Is he related to the Anae guys that played at BYU in the ‘80s? You’re right he does look good in highlight film.

I’m actually more interested in Thaddeus Moss in the 2nd. https://dawindycity.com/2020/02/11/chicago-bears-thaddeus-moss-fix-tight-end/

By the way, think the Bear should consider having him return. They were wrong to let him go in the first place but like the author said, he’d be a great veteran presence and still can play in a support role. Don’t imagine he’d cost a whole lot.

First of all...ha! That’s like saying Jerry Jones would be willing to let whomever coaches in Dallas take full control. We all know that ain’t ever happening. Second; this Dan Sileo character is spinning all kinds of stories as if they’re ‘hot takes’. He has another that alleges the Bears are in talks with Cincinnati to acquire their 1st round pick so the Bears can get Burrow. Similar strategy involved with trading Mack. But it appears Sileo is just throwing all kinds of ideas around without much thought into it.

No one seems to know really what QBR is since there are so many variables to account for. For instance; one set of stats that are figured in is 'garbage time' stats. Basically a QB (in this case) could have 'lights out' statistics for the 4th quarter but that's because the other team is ahead by 30 points and are going into pass prevent. The opposite affect could apply where a QB gets great stats due to the team they play against. Another measure that QBR employs is against how highly rated the defense is that the QB faces. If you play the 2019 NE defense during weeks 1-5, you probably won't be playing against the same defense in weeks 14-17, especially if they are locked in for playoff spot. Yet NE's D would still be ranked in the top 10.

Based just off of college stats...Rosen was a three year starter to Trubisky's one. Rosen led his team to one Bowl game and nearly missed the Pac-12 championship his Freshman year In the course of 30 games Rosen threw 9,340 yards with a completion rate of 60.9% and 59 TDs to 26 INTs. In Trubisky's 31 total games he threw 4,762 yards with a 67.5% completion rate and 41 TDs to 10 INTs. So maybe not A LOT better, but better in some categories? To be fair, Rosen has been with two teams in his two years in the league whereas Trubisky has been with the same team for the last three. Would Rosen cost less? Maybe... But realistically speaking, with Miami in the hunt for a top 5 draft pick and a decent number of College QB prospects, I don't see them doing anything majorly silly like trying to get Trubisky to come in and be 'evaluated'. I do like the Leanord Floyd proposal though. That makes some sense. The Brady suggestion is sorta laughable in that if he were to leave NE he'd want a team with a decent defense to play for but that's about it. He's really not a better option than Trubisky at this point. The stats late last season showed Trubisky actually playing better than Brady. Who knew?

I saw the Pats might be interested in Henry. Which begs the question, with Rivers leaving the Chargers who will their starting QB be? Will Henry be as much of an asset to whomever that may be? I suppose he could be a security blanket receiver of sorts but with LA looking like they are rebuilding maybe he’s better as a trade tool? And speaking of Rivers; I wonder aloud how he might be as a Bear? Would he be someone Trubiksy could learn from? There’s no doubt Phillip reeks of toughness both physically and mentally. Mitchell could learn a lot from him.

This is where I’m at too. If Castillo can assess Leno being able to play then I’m good with it. It seems there was a lot of weird fall off from 2017-2018 that is hard to explain; especially along the oline. They were essentially the same group from one year to the next but you wouldn’t know it by how they played.
-
What if I said ‘fall guy(s)’ instead? ?? Seriously though, Paces wagon is hitched to Trubisky and by association so is Nagy. Pace has more to lose than does Nagy due to that fact. I would imagine that Pace and Nagy had some discussion about how to make their offense better and probably noticed like everyone else the weakest link this year, for whatever reason, was the oline. Prior to his departure Hiestand was pretty well regarded in the offensive line world. He coached a handful of successful linemen while in Notre Dame and many of those players thought highly of him (Bars being one of them). So to believe he suddenly slipped is still a head scratcher. As far as Helfrich I don’t know either. History shows he did ok while at Oregon. But as I’ve mentioned before, Nagy is really the OC anyhow. We know Nagy has struggled before (see the playoff game with KC prior to his coming to Chicago). When it’s all said and done I hope ? that this combination will work. The defense probably has a few more good years left in it. The Bears need to strike while the irons hot. and...it’s good to see you back Pix.
-
Who are we kidding? Nagy was and is the OC. I personally don’t think all that highly of Lazor. He was just fired from Cincinnati for Pete’s sake.

It appears Jordan will be available soon as a FA. The question is should the Bears consider returning him? What type of blocking will Chicago deploy under Castillo? Are they wanting to go more power blocking, zone blocking or concentrate more on pass blocking? I think someone hypothesized that the reason Hiestand lost his job was because he wanted to do more power blocking and Nagy did not. (My guess is Nagy needed a scape goat and Hiestand was one of a few options). Anyhow, if in fact the Bears goal is to focus more on a combination of pass and zone blocking then Howard may still be an option. Even with a couple of fixes along the oline for next year I don’t see them being dramatically better than they were this year. And due to that having Howard in the backfield for blocking assists and the occasional power run would be worth the money. The article below makes a few other good points. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bears/should-bears-bring-eagles-running-back-jordan-howard-back-chicago

Yet he (Mahomes) has a league MVP, Super Bowl MVP and Super Bowl win in the same amount of time that Trubisky's been in the league. Even the ‘lesser’ of the two, Watson, has made the playoffs the last two seasons. Whether it be Trubisky, Nagys play-calling, the offensive line or the combination of all three; time and excuses will be running out soon. They need to get their collective crap together for next year for any of it to count.
-
I value Kyle’s appraisal of the o-line; having ‘been there, done that’. If he thinks Castillo will click better with Nagy AND he assesses that a player like Leno can be used, then I’m good with it (until I’m not). But maybe Castillo’s viewpoint will be different and we’ll get a better idea of his measure once the FA and draft occur. I remember Long was a big reason for Massie coming to Chicago. He endorsed him big time when he (Massie) became a FA from Arizona. I’ve never been all that impressed with Massie but then, I haven’t ‘been there, done that’ like Kyle has.

I just can’t buy in on Cams mood swings. His highs are high (which is great) and when he’s low, he’s worse than Cutler ever was. But man it would be great to have Olsen back. Another one of those players that should have never left.

I’m for KC pretty much due to Reid. And honestly I like Mahomes. Not sure I would think he’s all lucky. Might consider it on the same plane as Rodgers who somehow miraculously has pulled out numerous last minute wins ala Hail Mary passes. Is it luck or being fortunate? Would the players supporting Reid and Mahomes be as good as they are without either of them? Not all that long ago they had Alex Smith as their perennial starter, even with some of the current skill players on the roster, and how far did they get? They got to the AFC Championship last year (Mahomes second season) and this year...advanced another step. I agree about the running scheme in SF as it is so much like watching Denver when Shannahan’s dad was coaching there. You could almost literally plug and play any RB in that scheme and have success. It’s really amazing how well Kyle is duplicating his dads success. The one intriguing and trivial thing to me will be Jimmy G. In the NFC Championship game he threw a total of EIGHT passes. Remember early on in the Bears season when Nagy did the exact opposite of that and failed? But I digress. Either the low number of passes was indicative of just how dominant their running scheme is, or pure genius . Meaning Shannahan didn’t want to tip his hand about how really lethal Jimmy G can be. Guess we’ll find out.

Truth!

Another perspective that occurred to me was that comparatively speaking, doesn’t the CFL throw more often than the NFL? Maybe his INT #s are a bit inflated because of the more # of opportunities? But then, he was the top rated FA CB in that league last year so...there’s that. Speaking of age, maybe Robinson will be the Bears version of Richard Sherman. Dude is 31 years old coming off a recent Achilles tear and is headed to his second super bowl. Age is just a number to some guys.

Cameron Wake, Doug Flutie, Warren Moon, Chad Johnson, Brandon Browner and Joe Horn would beg to differ. Sure they are a minimal number compared to the thousands per year that start out on each NFL roster every year. But... there’s always that diamond in the rough and exception to the rule. And with all the teams interested in him; to include NE, Minnesota and SF I’d think there must be something to it.
-
I don’t think your way of thinking is way off key. I’ve been pretty critical of Trubisky (and Pace because of it) but like ‘Ashkum’ says it would be a lot easier if he just figured it out. Realistically speaking though, I have my doubts. And to support our thinking there’s this excerpt from Gregg Rosenthal for NFL.com. Please take note about the defense: “CHICAGO BEARS: (Need to) Give up the ghost with Mitchell Trubisky. General manager Ryan Pace committed to Trubisky as the team's unquestioned starter on New Year's Eve. Perhaps some distance from an emotional season and the fresh possibilities of this crop of free-agent and rookie quarterbacks could move Pace off the commitment. Coaches and general managers waste more seasons and lose more jobs by doubling down on bad decisions than by making bad decisions in the first place. This Bears roster has a sneaky amount of talent on both sides of the ball, although Chicago's outstanding defense has already started to decline. The Bears could win right now with the right trade or reboot at the quarterback position. Closing their eyes to those possibilities is the sports equivalent of the cover-up being greater than the crime.”

What’s more, from other sites I’ve seen the Vikings were really wanting him back. Maybe a good thing? https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2020/01/29/five-things-to-know-new-chicago-bears-cornerback-tre-roberson/

I’m always ‘all in’ on good SEC players (especially Alabama). But... what i don’t like is the “injury plagued 2018 campaign”. As much as it pains me to say this, I’d say we focus more on OL in the earlier rounds. Now watch Jason appear...

Couldn’t help but notice this guy...yes he’s the son of former Oiler, Eagle and Charger Offensive Tackle of the same name. Both played for Michigan. Maybe wouldn’t be all that bad to put sights on this guy? And by the by, your draft is not accurate. Not enough D2 players selected.?
-
He’s on the shorter side at 6’1 230# but not a lot shorter than Von Miller at 6’3 250# or even Mack at 6’3 270#. I think in his advantage he’s got raw speed and like Mongo said ‘drive and determination’. Something lacking a lot of the time from Floyd.
-
Wish I could take credit for it but saw it another site somewhere. Makes sense. He’s a tenacious player and has good sideline to sideline speed which is good if you need him to drop back on passes; like they are known to do from time to time. Thought he was a converted safety but can’t find a link to confirm that. Anyhow, I agree that he’d be a great fit there.

I think with the hopeful loss of Amukamara and potential replacement of HHCD we’ll see some better performance there. FWIW I don’t like Bush back there as a fill in (let alone starter). Seems the few times I recall him there he was getting burnt at key moments. At least one of those was for a score. I think with the hand he was dealt due to losing so many key players; the defense performed really well. I also like that there may be a future star discovered in Kevin Pierre Louis. I would be really intrigued to see him line up at OLB opposite Mack.
