I dunno if some of them overlap and share the same sack, but yes, I think it will be very difficult to block everyone on our DL. If we had this defense and John Fox running the ball 70% of the time we'd sure win a lot of games. If Nagy can put up points with a high powwered offense, we are a possible SB contender, but I'll need to see it on the field before I actually believe anything like that. But the defense? Hell yes it will be nasty.

Stinger, I TOTALLY agree the roster is much better! And I think the defense has the possibility to be the best in the NFL. I wasnt rebutting you so much as expanding on what you said. Quinn is a really important piece. Nasty front indeed, with Fuller and Ejack behind them. Look out.

IF we can protect the QB, and IF we call a balanced game plan, and dont abandon the run, we do seem to have the talent to be a playoff contender. But many years the Yankees outspend the rest of MLB, and still fail to create a "team" so, we'll see. I hope they do come together, but after all we've been through, I'll believe it when I see it. If the OL still cant open holes or protect the QB the rest wont matter.

agree, agree, agree. Additionally, some all time great defenders were angry, chaotic and destruction oriented. If he takes it out on his opponent on the field, great. If he takes it out on a woman or a sportscar, much less great.

He is a future star. Heck hes a star right now, and we may just not fully realize it yet. I still wish I knew what happened last year, but with all luck, we will never know or hear of it again.

So I think I, and many others, were right that Nagy was way too permissive last year, and maybe now with his back against the wall, he will build a tougher team. I would like nothing more than to be discussing how Nagy learned and became and amazing coach for us, this time next year.

that could well be true. Nagy gets next year to prove us wrong, or grow and prove us wrong, and I sure hope he does, but I think theres a good chance you are right.

he's been a consistent Pro Bowler - they just couldnt afford him, and took a rookie to replace him. If we can swing it, he should be a major addition to our running game.

oh no doubt. Just because I have deep psychological issues about Leno doesnt mean that I think the rest of the line is good! lol We need to be able to move people in the running game. And we need to call running plays. Ifedi will already be an upgrade, and if we can land Warford, that would help a lot too. Leno's problems dont make those positions any better last year for sure. They need help in their own right. ANd Im glad Pace is making those moves. But I really dont see how any of it matters if Leno plays like he did last year. I am still in disbelief that it hasnt been addressed in a strong way (unless they have more faith in Spriggs than I do). I do apologize for being a broken record about it, but sheesh.

nah. I need someone who can actually replace him and be an upgrade. If Spriggs or Bars is that guy, then I dont need Leno to get hurt, I just need the coaches to see it. On a team with a pretty deep roster, this is a bad achilles heel to have.

I like what it does for the run game. I still wish we had more than Spriggs to challenge at left tackle, but Warford could help a lot at guard and in the running game especially.

it begs the question of whether having the training wheels in the first place even helped. The dance parties etc - these are pro athletes, they are hyper competitive. Push their buttons and get the most out of them, and stop trying to make it easy for them. Bill Parcells knew how to get the most from his players, and it wasnt a dance party. You're right. This could be exactly what Trubisky needs. And he either does, or does not. There is no try.

I was calling for Nagy's head at the end of last year with this exact same logic. Nagy WILL get this season (or at least the first half of it) to prove me wrong. It is possible that his offense is the way of the future and will be incredible with the right QB. But not calling run plays is a problem no matter what offense you employ. And that's not all on Leno or Trubisky. So Nagy will get his chance, and no one will be happier than me to see him succeed. But Im not gonna predict it. I need to see it. This defense will be nasty, and you're right, and average offense should get us to the playoffs. And if Nagy cant field an average offense, and wont let go of the OC position, then he can go try somewhere else. One wonders if that is what happens whether Pace makes it to next year. Personally, I like Pace more than I dislike him, but he and Nagy are both probably on the hot seat.
