  1. I see it the other way around with the locker room and fans. Once CW gets playing time and everyone sees his ability, the feelings will change. JF won't be unprofessional, heck, he might light it up knowing his time is coming to an end. Then come trade deadline and the demand will be higher. I don't want the Bears to lose value in him. There is a way to increase it if it doesn't happen by the draft.
  2. The Packers drafted Love, Arob wasn't happy but didn't demand a trade. You can make a fuss and threats, but that doesn't help anyones case. CW shouldn't panic or fuss either over competition knowing JF is on his last year. If he cannot handle another QB to compete against or hold a clip board for then is he gonna be man enough to be a Chicago QB?
  3. Even JF doesn't know what the plan is and said he wishes this to get over soon. Poles has said he will be upfront with JF and he would be the first to know. That writing tells me the Bears are open to all scenarios and nothing is being leaked. If the Bears get a offer they like for either diection, they will move. Poles at the combine said he stays up late running scenarios through his head, undecided. Since the locker room is behind JF, Poles has to weigh all aspects and the best route might be holding on to him and drafting CW since the trade cupboard is bare. Get a #2 WR at 9 if a top 3 is there and let the QBs compete. You have a veteran to let CW grow and the Bears can let JF increase his value.
  4. Glad the date is approaching fast. Maybe Poles trades JF to a team in cap trouble, especially at QB. I'd think Denver contacted Poles to trade Wilson for Fields while throwing in a couple picks too
  5. It takes the right balance since the D is in more nickel or dime these days. Poles did well by building a backfield with 4 good CBs to go with Brisker and whoever they sign at fs. The killer is they need another stud at WR and DE, so pick 9 will be one of those or a trade down.
  6. If he can get Xavier McKinney, the backfield will be the best in the NFL. The best cover safety and cover CB will give the front 7 time to get knock the QB out of rhythm. The only issue is Brisker will want to get paid next year and a higher priced FS may make him a tough signing.
  7. I would love to see them get Frazier or Van Pran in Aprl to help settle the C position once and for all. That would tell me how serious he is if he gets a long term fix planted this offseason.
  8. Fields was mishandled by the Bears and he never developed. He could possibly turn it around, but with the top pick in the draft and a QB like CW that only comes every 5 to 10 years, the Bears cannot pass on the opportunity. As exciting as getting the biggest draft haul in history can be, the Bears would be a QB away from winning it all. We watched it with Rex. Many fans feel bad for JF, we know he was and will be done wrong, but the game is about a trophy and starting fresh with a QB with CW talent gives the Bears the best shot for many years.
  9. Poles oline acquisitions. Many darts and resources used early on hoping to strike gold. He did find nuggets in BJones and Wright. 2022 draft 5- Braxton Jones LT 6- Zachary Thomas OL 6-Doug Kramer C 7-Jayre Carter OG 2022 Free agency Alex Leatherwood OT claimed Lucas Patrick C signed Riely Rief OT signed Michael Schoelfield OL signed Julian Davenport OT signed Jean Delance OT UDFA Corey Dublin OL UDFA 2023 draft 1-Darnell Wright RG 2023 free agency Nate Davis G Bobby Haskins OT UDFA Loren Metz OT UDFA Gabe Huey G UDFA Josh Lugg T UDFA Nick Amoah T UDFA Roy Mbaeteka T International 2023 Trade Dan Feeney OL 2024 Trade Ryan Bates OL
  10. My Bears first FA target: FS Xavier McKinney- 24 yrs old - top cover corner. Between him and JJ, QBs will have a hard time finding open wrs.
  11. JJ can finally hit the market and see his worth. Poles feels his offer is inline to what teams would pay. It does really limit JJ, but a team like Baltimore, for example, can make him an offer knowing it's 2 firsts should be near the 30s. Hopefully, JJ gets some interest and comes back home.
  12. Poles isn't afraid to trade picks or players. Trading our 4th and 5th for depth G/C's has me a little concerned since Feeney seems like a wasted move and using the pick on C Doug Kramer. Seems like we are throwing many darts at an important position and missing the board. This move tells me he has another move in his mind to get some draft value back and it scares me if the plan is moving out from no1.
  13. Guard/Center- where does Poles see him playing? Is he moving Davis or Jenkins?
  14. Keep them coming Mongo, enjoying the stories. Sure wish the Bears went after him. It would have brought back that 85 hype. The HC would have taken the lime light and injected new life into the team.
  15. The safety FA market is strong, so I do not see the Bears drafting that position high. I feel they should draft a good young WR prospect to balance the spending as well as a DE. Since WR seems deeper in the draft, they might go DE at 9 but realistically need a 2nd to get that WR. If Poles feels Caleb is not a good fit for the culture and sees Maye as about as good, maybe he can gain some draft capital by trading WAS. Round 3 has to go Center and there is a good chance either Frazier or Van Pran are there.
  16. The last question to Poles was the NFLs 2024 cap raise. Their will be an additional 30 million added which will change a lot of the decisions from GMs. Players that were on the verge of being cut may be kept. It all seems great knowing we get that much more but it also shrinks the pool of players that may have been in the market. It will also raise players demands for more money. Poles was surprised, so he didn't see that coming. He should have extended Jaylon during the season and might have got him at a bargain. It also helps Poles if he decides to hold on to JF even if he drafts a QB. If all he gets are 2nd round offers, wait until a team's starter QB goes down with a season ending injury and the price just went up.
  17. Been preaching that it all starts at the top for a while. It's hard to get to the top without the best coaches. Hope Warren and Poles see it in Flus. I will say I think they finally have a good OC.
  18. If the Bears do that, I think they can build a great team to eventually bring a rookie QB that anyone should prosper with. 2 firsts in 2024, 3 in 2025, and if they trade ATL, it will require their 2026, so 2 in 2026. They can use those picks to gain addition picks too. You can grab a 2nd rd QB prospect for insurance if desired. Sign the 5th year to lock JF down and make the 85 team again. The Commanders will more than likely be picking top 8 or higher next year. Or if they end up like Carolina, maybe the top pick again. It will be considered by Poles. Does he feel better with the haul of a lifetime or a chance at a great QB. If the QB is wrong, you lose at the addition 6 first rd players if right, the QB could be worth all that. Let's just say 5-6 wins Home opponents: Dallas Cowboys New York Giants Philadelphia Eagles Atlanta Falcons Carolina Panthers Cleveland Browns Pittsburgh Steelers Tennessee Titans Chicago Bears Away opponents: Dallas Cowboys New York Giants Philadelphia Eagles New Orleans Saints Tampa Bay Buccaneers Baltimore Ravens Arizona Cardinals Cincinnati Bengals
  19. Teams need to have most pieces in place to make a qb work. It starts from the top. I think the Bears have the right GM in place. HC is still shaky, but he did improve as the season progressed with all of the issues he faced. OC, I think they have the best guy that was available but time will tell. Is the Oline able to protect the QB and help with calls? They are getting closer too but there is a huge hole at C and G/OT depth. Running game, seems pretty good but no standout and if you remove JF, are they great? WR, after DJ Moore, they are basically all guys that wouldn't be missed. TE, they need a better backup. They need about 4 good to great players on offense or 1/3. Count the QB and we are closer to needing half the personal. If they draft Caleb, would he be enough to overcome those deficiencies? They could still upgrade maybe two positions with good to great replacements and they might be closer, but that is also how you wreck a rookie. Whatever way the Bears go, I will support. As DaBears listed, great QBs come not only from the number one slot because they go to a great situation and are developed.
  20. Would love this draft but see Zinter is going rd 3 or 4. Milton had been mentioned going rd 1 too but will more than likely be gone rd 2 or 3.
  21. I played guard, was short, strong, and fast. Was a great pulling guard but understood leverage with being short. 6'4 guys with 40-50# on me had trouble because I knew how to get my hands under their shoulder pads and stand them up on their toes. It was fun a time. Braxton needs to learn technique and also get stronger. Playing LT is the toughest because you are facing the best who have multiple techniques. Teams know his struggles and that is usually how they attack knowing JF will feel the pressure and bail. I know Braxton is eager to improve and imagine he will work on this more this offseason. If the Bears don't feel he will make improvements, they might insurance later in the draft. This will be his prove it year and if he doesn't, look for them to go LT high next year.
  22. I don't see Braxton able to play inside, his biggest struggle is against power/bull rush. He can pull and move well, but loses ground on straight up pressure. Going into year 3, he needs to overcome that.
  23. Olin said JPJ could start but needs a vet line and TE to help him do it.
  24. My trade down from 9 to land the best Center and a DE that fits Flus's stronger edge setting ends. the 2nd.
