Rex Grossman's dad tees off on Chicago Bears organization
Connorbear replied to ParkerBear7's topic in Bearstalk
Agreed 100%. Peace -
Hass just got cut from Seattle. Anyone want him again???? Peace
-
I agree with the Rasheed Davis statement. However, Davis is one of our best special teams players and heplays all 4 phases of ST. Got to give Toub a couple of players he wants. Peace
-
Hey, I want DA to succeed I just am not going to make the jump that is going to happen. He will definately be active the next 3 to 4 weeks given Wolfe's injury. Let's hope he can get on the field. Peace
-
Teams normally keep 5 to 6 recievers on their 53 man rosters. Did Miami and Washington only keep 3 those years????? Regardless, I want to see him play as well. I am just not under the illusion he is going to be better than anything we have now (we have seen this same phenomenom with Haas and Rideau). I would love it if he was, but I am not holding out hope for it. Peace

Per the Bears website, DA is 6'2" 201 and Hester is 5'11" 190. Being 3 inches taller, he should have at least another 10 pounds on Hester. Iglesias is 6'!" and 205. DA was also with Miami (cut in preseason) and Washington (on their practice squad). Because he was with Indy, doesn't mean he has a better skill set than Hester, Davis, or Iglesias. Peace

Per the Bears website: DA spent the 2006 preseason with Miami and was cut at the end of the preseason. Indy picked him up and he spent 2006 on their practice squad. He played 6 games for Indy in 2007 with 7 catches and 96 yds. DA spent most of the 2008 season on the Washington practice squad. The Bears claimed him of the Washington practice squad and he spent the last 3 games inactive on their roster. He has bounced around quite a bit. I am hoping he can step up here. Hopefully, we get a chance to judge him the rest of the yr. Peace

I completely agree the loss is on Jay. I disagree on Devin. I think he has progressed at WR. Unfortunately, they are paying him as a #1. He will never be a #1 and that is the problem. He is, however, leaps and bounds better that he was last yr and the yr before. Where do you get that Aromashudo is one of the 2 most polished receivers on the team? He has bounced around the league for 3 yrs and made 1 nice play this preseason. I would say we need to see more of him before we can actually judge him. As I stated in another post, I think that definately needs to happen. Peace
-
You do realize he was going to be the #3 receiver until he got hurt right before the 1st game and then Knox got playing time. I, for one, am glad that we were able to find out Knox can play. What have seen to show that he is a physical receiver? He made 1 nice play in the preseason and had 1 catch the other night. Look, I want to see him play too but I am under no illusion that he is going to be the answer to our problems at WR. He has been bouncing around the league for a few yrs now and has yet to stick with anyone. Peace

I am inclined to agree. I don't think Hester will ever be a great receiver or Olsen a top flight TE. If we could get value for them and use that to improve our o-line, I would say go for it. Peace
-
I'm not going to make the assumption that he is going to succeed off of one play. That being said, I would like to see him get more playing time. Peace
-
Nice reply but please watch the language. We never know who is reading this. I agree with your thoughts. We have to fix the O-line. Peace
-
Thanks. I was just about to do this. Nice summary. Peace

I will say this - fans at the stadium love ripping on Hockuley and his weightlifting prowess. The group around me spent a good quarter ripping into him. It was fun. Peace
-
I'll take Rivera as well. The defense was better better in 86 and they didn't make the SB with a backup QB so I doubt you could have been the Bears QB. Peace
-
He told Hockuley he was looking a little out of shape!!!! Peace
-
I wonder if Olsen were to trim down 10 to 15 pounds if he could be a #1. Would he gain any speed? He is a horrible blocker for a TE and we really need to get in a TE who can do both. Peace
-
Agreed. Personally, I would leave it with Manning. Peace
-
I have no issues with that. We have a spot available (just IR Pisa). Peace
-
Changes I would make for next yr: 1 - Olsen moves to WR. Let's face it, he cannot block and I don't want to see him try anymore. Thayer was saying Kellen Davis has improved. Keep working with him and draft another blocking TE. 2 - Draft a blocking FB or get the best one on the FA market. They come cheap and can normally play well even at the twilight of their career. McKie is gone. 3 - Sign at least one o-lineman in FA. Not a project but a proven vet that is considered in the top 3 available. Draft 1 to 2 more. Get rid of Pace and get road graters. 4 - Move Williams to LT. Lose Pace. Tell Omiyale he is competing for RT (Do not simply give him the job). 5 - Ogy gone. We do not have the luxury to give him big money and he is not that good to justify it. 6 - Vasher gone. I would much rather give reps to DJ Moore or Corey Graham. 7 - Bring back Turner. I know everyone is going to hate this but I think you will have a real hard time hiring a OC for 1 yr since I think next yr will be Lovie's last. I would rather keep consistency than have Cutler and the offense go through 3 coordinators in 3 yrs. 8 - Gaines Adams works with Rusty Jones all off season and puts on 10-15 pounds. He will compete with Anderson for starting LDE. I did not mention changes in the coaching staff simply because I do not see it happening. However, you can dream... Further - please get reps for Iglesias, Moore, Gilbert, and Toenai for the rest of the season. Peace
-
I wouldn't go that far. There were teams under Wanny, Ditka, and Jauron that were worse. However, I will say worst OL in my lifetime. They suck donkey balls. Peace
-
Understood. At least it is better than when Mikey Jr. ran the show. We didn't have a GM and Mikey was an idiot. I know Angelo has killed us lately in the draft but at least the structure is in place. I see them losing the next 2 games easily and finishing 6-10. There will be a loud call for changes from the fan base. Let's hope someone is listening. BTW - I would say another brightspot was screen execution. As someone else pointed out, that was the best I have ever seen the Bears do it. Peace
-
Agreed on penalties. That's 19 in 2 games and that all goes back to coaching. 2 delay of games? 3 offsides on defense? What the Fxck???? I thought the ST had an above average night. Return coverage was good. Both Maynard and Gould had nice kicks. What was a bit suspect was blocking on returns. Peace

That Omiyale had replaced Beekman on the last drive. ZZ asked him after the game why Beekman was replaced and Lovie said that was the 1st he aware of it. ZZ asked if Beekman was injured and Lovie said no. Just food for thought. Peace
