  1. I take my son once a year. Sometimes I get tickets from a contractor and go more than once. Last year I went to the Colts game and the Packers game and I think I paid $200 a ticket each time. Ouch. But hey, if you don't want to pay it, nobody is forcing you.
  2. A better topic would be who wanted Moss drafted by the Bears originally. I recall years and years ago (back in the Usenet days) saying putting Moss on the Bears then (when he didn't show up for his interview with the team) would've been a bad idea. And even after he produced huge numbers my claim was having him on a team with shitty QB's would be like putting earrings on a pig. I may have been wrong.
  3. Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one. All that matters is this: "He had no involvement," Tuiasosopo said. "He did not know anything." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/31/r..._n_2590124.html Your "opinion" therefore has no basis in reality. It's a fairytale. At least you admit that. The one good thing is that you've got "no problem looking stupid". The mods should wipe this entire thread. It's meta bullshit and this site should be above that. More importantly, it has nothing to do with the Bears unless they draft him.
  4. OK, so what does that tell us about Emery? I mean, his body of work thus far is this draft we all seem to hate and his picking a coach that looks like a huge dork. I'm not saying we should be down on the guy, time will tell. And some of the coaching picks look good to me despite the nerdly looks of the HC. Maybe McC was always targeted for the next D this team was going to play after he fired Lovie. If so, shame on him for throwing Lovie under the bus but congrats to him for playing multi-dimensional chess and getting to his goal. I just hope it all works out...
  5. The comment you made that Jason responded to was a complete fabrication. If anything remotely close to your conjecture comes out in the future it'll not only surprise me but it'll be pure luck on your part. Rather than speculating and throwing around wild-ass conspiracy theories you might want to wait until that "some point in time [when] the truth will be out there". Otherwise you risk appearing to be a buffoon.
  6. Amen. And the truly disgusting human beings are those that took him for a ride. This is somewhat unrelated but thought I'd throw it out there... The internet is awesome. It allows us all to communicate here, for example. But it's also a tool that can be evil, even devastating. I went to my son's school last year to hear a speech given by a dad who lost his son to suicide because his son was being cyber-bullied. The mom and dad didn't know what was going on and the kid is now dead. So, yeah, I can see how a hoax could be that elaborate and trick someone in his position. It's really a shame there are those out there that honestly want to believe the worst. It's the world we live in, I guess.
  7. I agree with Mel on this one. He was a big fan of Angelo so his opinion could be a bit tainted but how can you argue with the points Mel makes here? Obvious needs were blown off, a tweaner was picked for a speed rusher and he didn't really develop and Alshon didn't see enough PT due to injury to upgrade that opinion. I believe Alshon will turn out to be a solid pick but he hasn't proven anything yet.
  8. Fact is you and I have no idea what was said in the communications between him and "her" and/or "her family". He didn't likely even have an address. Do you just hop on a plane and fly somewhere hoping to locate the funeral? He would've had to have been told he could come and where it was. I'm sure, if this isn't some sort of double reverse major fake out by Manti and ND, he was torn up about it. For me, I don't think I could fall in love with anyone I hadn't had physical contact with. A romance could start online but it would need to progress. But I'm 48 and didn't grow up with twitter and facebook and all the other electronic communications our kids are so reliant on. My 14 year old son is online with his buddies playing various computer games pretty much each night. This generation is a bit stunted when it comes to interpersonal connections and relationships, IMO. And this is for normal kids. Imagine being the star of the Notre Dame football team as it prepares for the national championship! It feels like to me that those judging him most harshly, without most of the facts, or ignoring the things we do know, are doing so with an ulterior motive. Whether that be a hatred of ND, a hatred for Manti's fame, whatever. I don't know. But the facts as we know them RIGHT NOW don't support the idea that he's a bad boyfriend, a bad person, a disgusting human, etc. They just don't. He's a kid and it appears he's a gullible naive one at that. And he pretty clearly lied after the fact which isn't ever a good thing but it's totally understandable given all the stuff this KID had going on in his life around the time it came out.
  9. I agree with Jason. He's a huge chump but not some disgusting sociopath. At least that's my take given everything out there right now. The name of this thread and most of the posts in it may have been fine at the time they were first posted but they're out of line now. I'm not defending him. Even if he was duped initially he lied later. But there isn't anyone posting here who hasn't lied so keep those stones in your pocket unless your name is Jesus. The kid is a late first round talent who may slip into the 2nd. But it won't be over this foolishness.
  10. Ha. Dude sure doesn't look like a football coach. That shouldn't matter but damn...
  11. I'm not excited about any of these choices. Given this crop I'd choose Lovie. I'm sure I'll come around but right now I'm just not feeling it.
  12. I see all the happy feet grave dancing on Lovie (and last year on JA) and I wonder how many of you really understand the big picture here. No, I'm not going to stick up for Smith because there's plenty of reasons over the last 9 years to say goodbye to him at this time. But this season at 10-6 with that god damn shitty O Line isn't one of them. I'm a Bears fan and I hope like hell Emery knows what he's doing but I saw no evidence in his personnel moves thus far that he honestly understood the most glaring problem he faced when he took over. You can't blame him for patching a few holes and giving Cutler some weapons but there's a long way to go guys. We won't likely be an 8 win team next year unless this off season is full of miracles. Again, Lovie is gone and that's fine with me. But get a clue guys, we aren't going to plug in Gruden and win the Superbowl next season. Dream on. Now, if we're all in agreement that we need to rebuild, it's time to cut ALL the dead weight and that includes players as well as coaches. Big names like Hester and probably Urlacher. We need two solid upgrades on the O Line and depth everywhere. A lot will depend on what D the new coach wants to run but many of our current players won't fit other schemes. In short, you got what you wanted, get ready for things to be ugly for a while and I think we have to stand by the leaders of the team for a while as things hopefully turn around. Let's not be whiny little crybabies at the first sign of adversity.
  13. Don't get your panties in a ruffle girls. Jesus, this place is so full of pearl-clutchers. Lovie will get extended ONLY if Emery thinks he deserves it. Period. Most of the Lovie haters here wanted him gone so Emery could bring in his own guy. Well, the way it worked out, Lovie might be HIS guy. The line for thinking Emery sucks forms now... Get behind Terra.
  14. I couldn't be happier that this douche is injured. And the fact that he's a Packer makes it that much sweeter!
  15. I don't count myself as a "doubter" but I'm still waiting to see what happens when we play another team with a solid pass rush. Dallas had a guy or two out when they played us, the Jags just plain suck. Still, can't complain about the W. 4-1 at the break is nice and I guess we needed it right about now given Jeffrey's injury. Hopefully that doesn't prove to be anything significant. He opens the field up a lot and he's pushed Hester to be better than he's been at WR in his whole career. Nice to see our running game smash it down their throats too. Still, I'd like to see more pressure on the QB. Having GB two games behind us in the standings with Houston up next for them is nice! I can't believe the Queens keep putting up wins. Their D has been almost as good as ours, points wise. Well, we can relax for a week.
  16. Because they suck. That's tough to overcome.
  17. I was at the game and went with a group of Colts fans. Their interior lineman up against Melton, per these guys, sucks. Melton was the only one getting consistent pressure up the middle. I'm not sure how much we can count on that going forward. There was some good edge pressure and the Packers line isn't that good so we might have some luck here for Peppers. Once Freeney went out, the game was over. They got almost no pressure on Cutler after that. It was night and day. I'd like to say the line "came together" or whatnot, but I can't. We'll learn more on Thursday. Alshon is friggen stud. Absolutely the real deal. And with Marshall out there opposite him, I'd dare say we have the best starting two WR's in the NFC. OK, maybe not today but by the end of the season we may be able to say that! The running game had some nice moments. I was surprised because the O Line scared me more in run blocking during the preseason than in pass blocking. I figured our RB's were in for disappointing years. Again, the Colts are notoriously horrible against the run so who knows what this means. but it's a good sign! Defensively, there were WR's wide open all day in our secondary. We were lucky to be playing the Colts with their weak interior O Line giving us the opportunity to rush a rookie QB. I can see this being a huge problem on Thursday. The O will have to put up a lot of points for us to beat the Packers. Is Jennings really this good? Is Peanut hurt badly enough to keep him out for a while? All of this could make the next few games a lot more difficult than they otherwise would've been. It was a perfect day at Soldier Field and when the B-52 went over I got goosebumps. I'm burnt to a crisp from being in the sun all day but I've got no complaints. What a great way to start the football season! I know my comments above are overly negative after a big W, but I have some serious questions remaining about these guys. I suppose we can hope for an offense than can produce enough points to overcome the D's weaknesses but that just isn't what we're used to in Chicago and I'm not sure I'd be able to spot it if I saw it.
  18. Right on all counts except that Williams outplayed Webb. But then again, suck is suck. It's all just shades of gray...
  19. I didn't either. I was told if a team forfeits a game, the team that showed up (like the home team) is given one point and they win 1-0. I just looked this up and the non-forfeiting team is actually given two points. So much for that.
  20. Bears 27-17. Close at half time but Bears are clutch to close the game.

    Cut Day

A friend of mine just said McCown and Allen.
  22. If he passes the physical I'd certainly welcome him back. And as you say, it should be a cheap hire.
  23. I won't be able to watch tonight, I've got my fantasy draft. Here's hoping they all stay healthy. I don't care about much else. I think we've already seen that the O Line is going to be an issue this season.... AGAIN. And I don't expect anything tonight will change that. I hope Cutler and all the other starters play one series and then they get them the hell out of there.
