  1. Tom, you know I'm a fan of yours and that I was down on Cutler after that game against the Giants when he seemed to quit (later to find that he may have had a concussion earlier than originally thought.) But your statement: "He’s a guy who’s just too lazy to go out of his way to do something he doesn’t want to do" is complete bullshit. I'm a tell it like it is guy and there is simply NO WAY you or anyone else could know what motivates Jay Cutler to be the way he is. And frankly, if someone, in this day and age, wants to be singularly focused on football instead of money, shame on those who would have it any other way. I regret my earlier comments calling Jay out in the Giants game because all other evidence suggests we may just have a true ironman type, ala Favre, without all the prima donna bullshit that typically accompanies that type of personality. Jay has taken an absolute beating this year, both physically and verbally, and he's jumped back up, smirked at the naysayers, and kicked their asses hard in response. Not always successful but never lacking effort. I'll take that type of leadership.
  2. Jimmy Mac catching a TD pass from Walter Walter announcing his illness and then the memorial Bob Thomas's kick in the snow to put the Bears in the playoffs in 77 Anything from the "They are who we thought they were" game Wilbur Marshall's destruction of a QB. Can't remember who it was now. Mike Pagel? Cool thread!
  3. I never watch Leno. And I mean never.
  4. But this is the internet where everything is either black or white. And everyone posting here is far superior to anyone the Bears have ever hired... Except Ditka. I doubt even Jason would claim to be better than Da Coach. Then again...
  5. HELL... Rashaan Salaam looked good for a WHOLE SEASON. Just sayin'
  6. Greg Gabriel is a cunt for putting this out there. How many of his "favorite picks" did Jerry ignore that panned out for the Bears? This type of thing happens every year to every team involved in the draft. Sounds like sour grapes to me. And if Starks actually turns into something is yet to be determined. One good game doesn't mean shit.
  7. He's been hired. This makes three Ditka era Bears at HC now.
  8. It ain't worth arguing this guys. On an overall basis I was down on JA earlier this year because he messed up badly with the O Line. But he also get some credit, as does Lovie, for hiring the guys who fixed the problem by coaching this band of misfits up. And on his drafts and FA moves, he's been as successful as any other GM out there who doesn't have Manning or Brady at QB. I'd say he's earned another year to see how this team he put together develops.
  9. Hey Tom, I'd prefer you post a new thread. Your thoughts are often worthy of special consideration and I don't have to work to find them hidden in another thread if you just toss them out there in a new one. And I'm lazy!
  10. I agree with Balta... Although I expected worse than 7 wins this year. The year is already wildly successful based on my expectations but... Expectations shift. Now that we're there, I'm hoping for more. But I won't be irrate if they don't win a playoff game either. Whoever we face is going to be good enough to beat us. But they'll both be teams we could potentially beat if we play well, too.
  11. Replaces Singletary as a Ditka era Bear now coaching. Harbaugh could be another.
  12. OK, but the only thing we know for sure is that Brett sent the pictures. Nothing else above was every proven. So I'd say you're "Blaming the victim" to a certain extent. The gal hasn't been proven to have done anything other than taking two years to come forward... And according to the evidence out there, she didn't do this on her own. She was put on the spot by some "friend" of hers talking to that web site. It seems at that point in time she felt the need to defend her own character and all Brett had to do was clam up to get the NFL to drop it.
  13. And what gives with the Vikings going after Bears WR's year after year? I mean, it isn't like we've been stacked at the position and yet the Queens feel the need to pluck guys off the Bears year after year. Frankly, I'm not sure any of them has really produced for them and they continue to do it. Ah well, Chester Taylor didn't exactly provide "Alan Page" value either.
  14. I think he's done moreso because nobody will want him than because he'll gracefully retire.
  15. Vikings fans call him "Cindy" Rice because he gets hurt when the wind blows on him the wrong way. If the Bears consider going after him I hope they evaluate that aspect and get comfortable he'll be healthy for us before they give him big money. As to JA, his abilities in the later rounds have very clearly helped him overcome his shortfalls in the early part of the draft. My biggest problem with JA these days is his arrogance in ignoring obvious problems at OL for years and years.
  16. Yes, based on what folks who live in Appleton have told me over the years, the guy is a serial cheater. He wouldn't need any response from her to go into full out stupid mode. She's a bimbo but that doesn't give him the right to send her pictures of his cock. I don't think this is over by a long shot. The league keeps hoping it goes away and maybe Favre will cut her a check so it does... Favre has a huge ego. He's never spoken a sentence that didn't include the word "I" in it. Why are you taking his side in this?
  17. And you know this how? He didn't cooperate and didn't answer any questions. He's guilty.
  18. It's crazy on how many of these there isn't anyone close to him at the end of the run. Also, the missed FG return against the Giants and the one in the Superbowl aren't in the clips because they don't officially count toward the record. Too bad the Bears organization messed with his head for two years or he'd have 28 by now.
  19. It isn't explicitely a requirement in football (as you correctly state it is in Baseball) but there's a voting process and each individual has their own criteria. If 80% agree with Flea, on the first ballot, Burt Favor, or whatever her name is, will get in. If they agree with me, that this stuff (and this isn't the only example) is a stain on his career, he won't. Nobody has to explain their ballots. I personally think this kind of thing matters. If I had a vote, I wouldn't cast it for Favre on the first ballot.
  20. I'd play it like any other game. Teams get rusty sitting around for three weeks and this offense is just starting to gel. Further, players always seem to get hurt more when they aren't going all out. Walter played in attack mode 100% of the time and he always claimed it kept him healthier. I believe it. Go for the jugular. It's the ferkin' Packers!
  21. AKA: Stonewalling I hope those having HOF votes in the future see this for exactly what it is. Favre is a goddamn liar. What's the difference between what Favre did and what Sosa did during the congressional hearings on steroids when he basically pretended not to be able to speak English? Sosa may never get into the HOF because he's tainted. I'm not saying Favre deserves to never get in. He didn't take performance enhancing drugs. But this should spoil his bid for getting in on his first ballot, IMO. Integrity of the game is a term tossed around a lot by the Commission. What the HELL is this? As an aside, $50k is an insult as a fine in this case. Most "regular guys", which Favre pretends to be, lose their jobs over sexual harassment. Imagine if you or I sent pictures of our dicks to a secretary at our company! He should've been suspended until he cooperated with the investigation and if that meant his career ended in October because of this, so be it. If the Commissioner believed he wasn't being completely forthcoming, which he obviously did, he should've acted. He's never been shy about fining lesser known linebackers for helmet to helmet shots on precious quarterbacks but he lost his balls when it came to Favre due to his status.
