  1. I won't deny my surly nature. With that said, I've never once got in a pissing match about what position a guy plays. That's like arguing about whether dirt is brown or black. Idiotic. And I even tried to chill things by posting the Ali clip. On and on they went. Get a damn room!
  2. God damn you've become a pain in the ass. Almost of Terra proportions. Take a Midol and STFU.
  3. Nobody said there weren't going to be repercussions. He'll have court costs, a large fine, may be suspended by the league and he could still lose his job. Those are the same very real repercussions any one of us would face in the same circumstances. I'm only arguing that he shouldn't be treated differently than the rest of us. And we can't just cut everyone who ever ran afoul of the law. Want to cut Briggs too? In the case of comparing this to OJ, we saw a trial and all the evidence and it was pretty clear to me that he was guilty but the jury was essentially tricked into acquitting him. Rodriguez wasn't even charge much less brought to court. It isn't even the same ballpark. Look, I don't want scumbags on the Bears either. And if this guy is one of those I'll be 100% for cutting his ass ASAP. I just haven't seen enough yet to be his judge, jury and executioner. But more power to you...
  4. Couldn't agree more with you about his draft. At this point it's too early to tell and I hope they all develop but it ain't looking too good right now. As for being arrested that first time, the charges were dropped and he was fully exonerated. I don't care if you like it or not but he's innocent until proven otherwise.
  5. His momma named him Clay, I'm going to call him Clay...
  6. Don't cut anybody. Just play 10 DT's and have Peanut play rover behind them picking off anything that gets by. Call it the Jumbo Defense.
  7. We'll need to see where Rodriquez ends up in camp. A DUI could mean the Bears would need to carry him on the roster through any potential suspension and that might be enough to get him cut. But all the "sky is falling" crap over a DUI is ridiculous. I know, he has a history... And he may just be an idiot who needs to be cut. But that stuff last year was dropped and the kid made a mistake this year. One I'd venture to guess most posters here have made and gotten away with. I know I've driven when I shouldn't have. Got lucky. I'm 48 now and don't make idiot moves like that anymore but when I was in my 20's I did. So give it a break. The Bears will do what's best for the Bears on this guy and that's good enough for me. PS. I'm not condoning what he did so if you're going to jump up and down about drunk driving, I get it. But he should get the same punishment as anyone else would out there and that means, to me, the fine he's going to pay to society. I know if I made the same mistake I wouldn't expect my company to fire me for it. PSS. No, I don't want Tebow on the Bears at any position under any circumstances.

Exactly. It's a rah rah fluff piece, not meant to be journalism. He answers the "What's your favorite stadium for hot dogs?" type questions because that's what he's being paid to do. Fact is most journalism these days ain't what it used to be.
  9. I think he did the right thing. Now the Bears need to take him into the fold and give him some ongoing role.
  10. I think he and his agent expected a prolonged negotiation with them dragging the Bears through the mud in the press. What they got was a quick adios. New, unpredictable front office made this effort tough on Brian's agent. Not that I care, the Bears appear to have done the right thing.
  11. I agree but I also seem to recall Urlacher playing some ST in his rookie year. Seems to be "what's done" in the NFL with rookie LB's with speed.
  12. Yep. With that said, it seems like the new staff would get a better idea of what they have in him if he showed up. Therefore I assume it's more about his rehab efforts and being ready for camp than anything else. I still think he'll be on the team but whether that's as a starter or a backup, I have no idea. He played all of last season hurt so I'd assume the team isn't just going to throw him to the wolves without giving him every chance to get healthy.
  13. At this stage I'm taking this with a grain of salt. But I sure hope they're both awesome!
  14. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/...him-in-round-1/ Don't know what to make of this. PFT is known for sensationalizing everything. Earlier today they had an article dedicated to saying the Bears took Long with Suh in mind. Well duh. They took him with lots of D Linemen in mind, you dolts. I assume Carimi makes the lineup assuming he's healthy. And that's not certain.
  15. Try as I might, I STILL can't bring myself to blame Brian for doing that. I know she's a skank but I'd be all over that myself. That said, I doubt there's any pictures of Red Grange with his era's version of Paris Hilton out there. Just sayin'...
  16. You can take most any quote out of context. I promise you, he wasn't talking about a stone carving of the greatest Bears of all time when he said that. The very nature of this theoretical "Mount Bearmore" is historical or "about the past". In addition, given Urlacher's history of hooking up with trashy gals, it wouldn't surprise me if he did something to embarrass us in the future. I'd hate to have to blow off his head with dynamite at some point in the not-too-distant future.
  17. Understood on Ditka but I'm saying if you only have 4 Ditka ain't on my version of the mountain. Maybe like many wanted to add Reagan to the real one, we could find an extra portion of stone for Iron Mike...
  18. Well then you need to put down the joints and talk to a few Bears fans who understand the history of the team. Or better yet, read up on it. I'm sick of this team's fans taking our history lightly. We've got more members of the HOF than any other team and only fall behind the Packers when it comes to the number of championships. Yet many "fans" seem to think Forte is the best RB in team history. Your age is no excuse.
  19. I just feel like the list you're all proposing is too modern. I realize Halas gives it a little depth but Red Grange needs to be on the mountain. Frankly I'd pull Ditka. He had the talent on those late 80's teams to win several Superbowls and managed just one. Don't get me wrong, I love him, but there's no way I put him on Mount Bearmore ahead of Payton, Grange, Butkus and Halas. And the folks on PFT putting Urlacher on the list are chumps.
  20. And he's started more than 30 games more than Long has...
  21. Of all the crap that's come out of your piehole these last few days/weeks, you're dead on here. I know everyone wants to say Lovie or Tice handed this or that to this player or that. Bullshit. They didn't want to get fired and people who don't want to get fired try their best to use the best they have available. Don't get me wrong, I think Webb sucks but he sucked less than other options. We'll see if his change of life improves his game and if it does, more power to him. No matter what, I want the best 5 on the field and I believe any coaching staff feels the same way.
  22. I'm hoping to hear that at least one of the three rook LB's we just drafted "hits like a ton of bricks and has an outstanding nose for the football." It would be great if they said that about all of them... I'm expecting to hear Alshon is "all that" and a slice of cheese. I'm hoping to hear that Hardin is out there. Did he show up in April, I can't recall? I'm also expecting to hear something like "the tremendous depth we have now in the OL is going to make for great competition". I'm hoping to hear someone other than a coach say Long is a ferkin' stud so we can all stop the whining. Will the unsigned guys show up? Anything in the new CBA that precludes that? I'm also interested in hearing if any of the undrafted dudes impress. If you remember, under Smith and Angelo, there was a guy every year who was "really impressive" only to see him get cut at the first round of cuts. In other words, let's watch for how deep the bullshit gets. Thus far I've been most impressed with Trestman/Emery being straight shooters. Now that player evaluation time is here, for their own guys, I hope that continues. And you?
  23. Smoking ANYTHING for an athlete is moronic, if you ask me. Lung capacity and yadda yadda yadda. But he was talking about working to take control of his usage so he must've realized it was getting to be a problem. Not moronic. As for weed, I'm not and have never been into it. But if beer is legal... But until that day, if you get busted with it on you, the "fuzz" is just doing their jobs so show a little respect. Damn youngsters...
