  1. Gase is a disciple, non directly,of Martz's system from what I read when he was signed, and Martz is big on him calling him one of the best offensive minds in the league. However, the Dallas model gets quoted way too much. Statistically, Romo has been a top QB most of his years in the league most of his career. Cutler hasn't. Having Murray run like that helped, but statiscally Romo isn't far off from before. Romo's lowest QB rating was 90.5, highest 113.2, Cutler's lowest was 76.8 and highest was 89.2. Romo is on a different level.
  2. Only 50/50 lol? Seriously, I'd like to not see him play this season personally. That would mean either the Bears found their QB of the future on the roster, or a better one for the present and the team had the balls to make the switch. Plus, I think the 10th year as a "franchise quarterback" is too long to finally get it.

Close to 8 million guaranteed through injury if it was picked up, he'd have to do something pretty darn amazing to get that in his next deal.
  4. Agreed, why go to extremes of deflating the balls after they have been checked if you don't think it's an advantage.
  5. I disagree with the article. The punishments are inline with what they can prove. The staff was involved, so I think the organization is responsible. The two guys they could prove were involved in the event were severely punished by being suspended without pay. I think more than a loss of picks would have been involved if this could have been linked directly to Belicheck. Brady was giving a punishment in line with Roethlisberger. I'm not comparing rape and deflating balls. I'm comparing the fact that while there is not definitive evidence, the commish pretty much knows their was wrong doing. In such dished out 4 game suspensions. I think if there was direct evidence found linking Brady, he would have likely been given a much larger suspension.

There is some of what he said on them. It was a decent press conference if you have extra time. I watched it when I was bored the other day, just to get a feel on him as a person.
  7. They are suspended without pay. Only the NFL can reinstate them, and if reinstated their are limits on what they can do. Basically they need to stay away from all game balls, which a big part of their job. To me it sounds like they need to find a new job. Below is where the quote in my first post came from. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown...-162121409.html

Yea, that's what I thought I remembered. It stood out to me that he never mentioned Bostic when talking about both Jones and McClellan and the returning players. That doesn't necessarily mean that he isn't high on Bostic. His injury may just have had him off Fangio's mind. He seemed pretty high on Jones in general. I think McClellan makes the team do to his versatility. Foster should also get a roster spot, I'm just not sure how many ILB they will keep. If it's only 4 and McClellan get's a foothold at ILB, Bostic may be in competition with the rest of the linebackers for that last roster spot.
  9. The guys that suffered the most were the employees doing their jobs.

From listening to Fangio, I kind of felt like McClellan and Jones seemed to have a decent shot at starting. I really haven't heard them talking about Bostic much, but he may stick. I just have a feeling he may be on that fringe depending on who they like in camp.

I won't be surprised if Bostic isn't cut also by the first game.
  12. I think DC could be a need next year. If Fangio can bring the D to the middle of the pack, he may be on the radar for a head coaching gig.
  13. Lol, that decribes Kyle Long to a Tee
  14. With them winning the Super Bowl, I'm not sure how they could punish them. They blew this off till after the draft, and I think New England should lose that super bowl win record wise, Brady should be suspended for a year and the team hit with fines and lost draft picks. I don't think they will do it.
  15. The line was bad last year because of injuries. I can't remember the number, but the Bears sent out a ridiculously high number of starting line ups for them last year. Having Slauson and Long healthy will be huge. I thought Slauson was a beast 2 years ago. A little health will go a long way.
  16. Cooper's higher acceleration and computerized 40 was impressive.I hope White turns out but one year of success, age, coming from juco, and maxing out at the top end scares me combined with limited route running in a non pro offense. I say that not taking away from his positives. Hopefully he will be the Bears WR ever, but I wouldn't have drafted him so early.
  17. if the Redskins really was hooked on scherf, you'd thing the bears could have traded up for little for williams.
  18. I think you are short changing Marshall as a teammate and talent wise. He is the most elite WR in the teams history. He was a big part of the success in Trestman's system that had the Bears second in the league in scoring. He did his part, and a WR doesn't have much say in the win loss record. Sometimes they can buy you a win like Marshall's 3 TD game against the 49er's while injured, but they don't effect the game like a QB. If not for Marshall, Jeffery would be an offensive pass interference waiting to happen. He took him under his wing and the improvement was dramatic. He took the initiative to have the other Bennet, Wilson, Forte, and Cutler to meet in the off-season and practice in Florida. He was a high character guy for the Bears and dedicated to being successful here, despite rubbing the ownership the wrong way. Character and distractions went out the window as soon as the Bears signed McDonald.
  19. No, the Bears only saved 3 or 4 million by trading marshall. McPhee and Rolle are well over that. Even said so, Beasley is a better prospect than McPhee and Rolle will retire in a year or 2. He is old for a Safety, and will likely show it this year. If White isn't a bust, his production the next few years won't be near a non ijury year for Marshall. I just don't see a way that White and 3 or 4 million is better than Marshall and Beasley, unless you are looking 6 years down the road.

Retaining Cutler instead of getting out of the contract when he could. Letting Tillman go, as I felt he has a few really good years left. Letting go of the second best player on offense, only to have to use a first round pick to fill that hole. The team already had more holes than swiss cheese when he came in. Giving Pernell, not a starting player on his own team, such a large contract. He very well overpaid for Eddie Royal. I could go on, but I think you have the idea. He came from a team that is in shambles when he left, and I'm still not sold on the Saints being a good front office to learn from. I love the addition of Fox, but that was basically a no brainer. Other than that, I think he's did more to deplete the roster than add to it. I'm not trying to convince others not to like them, just explaining my strong negative opinion of him. I'm glad that most of a the board is excited. I'd just wait before he is anointed.
  21. Basic answer is no. Now you have a maximum amount you can pay a rookie based on where they were drafted per the CBA. I'm not sure if there are limitations on when that can be renegotiated, but his initial contract will be the same for any other T drafted at his slot. I'm not sure if they can sign him, then just give him more money right after or not. He won't be a free agent if the team that drafts him can't come to terms. No player can bypass the drafting process like that. He will instead be eligible to be drafted again next year.
  22. I wasn't trying to kill the thread, but it wasn't a beer thing, even though it may have been more eloquent if beer wasn't involved. It's more like an ex girlfriend. Stuff just got to the point it was time to leave. You want to see them do good and cheer them on, and love them and the memories. The frustration, not seeing eye to eye, and disappoints gave built for years. Maybe one day if they get themselves straight, you can get back with them, but for now it's time to move on. I've just got to the point of not caring because I feel they will continue to make mistakes. I'll still be active in the community because I like it here and the people involved. I will still want to see the Bears do good, just won't care if they don't and won't be watching ritualistically.

Personally I don't like Pace. I'm not saying anyone else shouldn't. Just that liking the draft at the moment doesn't mean he'll be any better or that the team is better.

Less head scratchers doesn't equate to good players. I'm not saying this will be a bust draft, but its as likely it is compared to all being good starters for years. One or two will likely be people you are cussing at on Sundays. I'm not promoting the old GMs, just saying to not crown Pa e yet. The previous GMs and pace have created so many holes, that anyone drafted in their predicted area looks good, as they fill a need. Marshall was traded, draft White. We switched schemes that our prowbowl DT doesn't fit, or the 2 DTS drafted last year, draft a fat guy. Cut the center that just signed and not sign De LA Pointe, draft a center. Pace made the holes he's killing
