  1. Yeah he is like a corporate HR coach. Maybe this is a problem that goes all the way to ownership? Maybe they wont hire a guy who has fire? I dunno. I agree 100% - this is the most important thing this year, and it was great to see a QB who is a winner. He did that with pure strength of will. The great ones can do that, and i think we have one in training.
  2. yeah, and that is head coach stuff. Like timeouts, challenges, going for it on 4th and 1, and even the ability to veto trick plays like using Kramer as a ballcarrier. So Flus is failing in situational fooball AND general motivation and discipline. I dont think he is a total joke though, hes a pro, I just think he's a bottom 10ish head coach, and we could find someone who is better.
  3. I agree with this, but Flus keeps making basic errors - how many times has he gone for it on 4th and short on his own side of the 50 when it wasnt necessary - early in the game, not down by a lot? He lost several games we should have won last year in spectacular fashion by poor coaching at the end, and in some ways i think you can hang this one on him too - although its a miracle and to Caleb's credit that we were even winning at all for that hail mary to matter. I cant say hes the worst coach ever, and I dont think we can fire him right now anyway, but he is definitely a lost opportunity for a good or great coach to give us an edge in winning. Id like to see someone brought in for the OL. The players have consistently had a tough time knowing their assignments, and it doesnt really make sense as to why unless Morgan is just a horrible teacher.
  4. hes a real competitor, and this loss is likely to help him find an even more competitive version of himself. And hes clearly got that 4th quarter will to win thing the champions all have. I said earlier in the thread, and Ill repeat it here, our two goals for this year were for Caleb to learn to be an NFL QB, and for the team to face adversity and learn what it actually takes to win against the good teams. It's more than talent and execution, it's that other thing we see in winners. This hurt, but it's part of it this year.
  5. I think this is right. Eberflus isnt the worst coach ever, but hes bottom 10. looking for someone else is taking a shot at something better. I love Harbaugh, and I would have signed him if I was GM, but I understand he is a polarizing figure. But why not Kliff Kingsbury or some offensive mind to pair with Caleb for his career, like Brady and Mahomes have had. I dont hate the guy, but Eberflus does consistently lose us games we should win right at the end with poor coaching. Hes certainly not giving us a positive edge in winning. I dunno who is available now, and the bye is past and we are probably stuck with him and Waldron unless they are willing to promote from within. But maybe do something about the OL coach Morgan at least? Youve got a guy that went to Yale who cant figure out who he is supposed to block. Maybe he needs a better teacher, cuz he isnt dumb, and it isnt rocket science either. I cant block anyone, but we could ALL learn the Bears' blocking assignments if we were properly taught. It's not that hard to know who to block. Actually blocking them is the hard part i think?
  6. Yeah, there was TONS of holding on that play - and we STILL should have defeated the attempt. Grrrr.
  7. 100% - we didnt deserve this one, but we do see what a competitor Williams is, and how hot he was ont he sideline urging his team to win - thats GREAT stuff to see! Ive been saying, this season is almost like a video game - each level gets harder progressively, and as we reach each new level of opponent we will have to learn to dig deeper and win. This is a good tough lessons for us. Bloodied our lip, now we learn how hard it is to win. I wanted the win today for sure - but i think we can build on this and hopefully become tougher and better. before the season I invoked the 1984 Bears talking about exactly this - they had a great roster - most of the same guys on the 85 team, and they beat a lot of mid teams, but then they met Montana and the 49ers in the NFC championship game, and got beat pretty bad. They learned from that, and the team was totally different the next year. Hopefully we learn those kind of lessons this year. The goals are for Caleb to learn how to be an NFL QB, and for the team to toughen up. We are on schedule
  8. No. Im not going to fight with you, but everything you said was about me and how I couldnt even hear your argument. Dude, dont go there - be a grownup and take responsibility for what you said, and be more civil and less personal please. You absolutely called me by name and said my bias was the problem and I wouldnt listen and I have it out for Flus. Tell my why you disagree, not that I have a character problem. Please. We dont need to go there again. And as we go forward, I am going to handle this firmly but without anger. Im just saying this in a calm tone of voice. Lets not go there again. Lay out the facts, tell me where Im wrong, or dont, but dont post about ME and my character please - cuz you dont know me and youre 100% wrong about me.
  9. hes not the worst coach that ever lived, but he does more bad than good in my opinion. whatever he is, he is certainly not a great coach. Im more concerned with Waldron and Morgan. The personel usage was weird again. If youre gonna throw that iso pass to the left corner of the endzone (the fade) why put Carter there when you have Odunze who is quite a bit taller? I think its Xs and Os to this guy, and he doesnt think about the players. "Fullback up the middle" cool - but in this case your fullback is a 3rd string OG who doesnt have hands. But they dont think about it. Or they just try to fool everyone, and the NFL is FULL of pros - dont fool people on the 1, pound it in.
  10. and for the record, I had said some flattering things about Flus the last couple of weeks, and I did absolutely say that the players deserve a huge share of this too. This isnt some personal vendetta I have against Flus - thats really dumb.
  11. SO lets not get personal OK? The thing is we disagree, thats not because I have a character flaw. I said the players took a huge share of the blame, but youre just trying to make this about me for some odd reason. Please dont. We simply disagree. I think the coaching has been awful. Lets not let this degrade to the personal shots that took over the Justin fight. You thought that was a personal problem with me too, but it wasnt. So lets stay not personal ok?
  12. LOL there's tons of blame to go around. The coaches are not good. The call to Kramer was a joke. The 4th and 1 in the 2nd quarter was an error. Punt there. Instead they gave away an easy FG. Kmet was on the bench for too much of the 4th qtr We were running too much out of shotgun We came out flat in the first qtr after a bye He should have thrown the challenge flag, even if just to damper the momentum allowing that out on the second to last play totally unchallenged set up the hail mary And as you say, they didnt tell the players to play the hail mary that way, but they did - thats discipline and teaching - in other words COACHING. Delay of game, false start, personal foul, illegal formation - all discipline penalties. And in general the team was flat and not prepared. This was on the players AND the coaches. Flus, Waldron and Morgan are NOT good.
  13. Preach. 100% - our coaches suck, and we need to learn how to play tough.
  14. The players share a lot of blame for this one, but there is no doubt we are a poorly coached team.
  15. totally agree on both points. holding on the OL, and we didnt deserve to win today. I half expected this, as we meet tougher opponents, we are going to have to learn to elevate ourselves to match and overtake them. Hard lessons.
  16. SH*T. Too cute. Kramer can block but he does NOT have hands. COME ON - we didnt need that trickery to score there. Play FOOTBALL stop trying to fool everyone.
  17. Kramer and Kiran giving Caleb a chance - wow. OK Jenkins is back. I hope Murray is OK, I like him.
  18. Flus isn't good at 4th and 1, timeouts and challenges. Of course that's not the main problem today, but it's still true. The 4th and 1 over-aggressive mistake is something he keeps doing. We also have lots of stupid penalties and come out flat in the first quarter. I dont love him as head coach, but today it's the players that need to do better.
  19. for sure - the team has to learn to toughen up against harder opponents. Maybe we can do that before the game slips away, or maybe it happens in practice this week, but Id sure like to steal this one.
  20. OK D got the stop, ST blocked the FG - lets see Caleb get it going, show us a 4th qtr comeback.
