kinda have to laugh. When we drafted Harris everyone thought it was a good pick. The first year he played pretty good. The second year he got burned a few times. The Bears traded him and EVERYONE in the forum thought we got a good deal and were happy he was gone. Then he plays well in Carolina and everyone is pissed JA traded away a good player. Now what will the reaction be if this is true?

A 2010-2011 Super Bowl Ring of course!
  8. Yes we will, pick number 32 of the first round.

What if they sign him to a deal that would allow us to bring him in and try him out during mini camps and then decide later to keep him or cut bait before the season starts? A reasonable deal with a good size bonus if he makes the final roster would be a win/win situation.
  10. Jason, I disagree. If you do not like JA & LS fine. But the idea they drafted an OT in the 7th for the reason you list is IMO way out there and wrong. They were drafting players at each spot they felt had a chance to contribute now or in the future. Obviously you do not expect a 7th rounder to contribute immediately although it has certainly happened in the past, even on the Bears. However, I am sure intrigued with the massive size of this guy and the reports I have read.

I agree, if he shows up big time on special teams then it may be time to let R Davis go.

Hey Parker, are the Bronco Fans buying into the Tebow hype? I personally see a BIG BUST coming. I do not think he will be anything more than a backup Qb along the lines of a Rex Grossman.
  13. Good Points. Damn, before I did not care. Now I will be disappointed if we do not sign him. Shame on you!
  14. I agree. Unless there is an underlying reason (he was plying injured but is now healthy) I would pass. We do not need another O Pace to cut next year.

When you get to the 6th and 7th round the chances of them even making the team is huge. Sure, it happens, but the chances??? I was surprised by the QB pick but if they felt that he was the highest graded player on the board at the time, why not give it a roll? I liked the first 3 picks. I am hopeful that the OL with Tice as the OL Coach and the emergence of Chris Williams allowing other players to return to their better positions will allow our OL to be much improved. Also remember, once the draft is over, the Bears and other teams will be looking at not only a lot of undrafted free agents but will be looking to fill any remaining questions on their rosters with FAs that remain out on the market. I also suspect there will be more players that become available this summer.
  16. Scheffler, Burleson, and CJ have all three been injury prone. If they are all healthy and on the field together they may see an upgrade, but that is a BIG IF.
  17. He was asked to block in passing situations 152 times, led the league in this category. Just as a defense can not be expected to rate high if on the field 65% of the clock, a teams DBs cannot be expected to have good stats if there is no pass rush and they have to cover their man for 5 seconds, now you have Forte with that many reps as a blocker in the backfield, I do not think Forte did that bad a job.
  18. Not so sure about that. Quinn has a much stronger arm and can take advantage of the speed of Royal who disappeared with Orton at QB. It could be very interesting to see what happens.

Want to relocate? I will trade you homes! LOL (I live in IL next to the WI line )
  20. From an article on the Bears Official Website giving Q&A with MM :
  21. Yep, it sucked, and although I enjoyed seeing them again, and I am sure they got paid well for doing it, it was indeed an embarrassment IMO for a Bears fan to watch.
  22. Pixote replied to Uncle Buck's topic in Bearstalk
He has not done anything since? It has been well documented here on the forum how he improved the offense everywhere he has been since STL. I do not feel like repeating what already has been said. Maybe this team presented on a silver platter in STL would have been the greatest team stuck in mud if he hadn't been the OC?
  23. Pixote replied to Uncle Buck's topic in Bearstalk
So from what you are saying the OC is useless baggage, if given the right personnel, it will click and be successful no matter who the OC is. No need to develop that talent. No need to develop a playbook, teach it, implement it, call plays during the game, make game time adjustments, etc... Hell, from what you are saying they could have brought in Lovie's son as OC in STL and they would have done just as good, would have still been the "greatest show on turf" because he would have had it handed to him on a silver platter. Hogwash!
  24. To bring in a WR he had better be YOUNG and DAMN GOOD or otherwise, forget it, I do not want to cut back on playing time for DA, Knox, or Bennett. Hester I like but if he truly wants to concentrate more on returning KOs & Punts, then so be it. Then we still have to see what Iglasis has to offer.
