Leno Released
I just hope we have a pass rush again with Goldman back. I need to see Mack get back to form, and someone has to get pressure from the other side. There is reason for optimism, but I want to see it on the field.

Leno Released
you're totally right, and whatever mistakes Jenkins makes won't be more than Leno would have made. So keeping him doesn't really buy you anything I guess. I do admit I was surprised they were this bold. Glad to see it. A little late, but glad to see it. I can say this: this team will be fun to watch. There will be lots of stories and developments to follow. I wonder if the defense is going to wake up with Goldman back, and an offense that should score enough to make the games worth fighting for.

Leno Released
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES I agree Jenkins may not be ready, but perhaps this year is the graduate school he will need, even if it comes at a cost. As Stinger said, this is an ascending player. I gotta say this sure feels like Nagy and Pace feel like they can build and not "win now" I do fault them for seeing this a year (or two) late though. If you watched his tape, rather than just the games, you see he was ALL over the place. Not just getting beat, but consistently blocking the wrong man. That's stuff pee wee players can do. He was a huge part of the overall problem with this team. And yet I am surprised they did it this quickly. If they get a guy like Fisher to come in, that'd be great. But you know what? If they put Jenkins in there day one, and he makes a few mistakes, hell, Leno was making lots them too. I bet Jenkins, rookie mistakes and all, will be an instant upgrade.

UDFA Tracker
It seems to vary by year too. Some years it is as high as 30% https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1641528-where-does-nfl-talent-come-from I guess the point is that even 1st rounders are a gamble, but half the players in the league come from rounds 1 and 2 and the rest are lower, with over half of those undrafted.

2021 NFL Draft thoughts
As long as they have competition for Leno, Im happy. Leno gets replaced when the new guy is better than he is. THat can happen a few ways, but we dont have to watch him destruct and stay with him.

Day 3 Best Available
coverage guy. tough sure tackler who struggles with change of direction and backpedal LOL "run as fast as you can down the field and knock the crap out of the returner"

Day 3 Best Available
Moses had an ACL tear, maybe his medical isnt very good?

Day 3 Best Available
yes and speedy gadget player.

Day 3 Best Available
> Bears trade Seattle for picks 217 and 250 Nice. I guess that OT was falling, and we sure don't need him now.
-
Day 3 Best Available
I agree. I think they are covering permutations to coach them up and see what they can do. When someone can push Leno out, everyone moves up one slot

Day 3 Best Available
I dont think he is a LT, probably a G or a swing backup.
-
Justin Fields' Demeanor
Hard to say, since we just took Borom, who is probably a guard or a swing backup. That says they arent loving their current depth. Or maybe just creating more competition at OL.

Justin Fields' Demeanor
I agree, we are not that far away, and maybe the defense returns to form with Goldman back? There are a lot of reasons to be excited about this team, but I have learned from doing this too many times in May. I will wait to see it on the field!

So The Bears Finally Picked A Player That Has A Chip On His Shoulder
Ah, found this from an article about Fields' press conference: (7) Fields agrees with what his college coach, Ohio State's Ryan Day, told the media Friday about how the quarterback "burns hot on the inside" but rarely shows that emotion. "Coach Day, he's one of the coaches that knows me best, so he's definitely right about that one," Fields said. "I think the even keeled-ness comes from just me being in so many experiences involving sports situations in my life. I've played up to four sports growing up. "So just failing at different sports, I've always tried to stay even-keeled, tried to keep my body language neutral. So I think that's just where that comes from. My dad has harped on it from when I was a little kid, just to make sure I have good body language. No matter how I'm feeling, just try not to let others see it." I hope we don't misunderstand him and think he is a "Cutler" because I think there is a lot going on in his head, and he chooses to remain super steady. Reminds me of Joe Montana that way. He didn't come across as sullen, but he was just super steady. I met him once, and I have to say that Montana was the most boring person I've ever met. So much so that i think it was a strength. The entire world could be in flames, with everything on the line, and he would just calmly say "OK, let's go save the word, ok? You go do this, I'll do this, and then we can go get a coke." LOL Fields' demeanor will be new, but i don't need my QB to tap dance or sell me insurance. Just win baby

I thought the same about Field's demeanor, until I started watching interviews with him after big wins. He was the same. I think he's just an intense guy, and we shouldn't read body language on draft day out of that context. That said, he might ALWAYS have a chip on his shoulder all the time. And that's even better than a blip of emotion on draft day!

thanks for the clarification - I had thought we got back a 4th in this trade. Guess not. Still, we got two quality prospects, and maybe he will hit on a long shot from the 5th rounder etc.

hmmm, I guess Jenkins is a stud and worth it, but too bad we cant snag one more OT, WR or CB until the 4th round.
