  1. fair. i didnt mean to pick on your word earlier, just to expand on it. And youre right too.
  2. Ive said it many times. There is NOTHING wrong with running and extra curricular stuff. In fact its an amazing bonus that really helps QBs. The other QBs you mention can ALSO stand in the pocket, read a defense and get the ball out so that the receivers get the ball when their routes break. Thats when its supposed to arrive. That's how the plays work. I LOVE Fields' running. I LOVE how good he is at hero ball. He is AMAZING at it. Please hear me. But until he can ALSO do the fundamental things that are necessary to executing passing plays as they are drawn up, from the pocket, he will be able to overwhelm lesser teams and make highlights but we will never be a playoff winning team. Please understand. Fields is AWESOME, he can do everything at a high level except execute the offense. And that's a real problem. Those other QBs dont have that problem.
  3. perfection? LOL and I havent even been using stats at all - in fact Ive said Fields stats are deceptively good. The guy just doesnt execute the plays past the scripted openers. He just doesnt. Game in and game out. Ive described it, and diagrammed it, and I hope to God the GM and Warren are seeing it too. Certainly the pundits say it too. They make an opinion about balancing the importance of it vs sheer talent, and thats a valid question, good people can authentically be on either side of that debate. But you cant say Fields is throwing in rhythm and reading the plays. He isn't. Again. And that IS the core skill of the QB position. Fields is an exciting player, and he can overwhelm lesser teams with his hero ball. Like this big run we just saw. If he could just throw the ball reliably out of the pocket, all this extra stuff would make him one of the best QBs in the league. But perfection? No. He isnt even doing it 50% of the plays where he is called to. Not even 20%.
  4. to be fair, Weissbier is best on draft yeah, I want to win meaningful games that help us.
  5. you see on that 3rd down an unsound trick defense that predicted Fields perfectly. Ill wait for the all 22 to be sure, but there had to be someone open on that play, because it wasnt a sound defense, but they knew exactly what Fields would do, and not be able to do. The league has a book on Fields now. It's over.
  6. I dunno, i think Fields usually does well freelancing, and poorly in rhythm. Getsy calls screens that don't work. Good performance in the first drive and a half, bad after that. That is all incredibly consistent week to week. I think it's really easy to measure honestly. It is always the same. I understood your use of the word inconsistent meant making first downs, so Im not disagreeing, I just thought it should be said that in fact, they are incredibly consistent.
  7. the announcer says "I want it half a beat sooner" as we see Fields patting the ball in slow motion. The pat takes... half a beat.
  8. Billings is also a monster, and Dexter is coming along. Our DLine rotation is looking pretty good.
  9. mostly inconsistent because they are good on the first drive or two in every game - the scripted plays. other than that, it's generally awful, .interspersed with amazing highlight hero ball plays and no read plays like rollouts and screens with pre-programmed reads.
  10. too low to Mooney and then what is that body language by Fields rolling his eyes etc after the play? it's third down, wheres the leadership?? That's awful.
  11. on that big run, Fields had a WR streaking across the middle wide open and didnt find him.
  12. Right, and we are past the scripted plays where you can drill the reads all week too. So now we see who we are. Not that the Cardinals are so good on defense anyway...
  13. Nice! What kind of trade down could we get to go from #5 to say, somewhere above #13?
  14. Gill is all over the place. Thats almost worse than just not having a lot of power in your leg.
  15. what hes wrong about is that hes saying we here on the board look to criticize Fields unfairly. He is saying that we take things out of context to blame him unfairly. But I havent seen much of anyone attacking Fields on stats. I've been talking about reading defenses and they dont keep a number on that. Im talking about plays where Fields has guys open and doesnt pull the trigger. If we are running more that doesnt affect that, so the snide comment makes no actual sense. It's just like he's taking criticisms of Fields personally. It wasnt a comment he was making about Fields or even answering a specific criticism, it was just a fighty, sarcastic personal attack on the character of people on the board. It's a small thing, but for many years they were aimed at me by name, and after a while and hundreds of them they build up to become very childish and unpleasant not to mention disrespectful. On pretty much every post I make about Fields, I also say he is one of the best broken play QBs of all time. I routinely say that if he added reading defenses, hed be one of the best QBs in the league. I talk about his athletic skills, and his personality. He's likeable. Ive said all that dozens of times. I've even said you can beat lesser teams with hero ball. I just wish we could keep the debate to the players and such and not to the character of members of the board. Last thing Ill say about this: I ramped up obvious over the top personal attacks against this stuff on purpose so that we would finally be told to all stop. If it seems ironic that im calling for no personal attacks, maybe that helps explain it.
  16. That was the most in rhythm throw from Fields maybe ever. The ball was out FAST. Nice.
  17. fully agree! Im only saying if the new coaches want them. What youre saying here is 100% right.
  18. he's had a couple ofgood passes from the pocket, and a few more he was late on. DJ Moore on the play he was injured on, and a nice timing throw to Kmet on the left sideline (not the long pass) were the two examples I saw. They were both in the first drive scripted pre-digested plays though. I am looking forward to more of them - they are so valuable.
  19. are there many precedents for keeping position coaches thru a staff change? I seem to remember some when Lovie left. Does anyone know if its common at all?
