  1. They have to be a minority to be awarded compensation.
  2. 2026 Poles will have little wiggle room without working some magic. They won't be active in FA since they are already projected over the cap for 2026. I think at some point this year, they extend Brisker or Byard so there is some continuity going forward. I hope that udfa from Oregon can play. That would be a bonus. The draft will be RB, S, TE and NT just to fill open roster positions for losses to fa. At least the RB class is just as good if not better. If the Bears want some extra cap and decide to trade Kmet to free up space, they will need to sign/draft 2 since they will already need to add 1, so that doesn't seem logical. TE is the second hardest position to learn after QB and you need experience. They might extend him and spread the salary out. Braxton Jones has trade written all over him and I hope he comes back and plays well enough for interest. The trade will have to be a 2nd or 3rd, imo. We should get a 3rd comp if he signs elsewhere in fa. As for Ian Cunningham getting a GM job, it would be in the Bears best interest to happen 2027 when they will need draft assests the most. If the Bears are hot this season, he will probably get his gig.
  3. Right, we got these two quality hogs for pick 41 and 72. If we didn't trade, sure we could have drafted Kaleb Johnson, who I was all for. I think after Henderson was gone, Poles wasn't too worried about the rest of the backs and figured he would get a guy before it was over. He also could buy a vet FA if they missed out. There is no way any GM can calculate what 31 other teams need and where they rate players. The Bears brass seem happy and get to add at least 7 more guys next draft.
  4. This was all understandable. The Bears failed every QB that I can remember in the last 35 years or more. Any QB with talent can look at the Bears and think exactly like Caleb. He talked to his dad about the Bears and his dad took the steps it takes to go to war for his kid. The step that they took speaking to espn writer Seth Wickersham about possibly dropping the "nuke" was necessary for their plan, but it also brought the repercussions we have today as Seth looks to cash in on the details he was given. If Caleb survives this, it will be a miracle. When I say this, I mean coming to Chicago and not his predraft/book concerns. They nearly ruined him his rookie season, but have since taken the necessary steps to give him a chance to succeed. My assumption is Warren and Poles went to ownership and told them how it will go from here on out if they ever want to see daylight from the bottom of the nfl dumpster again. They have non disclosures in their contracts, so there wouldn't be a book but they need to assure the league that the McCaskeys have no say on who they hire, sign, or draft. If this is the case, Warren and Poles deserve recognition.
  5. Kiran Armadgie got the reps with the ones. Thuney said he enjoys being next to him, he is very smart. Odunze is leaving a great impression on Ben Johnson. He said he acts like a seasoned vet and has been making some nice deep catches.
  6. Tory Taylor was designated as an international player, does that open a slot when setting game day actives?
  7. Right. If he makes the jump, you have to consider resigning him. The other two LTs will sort themselves into roles if they are good.
  8. Reports about Caleb not getting film help tells me we are going 3 QBs. He needed this last year, but it's the Bears and they dont know what to do. Keenum will teach him the ropes from what BJ wants. BJ will do his film time but Keenum will help answer questions and do film in between.
  9. The hardest part for Braxton will be getting up to speed if he misses much of TC. He's projected to be limited at the start. Kiran's practice window opened Aug 20 last year and he missed crucial practices to develop for a rookie. Braxton won't be nearly as bad, but he might miss the new coaching reps that can limit his technique to their liking.
  10. I dont think the Bears should maximize just yet until they see what they have and are a legit playoff team. If they are a playoff team and fall short, then add those final pieces to get there.
  11. I would hate to lose a 2nd for a 31 year old player, but if the Bears were truly contenders for the ring it is worth it.
  12. The Thuney rumor has been out there. There is a podcast, maybe Hoge, that they asked Poles and he said they were hammering it out and hoped to get it done before OTAs. Sounds like there is grounds to the Hendrickson trade also. 2nd and 5th, but they have to get an extension worked out first.
  13. LT will be Trapilo or Amagadje. We have two that will compete and it will make them both better. My way to early mock had the same positions. RB taken in the 1st after how they coveted Jeanty and Hendnerson. 1-24 Jeremiah Love RB ND 6-0 205 2-48 Braylon Shelby DE S Car 6-5 265 3-86 Dillon Thieneman S Pur 6-0 207 4-118 Demonte Capehart DT Clem 6-5 315
  14. I think after the Bears went to Hollywood and wined and dined him, his mind changed. They told him he will be a bear. He chose to accept the challenge and rewrite the QB narrative.
  15. They did GB a favor here. We can't destroy the Pack on opening night, but get a Minny who may struggle on O. Then off to Detroit, which might be the game of the week.
  16. Rookie camp is basically showing them around the campus, getting equipment, teaching formation and basic play languages, and then seeing how well they can retain instruction in drills. The veterans had camp, so they are a step ahead. They want the rookies up to speed so when they all meet they are green light.
  17. Heard there was video out there and there was some contact, which is a no no. But I am happy he is looking smooth and we get the best LT out of the 3 we have competing.
  18. And fast forward through the commercials. I think it is also dumb. Games only on stream (Prime/Peacock) are dumb also.
  19. I dont know where this Loveland is a great blocker comes from. He needs to develop this part of his game, hes a hard worker so he should. He is called a TE, but really a big WR. I added some draftbuzz scouting reports. Imagine Kmets stats if he had a QB other than Fields who did find him more or a rookie QB who had too much on his plate and struggled most games until the 4th Qtr. DJ Moore had better stats in Carolina. So is the problem the players or the Bears (coaching)
  20. Loveland is closer to WR Tat McMillan because he will be a slot/move TE. Loveland and Burden will rotate while Kmet stays at TE or if they want to go better blocking put Smythe in. You wont see Loveland inline like Kmet/Smythe. Kmet is paid decently, so the Bears could trade him before his final year. That would be smart to get value. Since the Bears are paying all their QBs 13 mil total, they can splurge the extra money right now. The Bears have technically 4 more years of this benefit. That's a lot of years to draft players and balance the team for long term success.
  21. The owners share profits and markets like the Lakers and Dallas bring in a lot more than Utah or Charlotte. It could be a collective agreement as the Bulls were given Rose and Cleveland Lebron in the lotto, so the cheat is spread around year to year.
  22. The numbers won't be as great as that, but it's the idea of two TEs that can work on the field together. If you replace the receptions on NE going down to Moore, Odunze, Loveland, Kmet and shave some from each of those for Burden.
  23. We all would need to see it, but it worked before. Patriots 2011
  24. Yes, they are releasing games as teasers. Im still predicting Bears at GB opening week, Sunday night football.
  25. It's an entertainment business. If you think teams like the Bulls lucked out to land homegrown Derrick Rose with a 1.8% chance then Cleveland lands home grown LeBron and many others, then let me sell you some sand (if your near a beach). Listen to LeBron
