Good point. Generally speaking, drafts need three years to be judged but you can get a solid idea sometimes much earlier. Hell, there was a Wanny draft where every player selected was gone by the third year, I think. Injuries last year make it hard to judge but thus far I'm not sold on Emery's drafting skills. I like many of the picks this year and understand why we took Long when we did. I think he'll pan out. This draft might salvage Emery in my eyes. Getting something out of our 2012 class might also do that. We'll see. I certainly hope for great things.

I'm not cranking on his faith, just the fact that he feels the need to put it on display every 5 seconds. I'm fairly convinced there's a God but I'm pretty sure he doesn't give a shit about some sorry-ass QB and/or the results of a football game. Some things are meant to be kept private and personal.

Terra is a shrill one but frankly I don't think anyone expects the D to be as good this year. After years of guys on this board ripping on The Lovie 2, we're going to find out what happens next. And obviously you don't replace a Brian Urlacher and expect stellar results. Just look at the difference with/without #54 in the lineup over the last few years. Peanut's a year older, so is Briggs. Secondary ain't great, regardless. I wouldn't be surprised if the D slipped into the bottom half statistically this year. So TT, despite never watching a game, may have a point.

Dude! I used to have buddies over, grill, drink, rifle through Kiper's book with every pick, watch ESPN, all the while giving each other shit about our respective team's picks. We could make it a 10 hour party! This prime time "event" sucks. I mean, I'll watch it, but it isn't nearly as fan friendly as it was when they held this over the weekend.

Emery's draft last year, quite frankly, is suspect. I'm not a Te'o hater like some here but Emery damn well better be right if he makes this pick. Two years in a row with failures in the first round is starting to sound all too familiar.

Not sure but it almost makes me wish Jerry Angelo was still around. With a draft full of 2nd and 3rd round talent he would be sure to hit on a few gems. Seriously though, I don't think you can say before a draft who'll move up or down. It really depends on who slips to whatever spot that some team perceives there to be a bigger value for them than the cost of giving up some other pick they have to move there.

Trestman will size Cutler up in camp and the wheels will start moving then if there's a reason for them to move. I'm sure he's already watched dozens of games on tape. If Trestman is what we all hope he is, he won't need actual game performances in his system to make the call. And as for all this "what is cutler worth" stuff... Why does anyone here care? The guy will make what market says he should make, no more no less. As fans we should be focused on the games, the wins, the fun... Leave the business bullshit to the team execs.

No clue, I leave that to the professionals in the organization to figure out. All I know is he's the first QB I've seen in a Bears uniform in my lifetime that can do it all. He hasn't been consistent for a lot of reasons, some of which are on Jay and others that are on the team. His punk attitude is a big minus. The skills are certainly there and with an improved line (I HOPE) and a real offense (I HOPE) we should see Jay be all that he can be...

I think he's going to be a good player so wherever they take him is OK with me. With that said, he has slide written all over him and he's not as good as other LB's I think we'll see available to us when we pick in the first round... So I'd either move back (not a fan of this usually) or wait until the second round on Te'o. The likely answer is he isn't going to end up on the Bears.

If you're JA, only about 10% of his early round picks made it. If he was hitting 400 he'd still be here.

Understood. From an outsider's perspective, it was a blazingly fast decision that came down from Halas Hall on this. And there's something good to say about that too, I guess. It means we didn't mess around with the Urlacher deal for so long that we lost any ability to get anyone else... Thereby putting all the negotiating power in his hands. That was one issue I had with JA. Still, with a player like #54 you'd hope they could play it out some so it appeared they were giving him his due. 13 years of HOF caliber ball deserved better than what it appears he got. I think they came to right conclusion and did so very diligently, I'm just not in love with how Brian is leaving the team with this bad taste in his mouth. Even though, obviously, he had a lot to do with how it all went down.
